अम्बाला. ट्रेनों के परिचालन में बेहद व्यस्त रहने वाले अम्बाला कैंट स्टेशन पर प्लेटफार्म की संख्या बढ़ाने के लिए रेलवे नई कार्य योजना तैयार कर रहा है। इसके लिए स्टेशन से लगते बीसीएन डिपो को शिफ्ट करने का विचार है। रेल मुख्यालय की एक टीम स्टेशन का निरीक्षण कर चुकी है।



कुछ दिनों पहले अम्बाला आए नार्दर्न रेलवे के सीओएम (चीफ आपरेटिंग मैनेजर) ने भी प्लेटफार्म संख्या बढ़ाने के लिए डिपो को सहारनपुर के पास खान आलमपुरा यार्ड में शिफ्ट करने की संभावनाओं को देखा था। रेल अफसर भी मानते हैं कि प्लेटफार्मो की संख्या बढ़ाना समय की जरूरत बन चुका है।

स्टेशन के ठीक साथ लगते बीसीएन डिपो में काफी जगह उपलब्ध है और प्लेटफार्म बढ़ाने के लिए रेलवे इस जगह का उपयोग करने पर विचार कर रही है।

बीसीएन डिपो में डिब्बों के पहियों की मरम्मत की जाती है और यदि इस डिपो को यहां से रेलवे हटाती भी है तो इसका ज्यादा फर्क रेलवे पर नहीं पड़ेगा। डिपो हटने से लगभग चार प्लेटफार्म और बढ़ सकते हैं। मगर इस योजना को अमलीजामा पहनाने के लिए बड़े स्तर पर बदलाव करने होंगे और इस परियोजना में काफी समय भी लग सकता है।

सफाई में भी दिक्कत

कैंट स्टेशन प यात्री गाड़ियों के लिए कुल छह प्लेटफार्म होने की वजह से सफाई में भी दिक्कत होती है। छह प्लेटफार्म से 218 मेल-एक्सप्रेस व माल गाड़ियां होकर गुजरती हैं जिस वजह से प्लेटफार्म लगभग हर समय व्यस्त रहते हैं। ऐसे में सफाई कर्मियों को भी पटरियां धोने के लिए पर्याप्त समय नहीं मिल पा रहा है। यदि प्लेटफार्म ज्यादा समय तक खाली रहे तो स्टेशन पर सफाई और भी बेहतर हो सकती है।

रोज नौ लाइनों पर दौड़ती हैं 300 ट्रेनें

कैंट स्टेशन पर इस समय सात प्लेटफार्म सहित कुल नौ लाइन है। 24 घंटे के दौरान स्टेशन से 300 गाड़िया गुजरती हैं, इनमें 166 मेल व एक्सप्रेस, 52 पैसेंजर और लगभग 80 माल गाड़ियां हैं। पांच नंबर, आठ और नौ नंबर लाइन से मालगाड़ियों को पास किया जाता है जबकि शेष सात प्लेटफार्म पर यात्री गाड़ियों को लिया जाता है।


कम लाइन व ज्यादा गाड़ियां होने से प्लेटफार्म पूरी तरह से व्यस्त हो जाते हैं। इस वजह से रेलवे को अक्सर कई ट्रेनों को आउटर पर खड़ा करना पड़ता है जबकि कई बार ट्रेनें ज्यादा होने से आउटर के पीछे खड़ी गाड़ियों को छोटे स्टेशनों पर तक रोक दिया जाता है।


रेलवे स्टेशन पर ट्रेनों का दबाव बढ़ रहा है और जरूरत प्लेटफार्म संख्या बढ़ाने की है। रेलवे बीसीएन डिपो के स्थान पर और प्लेटफार्म बनाने की योजना बना रही है। यदि योजना पास होती है तो प्लेटफार्मो की संख्या बढ़ाई जाएगी जिसका फायदा रेल परिचालन को मिलेगा। -पीके सांघी, डीआरएम, अम्बाला।

समय के साथ कैंट स्टेशन पर प्लेटफार्म बढ़ाने की जरूरत है। एक साथ स्टेशन पर काफी ट्रैफिक रहता है जिस वजह से सात प्लेटफार्म अक्सर कम पड़ जाते हैं, मगर रेलवे फिर भी बेहतर कार्य कर रही है। ट्रेनों के परिचालन पर पूरी निगरानी रखी जाती है। -शेर सिंह जलोड़िया, सीनियर स्टेशन मैनेजर, अम्बाला कैंट।

