फरीदाबाद : जैसे-जैसे सर्दी बढ़ती जा रही है, वैसे-वैसे रेलवे प्रशासन को कोहरे का डर भी सताने लगा है। हर वर्ष की तरह इस बार भी रेल प्रशासन और रेल यात्रियों को फिर से कोहरे का प्रकोप ट्रेनों के विलंब संचालन और उनके रद होने की समस्या के रूप में झेलना पड़ेगा।आने वाले समय में कोहरे की समस्या को देखते हुए उत्तर रेलवे के महाप्रबंधक वीके गुप्ता ने 7 दिसंबर को दिल्ली में बैठक के दौरान ट्रेन चालकों को ट्रेनों के सुरक्षित परिचालन के लिए निर्देश दिए थे। उन्होंने चालकों से कहा कि कोहरे में दृश्यता कम होने पर ट्रेनों की रफ्तार 60 किलोमीटर प्रति घंटे से अधिक न बढ़ाएं। गति सीमा कम होने के कारण स्वाभाविक रूप से ट्रेनों के विलंब से चलने और कुछ गाड़ियों का आवागमन रद करना पड़ेगा। |

Jalandhar: Mishaps at unmanned railway crossings in Punjab have become a routine. The recent collision at an unmanned railway crossing in Dasuya of Hoshiarpur district is not an isolated case, such accidents happen every now and then. Thanks to a large number of railway crossings remaining unmanned in the state.According to information gathered by The Tribune, two-third of the total railway crossings are unmanned in the Doaba region of the state alone.Though luckily no major mishap has taken place here in the recent past, yet about 575 persons have lost their lives in the past three years on unmanned railway crossings in Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala and Nawanshahr of the Doaba region, falling under the Jalandhar Government Railway Police (GRP) thana.While about 45 persons lost their lives in various mishaps on unmanned railway crossings till now this year, 261 and 228 persons were killed in mishaps on these unmanned crossings in 2011 and 2010, respectively. Thanks to the Railways, which has left over two-third crossings as unmanned in the region.As many as 231, out of total 346 crossings, falling under the jurisdiction of the Jalandhar GRP thana are unmanned. The majority of such unmanned crossings are located on the branch lines of Jalandhar-Ferozepur, Nakodar-Lohian, Jalandhar-Nakodar, Phagwara-Dhilwan, Jalandhar-Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar-Pathankot, Phagwara-Nawanshahr routes. However almost all the crossings on the main lines of Amritsar-Ambala and Jammu-Ambala routes are manned as two unmanned crossings located between the Chugitti and Suchi Pind railway stations on the Jammu-Jalandhar track have been made manned ones recently. |

NEW DELHI: Government today said its ambitious Kashmir rail plan has the largest cost overrun of Rs 5,500 crore among those rail projects which have been delayed by more than a decade.The Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail line which was to be commissioned by March 2001 at a cost of 2,500 crore rpt crore, would now be completed by December 2017 at Rs 8,000 crore, Minister of State for Statistics and Programme Implementation Srikant Kumar Jena in a written reply to the Lok Sabha. As on September 1 this year, Bankura-Damodar rail project would also have cost overrun of Rs 1,300.84 crore. It was to be completed by March, 2005 at the cost of Rs 111.90 crore. But now it would be commissioned by June, 2016 at a cost of Rs 1,412.74 crore, the statement added.Tamluk Digha line doubling would have cost overrun of 792.44 crore and will be completed by June, 2016. The project was envisaged to be commissioned in June 2005 at a cost of Rs 293.97 crore.Amravati-Narkher rail project will have cost overrun of 428.05 crore and would be completed by March, 2011. It was to be commissioned in June, 1999 at a cost of rs 120.90 crore.Other such projects include Lalitpur-Satna-Rewa-Singruli, Lanjhgarh-Junagarh and freight operations information system. |
