The popular train enquiry website of Railways will soon get a facelift, complete with a host of passenger friendly information including the latest train position.The likely time of arrival at the next station in the event of the train running late will also be provided in trainenquiry.com, helping passengers schedule their plans accordingly.The search options have also been made much easier, relieving the passengers the bother of remembering the train number etc."The other unique feature is that passengers visiting the site can get to know the latest position of the train they are searching for," said a railways official.Indian Railways, which is the fourth largest railway network in the world, is already in the process of developing smart solutions to keep passenger informed about the real time train running information.According to railyatri.in, which is powering the refurbished site, the new version has been designed after a study of various user focus groups which include regular passengers, savvy/non-savvy computer users and railway folks over months.In a posting in an Indian railways fanclub website, it said, "The current version is an outcome based on several rounds of iterations and fine-tuning based on the feedback from such groups and experts from various design schools".It said the goal would be to keep the screens less cluttered as opposed to the existing one and focus more on information which the user is specifically looking for.

Rajendra Dhambel, Senior Divisional Signal and Telecom Engineer (Sr. DSTE)/Waltair has been promoted as Chief Signal and Telecom Engineer (CSTE)/Project and posted at Bhubaneswar. Rajesh Ratan, Deputy CSTE/Construction/Waltair has assumed charge as Senior DSTE/Waltair.A few other officers of Waltair Division have also been promoted recently.B. Ramana Rao assumed the charge of Divisional Commercial Manager of Waltair Division of East Coast Railway. Prior to his posting as DCM, he was ACM (Freight) in Waltair Division. L.R. Nanda, ACM/ Waltair has been promoted as Divisional Commercial Manager and transferred to Sambalpur.P.Ch. Ramu Naidu recently joined as Assistant Commercial Manager of Waltair Division. Prior to his posting as ACM at Visakhapatnam, he held the post of ACM (Freight) at Sambalpur. He worked in various capacities and has varied experience in the field level of the Traffic Commercial and disaster management. He was honoured with the GM award in the recently held 57th Railway Week Celebrations for his exemplary work at the accident site during the accident of train no.18108 (Koraput-Rourkela) Express at Sikir station on May 4 and train no.18426 (Durg - Puri)Express on February 13.

CHENNAI: Among the oldest railway terminals in the country, the Chennai Central Railway Station, is celebrating 140 years of existence. As part of the celebrations for this landmark year in the life of this heritage structure, Southern Railway General Manager Deepak Krishan will inaugurate a mural at the station on Tuesday. Lakhs and lakhs of passengers from different walks of life have transited through the station during and since the British Empire. Commissioned for passenger traffic with only four short platforms on April 7, 1873, the railway station was originally designed by George Hardinge and later additions was made by Robert F. Chisholm.
In fact, the British Engineer Chisholm was given an award of Rs 5,000 for his contributions to the design. The station was constructed to decongest south India’s third oldest railway station, Royapuram, situated close to the Harbour on the North Railway Terminus Road about three kilometres away from Central. Constructed in the Gothic Revival style with Italianate and Hindu overtones, Chisholm added country towers on the sides and the central clock tower as well. The majestic tower at a height of 136 feet has giant clocks on all four faces. It emits a gong every 15 minutes, that can be heard within the radius of three kilometres.
Presently, more than two lakh people visit the station daily and an average of 108 long distance trains depart from here connecting it to almost every nook and corner of the country. Equipped with a 103-inch plasma screen for information on arrival and departure of trains, the station also has 50 CCTV cameras for security.

ग्वालियर। रेलवे स्टेशन पर पर्चे-पोस्टर चिपकाने या इमारत को गंदा करने वालों पर पांच से दस हजार रुपए का जुर्माना लगाएं, उन पर संपत्ति को क्षति पहुंचाने का मामला दर्ज करें। सांसद यशोधरा राजे सिंधिया ने ये निर्देश सोमवार को स्टेशन के विकास कार्यो की समीक्षा बैठक में अधिकारियों को दिए। उन्होंने कहा कि प्लेटफार्मो पर सीसीटीवी कैमरे जल्द लगाने का काम किया जाए।

रेलवे स्टेशन के विकास कार्यो का सांसद यशोधरा राजे ने शाम को जायजा लेने के बाद वीआईपी रूम में अधिकारियों के साथ समीक्षा बैठक की। इस दौरान मंडल रेल प्रबंधक अशोक गुप्ता, एसपी मकरंद देउस्कर, डीएसपी ट्रैफिक अजय कुमार त्रिपाठी, टीआई नरेश अन्नोटिया आदि उपस्थित थे। डीआरएम ने कहा कि सर्कुलेटिंग एरिया में ट्रैफिक व्यवस्था के लिए एमआईटीएस के सेवानिवृत्त प्रोफेसर से प्लान बनवाया जाएगा। उन्होंने कहा कि प्लेटफार्म एक के पोर्च के सामने से पार्किग का रास्ता निकालने व पोर्च में वीवीआईपी वाहनों को ही प्रवेश देने की व्यवस्था की जाएगी। प्लेटफार्म चार के बाहर डिवाइडर लगाकर वाहनों को संचालित किया जाएगा।

रायरू मालगोदाम के प्लान को देखने के बाद सांसद ने इसकी विशेषताएं जाननी चाहीं, तो अधिकारियों ने कहा कि रेलवे बोर्ड ने इसे खुद तैयार किया है और आधुनिक है। सांसद ने मालगोदाम पर कवर्ड शेड के लिए धन की कमी होने पर प्रस्ताव बनाकर उन्हें देने को कहा। रायरू में बन रही सेना की साइडिंग के लिए उन्होंने सेना के अफसरों के साथ मिलकर प्लानिंग करने का सुझाव दिया।

स्टेशन पर सीसीटीवी कैमरे का प्रस्ताव अब तक न बनाए जाने पर सांसद यशोधरा राजे ने नाराजगी जताई और एसपी देउस्कर को इस संबंध में जल्द प्रस्ताव बनाने को कहा। उन्होंने कहा कि शहर में कैमरों के लिए 25 लाख दिए हैं, तो स्टेशन के लिए भी फंड एकत्र करा देंगे। एसपी ने बताया कि इन कैमरों की कनेक्टिविटी शहर में लगे कैमरों व कंट्रोल रूम से रखी जाएगी।

आरक्षण टोकन व्यवस्था बंद होने पर जताई नाराजगी

सांसद ने स्टेशन पर आरक्षण कार्यालय में टोकन व्यवस्था बंद होने पर भी आपत्ति जताई। इससे दलालों का प्रभाव बढ़ता दिख रहा है। इस पर वरिष्ठ मंडल रेल प्रबंधक (वाणिज्य) राजेश कुमार सिंह ने कहा कि आरक्षण फार्मो पर नंबरिंग की व्यवस्था के लिए एक पर्यवेक्षक की ड्यूटी लगाई जाएगी।
