Chandigarh: The Haryana Government today approved the extension of the Metro link from Sikanderpur station to Sector 56, Gurgaon. The project, which is likely to be commissioned within a period of three years, will have the route length of 6.5 km and cost around Rs 2,143 crore.The approval was granted by the state Cabinet, which met under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, said a spokesman. The project would further strengthen the much awaited Mass Rapid Transport infrastructure in Gurgaon, he added.The project has the provision of further extension of the Metro Rail towards old Gurgaon across the National Highway, which will also be taken up subsequently for the benefit of residents living on the north side of Gurgaon, the spokesman said.M/s IL and FS Rail Limited would implement the project under the public private partnership (PPP) model and the entire cost of the project would be borne by M/s IL and FS Rail Limited.The Haryana Government would provide right of way (ROW) on lease hold basis. “This is a unique model for implementation of Metro Rail projects in the country wherein not only the entire project cost will be borne by the private party but it will also be maintained and operated by the private party at its own cost,” he said.M/s IL and FS Rail Limited would also pay Rs 2,010 crore to the state government towards connectivity charges over a period of 20 years starting from 16th year from the date of signing of the concession agreement.

The private parties would also share with the state government 5 per cent to 10 per cent of the revenue generated from the property development and advertisements rights during the operation period.

The project would be a boon to the existing Metro Rail project being developed in the Cyber City of Gurgaon, the trial runs of which would take place on October 2, 2012, in the presence of the Haryana Chief Minister.

The Southern Railway has planned to execute the work of placing PSC (Prestressed Concrete) precast girders on the beams across the track near Korukkupet railway station on Sunday. As such, trains between Vyasarpadi and Korukkupet stations will be cancelled on that day.
The engineering department of the Southern Railway, in 2007, planned to construct a Road Over Bridge (ROB) near Korukkupet railway station at an estimated cost of 14.5 crore, wherein the Railways and the State Highways department would share the cost.
The plan met with bottlenecks for two years in the form of land acquisition and road diversions. In due course, LC (Level Crossing) No 1, between Vyasarpadi and Korukkupet was closed. The plan kicked off in 2009 and the foundation was completed. Now, the super-structure process is being carried over.
“The super-structure process includes the placing of girders on the beams which are laid across the track for road approach,” said G B Reddy, Chief Engineer, Southern Railway.
“We have six girders to place above the beams. We are using three heavy-duty cranes in this process. Since the process needs an entire day, trains between Vyasarpadi and Korukkupet stations will be cancelled on Sunday. During the process of moving the heavy girders mishaps can happen. But we have taken necessary steps to prevent mishaps. Since trespassing will be the major problem, we have also sought police help,” he added.
He also requested residents in the vicinity of level crossing No.1 and others to avoid using the road passing through the crossing as a precautionary measure.

Eight Superfast Special Trains Between Visakhapatnam and Sainagar Shirdi

In order to clear extra rush of passengers, eight superfast special trains will run between Visakhapatnam and Sainagar Shirdi from 04th October to 26th October 2012 via Secunderabad and Nanded as per the following schedule:-

Train No. 02801 Visakhapatnam- Sainagar Shirdi Superfast Special train will depart Visakhapatnam at 09 10 hrs o­n Thursdays, i.e., 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th October 2012 and arrive Sainagar Shirdi at 12 15 hrs o­n the next day.

In the return direction, Train No. 02802 Sainagar Shirdi-Visakhapatnam Superfast Special train will depart Sainagar Shirdi at 19 10 hrs o­n Fridays, i.e., 5th, 12th, 19th and 26thOctober 2012 and arrive Visakhapatnam at 22 20 hrs o­n the next day.

Enroute, these special trains will stop at Duvvada, Anakapalli, Samalkot, Rajahmundry, Eluru, Vijayawada, Khammam, Warangal, Kazipet, Secunderabad, Kamareddi, Nizamabad, H.S.Nanded, Purna, Parbhani, Jalna, Aurangabad, Nagarsol, Manmad and Kopargaon.

These special trains will comprise of o­ne AC II Tier, o­ne AC III Tier, seven Sleeper Class, four General Second Class and two Second Class Luggage cum Brake Van Coaches, totaling to Fifteen Coaches.

Mysore: Cauvery protests continue; city police on high alert.

Even as the all party meeting in Bangalore on Saturday decided to go for a review petition in the Supreme Court over releasing of water to Tamil Nadu from the State, the city of palaces witnessed protests.Traffic came to a screeching halt when the busy Mysore-Bangalore highway was blocked near the outer-ring road junction for close to half-an-hour by Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV) activists. The activists led by their city unit president Kiran Gowda held the traffic for ransom condemning the stand of the centre directing Karnataka to release 9,000 cusec of water.When activists didn’t  yield to the repeated requests of the police on the spot to call off their agitation, they arrested nine activists and released them later.At city railway station, Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (Praveen Kumar Shetty faction) activists led by their city unit president Madesh, Manjunath and Bhyravesha and seven others were arrested and released later for staging rail roko.The activists who climbed on the engine of the train raised slogans against the centre staging stir for 10 minutes from 10.25 am.The train scheduled to depart at 10.45 am chugged without any hiccup later.The activists have been booked under sections 147 and 174A of Indian Railways Act.

They will be produced before the court again on Monday. Mysore Kannada Vedike activists burnt Tamil newspapers in front of the office of the department of information and publicity on Dhanwantri road. Police who have kept a hawk’s eye on the city following the protests, have augmented the police force with available men from KSRP and CAR forces. According to intelligence reports, the protests are expected to intensify in the days to come. The police are also ready to tackle any exigencies, said a source.

1.Train No. 12702 Hyderabad-CST Mumbai Hussian Sagar Express scheduled to depart Hyderabad at 14 45 hrs is re-scheduled to leave Hyderabad at 19 00 hrs.
2.Train No. 17429 Hyderabad-Tirupati Rayalaseema Express scheduled to depart Hyderabad at 15 35 hrs is re-scheduled to leave Hyderabad at 18 45 hrs.
3.Train No. 17002 Secunderabad-Sri Sainagar Shirdi Express scheduled to depart Secunderabad at 16 40 hrs is re-scheduled to leave Secunderabad at 19 00 hrs.
4.Train No. 12604 Hyderabad-Chennai Express scheduled to depart Hyderabad at 16 55 Hrs is re-scheduled to leave Hyderabad at 19 30 hrs.

5.Train No. 12728 Hyderabad-Visakhapatnam Godavari Express scheduled to depart Hyderabad at 17 15 hrs is re-scheduled to leave Hyderabad at 19.15 hrs.

1.Train No. 12591 Gorakhpur-Bangalore Express scheduled to Arrive / Depart Secunderabad at 15 20 / 15 30 hrs is regulated and to leave Secunderabad at 19 30 hrs.
