The timing of the inaugural function of Secunderabad-Tirupati Bi-weekly Express at Secunderabad Railway Station (Bhoguda Side) is advanced to 11 00 hrs o­n 8thDecember, 2012 It was announced by thisoffice through a press release (No.343 dt 6th December, 12) that the function will be at 12 00 Noon o­n 8th December, 2012. There is no other change. The details of the programme with revised timing for the inaugural function are as follows:- ShriN. Kiran Kuamar Reddy, Hon’ble Chief Minister ofAndhra Pradeshwill flag off the inaugural run of the train at 11 00 hrs o­n 8thDecember, 2012.Shri Kotla Jaya Surya Prakash Reddy, Hon’ble Minister of State for Railways will preside over the inaugural function and other public representatives / dignitaries will participate. On its regular service, Train No.12770 Secunderabad – Tirupati Bi-Weekly Express will depart Secunderabad at 17 40 hrs o­n Tuesdays andSaturdays and arrive Tirupati at 06 35 hrs o­n the next day. In the return direction, Train No. 12769 Tirupati-Secunderabad Bi-weekly Express will depart Tirupati at 15 10 hrs o­n Fridays and Sundays and arrive Secunderabad at 04 05 hrs o­n the next day. This train will run via Kacheguda, Kurnool Town, Dhone, Gooty, Dharmavaram, Piler and Pakala

फरीदाबाद : जैसे-जैसे सर्दी बढ़ती जा रही है, वैसे-वैसे रेलवे प्रशासन को कोहरे का डर भी सताने लगा है। हर वर्ष की तरह इस बार भी रेल प्रशासन और रेल यात्रियों को फिर से कोहरे का प्रकोप ट्रेनों के विलंब संचालन और उनके रद होने की समस्या के रूप में झेलना पड़ेगा।आने वाले समय में कोहरे की समस्या को देखते हुए उत्तर रेलवे के महाप्रबंधक वीके गुप्ता ने 7 दिसंबर को दिल्ली में बैठक के दौरान ट्रेन चालकों को ट्रेनों के सुरक्षित परिचालन के लिए निर्देश दिए थे। उन्होंने चालकों से कहा कि कोहरे में दृश्यता कम होने पर ट्रेनों की रफ्तार 60 किलोमीटर प्रति घंटे से अधिक न बढ़ाएं। गति सीमा कम होने के कारण स्वाभाविक रूप से ट्रेनों के विलंब से चलने और कुछ गाड़ियों का आवागमन रद करना पड़ेगा।

पटाखों की धमक से भी चलेंगी ट्रेनें
ओल्ड फरीदाबाद रेलवे स्टेशन के अधीक्षक डीडी सिंगल के मुताबिक प्रशिक्षित कर्मचारियों से ही रेलवे ट्रैक पर पटाखे रखवाए जाएंगे। हर साल कोहरा पड़ने से पहले कर्मचारियों को प्रशिक्षित किया जाता है। पटाखों की खेप फरीदाबाद सेक्शन में भी पहुंच चुकी है।

सिग्नल सफाई अभियान भी शुरू
कोहरा पड़ने से पहले ही रेलवे प्रशासन की टीम सिग्नल सफाई अभियान में जुट गई है। कोहरा, बरसात, आधी व हवा के तेज झोंकों से सिग्नल स्पष्ट रूप से दिखाई नहीं देता है। सिग्नल साफ दिखाई दे, इसीलिए सफाई अभियान शुरू किया गया है।

आरपीएफ और गैंगमैन रहेंगे चुस्त

कोहरे के दौरान रेलवे ट्रैक की अच्छी प्रकार से निगरानी के लिए रेलवे सुरक्षा बल (आरपीएफ) और गैंगमैन को चुस्त रहने के निर्देश दिए गए हैं। आरपीएफ के जवान ट्रैक पर गश्त करेंगे। इसके अलावा गैंगमैन नियमित ट्रैक की निगरानी करेंगे।

तीन गाड़ियां रद

जनवरी माह में कोहरा जमकर पड़ता है। कोहरे में किसी भी प्रकार की दुर्घटना से निबटने के लिए रेलवे ने तीन गाड़ियां रद कर दी हैं, जिनमें तूफान एक्सप्रेस, आगरा इंटरसिटी और उज्जैनी एक्सप्रेस ट्रेन शामिल हैं। इन ट्रेनों का अधिक कोहरे वाले इलाकों से आवागमन होता है।

Jalandhar: Mishaps at unmanned railway crossings in Punjab have become a routine. The recent collision at an unmanned railway crossing in Dasuya of Hoshiarpur district is not an isolated case, such accidents happen every now and then. Thanks to a large number of railway crossings remaining unmanned in the state.According to information gathered by The Tribune, two-third of the total railway crossings are unmanned in the Doaba region of the state alone.Though luckily no major mishap has taken place here in the recent past, yet about 575 persons have lost their lives in the past three years on unmanned railway crossings in Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala and Nawanshahr of the Doaba region, falling under the Jalandhar Government Railway Police (GRP) thana.While about 45 persons lost their lives in various mishaps on unmanned railway crossings till now this year, 261 and 228 persons were killed in mishaps on these unmanned crossings in 2011 and 2010, respectively. Thanks to the Railways, which has left over two-third crossings as unmanned in the region.As many as 231, out of total 346 crossings, falling under the jurisdiction of the Jalandhar GRP thana are unmanned. The majority of such unmanned crossings are located on the branch lines of Jalandhar-Ferozepur, Nakodar-Lohian, Jalandhar-Nakodar, Phagwara-Dhilwan, Jalandhar-Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar-Pathankot, Phagwara-Nawanshahr routes. However almost all the crossings on the main lines of Amritsar-Ambala and Jammu-Ambala routes are manned as two unmanned crossings located between the Chugitti and Suchi Pind railway stations on the Jammu-Jalandhar track have been made manned ones recently.

