Guwahati : The Northeast Frontier Raliway (NFR) cancelled 11 trains and rescheduled four others following the ULFA’s threat to create an “unwanted” situation and protest against Prime Minister Manmohan Singh visit to Assam on April 20.An official of NFR said the eleven trains were cancelled and four others rescheduled following the security threat up to April 20.Paresh Baruah led anti-talk faction group of United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) called state-wide shutdown on April 20 to protest against the PM's visit to Assam.In a statement issued by the outfit on Tuesday, the ULFA appealed to the people of Assam to play a conscious role so that “unwanted” situations should be avoided on April 20.After the ULFA’s warning, the Assam Police have beefed up security following the PM’s day-long visit to the state.A high level security meeting was held in Guwahati on Tuesday.The Special Protection Group (SPG) team has arranged high-level security for the PM visit.On April 20, Singh will inaugurate two new facilities for cancer patients in B Barooah Cancer Institute, Guwahati.After the function, PM will inaugurate the Platinum Jubilee celebration of the Assam Legislative Assembly. |