TIRUPATI: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams with the support of railway authorities are planning to provide more facilities to pilgrims, TTD board chairman K Bapiraju has announced.Addressing media persons in SVETA, here, he said that Tirupati being a pilgrim town, is the highest revenue earner for the railways, with thousands of pilgrims visiting Tirumala every day from across the country to have darshan of Lord Venkateswara.He said they have planned to construct a foot over bridge connecting Vishnu Nivasam and railway station and asked the concerned officials to prepare and submit the design of the plan within a fortnight to railway DRM's office. The DRM will take a decision after considering the designs, he added.A TTD information centre will also come up at the railway station shortly to provide necessary information regarding accommodation, darshan and other facilities, he said.Railway e-Ticket counters will also be set up in Srinivasam, Vishnu Nivasam and SV guest house for the sake of the pilgrims, he added.

MUMBAI: Train services on the Harbour line were suspended for over an hour on Sunday after a crow got stuck in the overhead wires near Reay Road station around 11.40am, causing sparks and snapping of the wire.While railway officials said the wire did not snap and it was just a "crow's fault" which led to the disruption, there were reports of the wire snapping. Train services on the Down line between CST and Wadala were stopped completely and services were restored at 12.40pm, said PR officer A K Singh.

Railway officials said the fault occurred due to the crow flying in the vicinity of the high tension wires around 11.40 pm. The train service on the down side of harbour line between CST and Wadala was stopped completely and the services were restored at 12.40 pm, said public relations officer A K Singh. He denied that the wires had snapped as it could have then taken at least three hours to normalize services. "Our engineers and technicians rushed to the site and rectified the problem on a war footing within an hour. There was no problem on harbour line for rest of the day," he added.

  Indian Railways News  / ANDHRA PRADESH : Plan to get 60 metro rail piers ready before monsoon

Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMR) and Larsen & Toubro Metro Rail Hyderabad Ltd (L&TMRH) have decided to get at least 60 piers (pillars) ready on the Nagole-Mettuguda stretch before the monsoon sets in.

Foundation work for six piers is currently being done on the eight kilometre stretch labelled as stage one of the elevated metro rail project spanning 71.16 km across the three dense traffic corridors of the twin cities. Stage one forms part of the Line Three – Nagole to Shilparamam and it will have 305 piers.

Next month, piers foundation work for the second stage – Miyapur to S.R. Nagar, part of the Line One – Miyapur to L.B.Nagar, is to begin, according to HMR Managing Director N.V.S. Reddy on Thursday.

‘Bhoomi puja'

Earlier in the day, on the occasion of birth anniversary of Adi Sankara, L&TMRHL conducted the ‘bhoomi puja' for the operations and maintenance division of the metro rail at the Uppal depot as also for two piers coming on the route, in the presence of Chief Secretary Pankaj Dwivedi and senior officials of the Government.

Principal Secretaries – B. Sambob (Municipal Administration & Urban Development), S.P. Singh (Roads & Buildings), Premchandra Reddy (Finance), GHMC Commissioner M.T. Krishna Babu, HMWSSB MD Adhar Sinha, APCPDCL MD Anantaramu, Cyberabad Police Commissioner Dwaraka Tirumala Rao, Additional CP (Traffic) C.V. Anand, L&TMRHL MD V.B. Gadgil and others, were present.

The operations and maintenance unit coming up at the depot will be the key nerve centre for all the metro rail activities across the three routes. Senior officials expect close to Rs. 1,000 crore to be invested in the depot alone.

HYDERABAD APRIL 27:  The Vijayawada Division of South Central Railways has clocked 16.95 per cent growth in freight earnings at Rs 1,706 core, in tune with the trend of the entire zone last fiscal.

This division forms an important part of the SC Railways as it handles the entire cargo throughput of the Krishnapatnam and Kakinada private ports, besides a portion of the cargo from the neighbouring Visakhapatnam and Gangavaram ports.

With Krishnapatnam and Kakinada ports handling increased quantity of coal and fertiliser cargoes, this reflected on the freight earnings of the Vijayawada Division. In terms of throughput, its freight loading peaked to 24.8 million tonnes, an increase of 17.3 per cent.

The gross earnings of the division registered a growth of 14.34 per cent, touching Rs 22,291.19 crore. The performance efficiency index, a measure of expenditure over income, touched 51 per cent — that is, for every Rs 100 earned, only Rs 51 was spent on administrative expenditure and the balance added to internal generation of resources.

On the passenger front, the division notched up a growth of 6.67 per cent to touch Rs 501 crore — it handled 98.40 million passengers, up by 4.23 per cent.

“The Vijayawada station is being remodelled at a cost of Rs 52.86 crore so as to put reception and dispatch of trains on the fast track,” an official of the division sai