A mishap in September last year at an unmanned railway crossing at Mouwal village claimed lives of three children, whereas two persons were killed and a man sustained serious injuries in a collision between a tractor-trailer and the Ahmedabad-bound Jammu Tawi train at an unmanned railway crossing near Khojewal village on the outskirts of the city on September 7 last year.

Most of these persons were killed due to negligence of the drivers of the vehicles they were travelling in as these vehicles collided with running trains at unmanned railway crossings. However, some of them were crushed under trains due to their own negligence while trying to cross the track on foot unaware of the approaching train. An aged person Mohinder Pal of the Tahli Sahib locality had lost his life while trying to cross the Jalandhar-Amritsar track between Suranussi and Kartarpur while going to fetch milk from his house, when instantly two trains were passing that area. Probably, he could not notice the second train approaching there.

Demanding immediate manning of the unmanned crossings, a social activist, Arun Sharma Pappu, said, “Majority of the accidents taken place on such crossings occurred with school vans or buses due to negligence of their drivers as they were found using their mobile phones while driving. The use of mobile phones by the drivers of school buses and vans should be strictly banned by the authorities concerned to avoid recurrence of such incidents.”

Meanwhile, a GRP official said, “The GRP has already sent a recommendation to Central Government for manning these railway crossings. A list of sensitive unmanned crossings is also being prepared.”

The GRP official said, “GRP men are also holding meetings with various school bus drivers and representatives of villages to spread awareness among them to cross unmanned crossings only after watching both the sides of the track. Further they are also being educated not to use mobile phones while driving, especially at the time of passing over unmanned crossings.”

Meanwhile, a Northern Railway spokesperson said “There is already a proposal to man unmanned railway crossings, but it would be done in a phased manner due to shortage of funds.”

Registering an impressive recovery in its performance after a slowdown last fiscal year, the Mysore Division of the South Western Railway (SWR) has accrued a 19 per cent growth in its overall earnings between April and November.As against Rs. 315.72 crore earned during April–November last financial year, the division clocked Rs. 375.53 crore during the same period in 2012-13. The bulk of its earnings has come from freight transportation through which the division has earned Rs. 257.17 crore between April and November against Rs. 203.97 crore in the same period last year.Anup Dayanand Sadhu, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Mysore Division of SWR, told The Hindu the bulk of the freight comprised iron, foodgrains and cement — most of which originates from Chitradurga and ferried to Jindal Steel Plant — apart from sundry items. Though the ban on iron ore exports hit the Railways’ performance last year, the division made good the loss through domestic movement consequent to commencement of mining at a few places, he added.

Passenger handling

Passenger transportation was the second largest revenue contributor and the division earned Rs. 101.75 crore till November-end in the current financial year against Rs. 96.8 crore during the corresponding period last year. This is a marginal jump of 5 per cent over the previous year’s earnings. Mr. Sadhu opined that the growth could have been more substantial if not for the Cauvery agitation which resulted in disruption of train services and less patronisation by commuters during the agitation period, especially on the Mysore-Bangalore section.

Not withstanding the minor disruption during the agitation period, the division registered a slight increase in the number of passengers handled. As against 34.98 million passengers carried during April-November last year, the division handled 35.69 million passengers during the same period this year.

Track-doubling

Expressing confidence of registering impressive growth in revenue generation through passenger traffic, Mr. Sadhu pointed out that the completion of track-doubling between Birur and Arsikere had not only helped decongest the track but was also expected to generate additional passenger traffic and revenue as more trains could be run in future.

The division netted Rs. 6.46 crore under ‘Other Coaching Earnings’ and a drive against ticketless travelling added Rs. 2.27 crore to the revenue from April to November against Rs. 1.67 crore earned during the same period last year. Likewise, sundry earnings, including publicity, catering and operating special trains, helped accrue Rs. 10.15 crore by way of revenue against Rs. 8.76 crore last year.

The thrust on publicity to augment revenue led the railway authorities to tap the current trends in marketing and they introduced vinyl wrapping of the coaches to promote commercial products for a fee. The rakes of the Chamundi Express are vinyl wrapped to advertise products instead of its conventional livery. “In all, 63 coaches comprising the rakes of important trains originating from Mysore will be vinyl wrapped as tenders have been finalised. The revenue earned will be reflected during the last quarter,” Mr. Sadhu said.

NEW DELHI: Government today said its ambitious Kashmir rail plan has the largest cost overrun of Rs 5,500 crore among those rail projects which have been delayed by more than a decade.The Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail line which was to be commissioned by March 2001 at a cost of 2,500 crore rpt crore, would now be completed by December 2017 at Rs 8,000 crore, Minister of State for Statistics and Programme Implementation Srikant Kumar Jena in a written reply to the Lok Sabha. As on September 1 this year, Bankura-Damodar rail project would also have cost overrun of Rs 1,300.84 crore. It was to be completed by March, 2005 at the cost of Rs 111.90 crore. But now it would be commissioned by June, 2016 at a cost of Rs 1,412.74 crore, the statement added.Tamluk Digha line doubling would have cost overrun of 792.44 crore and will be completed by June, 2016. The project was envisaged to be commissioned in June 2005 at a cost of Rs 293.97 crore.Amravati-Narkher rail project will have cost overrun of 428.05 crore and would be completed by March, 2011. It was to be commissioned in June, 1999 at a cost of rs 120.90 crore.Other such projects include Lalitpur-Satna-Rewa-Singruli, Lanjhgarh-Junagarh and freight operations information system.
