MANGALORE: All rail passengers travelling in air-conditioned class have to carry any one of the following photo identity cards in original. Those who fail to carry the photo identity card will be treated as passenger travelling without ticket and will be dealt accordingly. In the case of group at least one passenger booked on the ticket has to be in the possession of original identity card, a Southern Railway press release here on Friday states.The identification documents include election photo identity card; passport; driving license; PAN card of IT department; school ID; nationalized bank passbook with photograph; credit cards with laminated photograph; and ID card issued by central/state government with serial number and photo such as pension pay order; ration card with photograph; below poverty line card, ESI card with photographs, Aadhaar cards, and senior citizen card.Central government health scheme cards with photographs issued to individual family members of central government employees too are valid. Passenger who gets automatic up gradation and those getting conversion to A/C class in the train need not produce photo identity card. This has come into effect from February 2012. But many A/C class passengers are not carrying any one of the above original id cards, Southern Railway stated. |
