To clear the ensuing dasara and diwali rush South Western Railway (SWR) has decided to attach an additional sleeper class coach for four trains and an additional AC 3-tier coach for two trains temporarily.

According to a press release issued by South Western Railway from Oct 5 to Nov 30 an additional sleeper class coach each would be attached  to Tata-Yesvantpur Weekly Express (train number 12889) that starts from Tata on Fridays and Howrah-Mysore Weekly Express (22817) that starts from Howrah on Fridays. Similarly from Oct 8 to Dec 9 Yesvantpur-Tata Weekly Express (12890) that starts from Yesvantpur on Mondays would have an additional sleeper coach. Mysore-Howrah Weekly Express (22818) that starts from Mysore on Mondays would have additional coach from Oct 8 to Dec 3.

It also said an additional AC 3-tier coach would be attached from Oct 3 to Nov 28 to Howrah-Sri Satya Sai Prashanti Nilayam Weekly Express (12571) on Wednesdays and from Oct 5 to Nov 30 for Sri Satya Sai Prashanti Nilayam-Howrah  Weekly Express (12572).

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh government today said it was confident of completion of the ambitious Hyderabad Metro Rail Project on schedule by 2017 with project-related work gaining momentum as per plan.The work has begun in two phases with 60 pillars being laid. The state government is monitoring the progress of work to complete the project on time. The state government is spending about Rs. 2,000 crore towards the facilitation of the project, Municipal Administration Minister M Maheedhar Reddy said.He was speaking to reporters as part of the 'Praja Hitham' (public interest) programme under which progress report of each department is presented once in a week.Maheedhar Reddy informed that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has sought completion of the project by 2016 itself, following which the state government is making all efforts to remove "bottlenecks" like land acquisition and road widening.Out of total project cost of Rs. 14,132 crore, the Centre bears 10 per cent of it, while the private partner L&T shoulders remaining 90 per cent of the cost, he said.On holding municipal elections in the state, Maheedhar Reddy said the government will approach court to conduct the polls as per 2001 Census data as the 2012 data is not available right now.

चौदह सालों से कछुआ चाल रेंग रही गोंदिया ब्रॉडगेज परियोजना को इस वित्तीय बजट में ठेंगा दिखा दिया। बजट में नाम मात्र की राशि मिलने से सुकरी-मंगेला तक नेरोगेज उखाड़ने का काम रोक दिया गया है। दक्षिण-पूर्व मध्य रेलवे (एईसीआर) का कहना है कि इस परियोजना के लिए रेल मंत्रालय से सौ करोड़ मांगे गए हैं, ताकि परियोजना जल्द पूरी हो सके।

गोंदिया ब्रॉडगेज परियोजना के तहत जबलपुर छोर से भी काम शुरू किया जा चुका है। गढ़ा (सगड़ा) स्टेशन बनाया जा रहा है। जबलपुर छोर से पटरियां भी बिछाई जा रही हैं। ग्वारीघाट से बरगी के बीच बेस बिछाने का काम किया जा रहा है। ब्रॉडगेज में आने वाली विद्युत लाइनों को भी हटाया जा रहा है। इन कार्योü के साथ एसईसीआर बारिश के बाद सुकरी-मंगेला स्टेशनों तक नेरोगेज बंद कर रहा था।


यहां पर नेरोगेज उखाड़ कर बेस वर्क के बाद ब्रॉडगेज की पटरियां डालनी थीं। योजना के तहत इस वर्ष के अंत तक जबलपुर से सुकरी-मंगेला तक ब्रॉडगेज पर ट्रेन चलाना था। रेल अधिकारियों का कहना है कि इस बजट में मात्र बीस करोड़ की राशि मिली, जिससे यह काम पिछड़ गया। बजट की राशि पुराने कार्योü के भुगतान में ही चली गई।

हाल ही में एईसीआर के महाप्रबंधक अरूणेन्द्र कुमार ने इस परियोजना का दौरा किया है। इन्होंने काम में तेजी लाने निर्देश अधिकारियों को दिए। जीएम का कहना था कि इस परियोजना को पूरा करने के लिए बजट की कमी नहीं आने देंगे। इसके लिए रेलवे मंत्रालय से बातचीत की जाएगी, कोशिश यह रहेगी कि इस परियोजना के लिए उतना बजट मिले जितना गत वर्ष मिला था।

Red Ribbon Express-III to be Instrumental in Mobilising All Segments of Society Against HIV/AIDS
As part of nationwide campaign against HIV/AIDS, a State Level function was organized at Sialdah Railway Station today. Shri Sudip Bandyopadhyay, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Government of India attended the function.

Addressing the State Level function, Shri Bandyopadhay said that Red Ribbon Express (RRE) is one of the flagship initiatives under the National AIDS Control Programme that was successfully implemented twice in the past. Based on the overwhelming response received during the last two phases, the third phase of RRE was flagged off from Delhi on 11th January 2012, the National Youth Day. On a year long journey the special train will pass through 23 states covering 162 railway stations. RRE entered West Bengal on 16th July 2012. It is scheduled to halt at 12 stations for 22 days in the state.

He said that the national response to HIV epidemic in India has been remarkable, which has seen a steady progress since 1992, when the comprehensive National AIDS Control Programme was launched in all States in the country. Since then, there has been a considerable expansion of the services for HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, care and support. The HIV estimates 2010 show an overall reduction in HIV prevalence and incidence in India. The estimated number of new annual HIV infections has declined by more than 50% over the past decade. It is estimated that India had approximately 1.2 lakh new HIV infections in 2009, as against 2.7 lakh in 2000. This is a significant indicator of the impact of the various interventions and scaled-up prevention strategies.

The third phase of RRE is being organized in collaboration with Ministry of Railways, NRHM and key mainstreaming partners in order to further strengthen the ongoing mainstreaming efforts. This time, it was launched on 11th January, the birthday of Swami Vivekananda which is celebrated as the National Youth Day. Besides disseminating information regarding primary prevention and services, RRE-III aims at reducing stigma & discrimination against People Living with HIV/AIDS and strengthening people's knowledge, while focusing on youth in particular, about the measures to be taken to prevent HIV/AIDS and adopting preventive health behaviour.

Smt. Chandrima Bhattacharya, Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of West Bengal also addressed the function.
