Indian Railways has witnessed a mixed trend for freight and passengers revenues in September. According to railways data, passenger revenue was marginally up by 2.71% while revenue from transporting goods was down to 5.37% year-on-year. The total passenger revenue stood at Rs.3,815.43 crore for September compared with Rs.3,711.68 crore in the same period last year. Apart from this recently a report came out indicating that railways has missed its target of Rs.4,253.71 crore by margin of 10.30% in passenger revenue. In terms of freight, the Indian Railways witnessed a decline in revenue by generating Rs.7,719.52 crore compared with Rs.8,157.65 crore last year in the same time period, thereby missing the target of Rs.8,564.27 crore. The data shows that overall earning target for August 2016 was missed by Indian railways by a serious margin of 15.62%. |
