Want to experience the ethnic experience of the royal life in the state of Kings, Rajasthan? Then Palace on Wheels can give you give the taste of monarchy and make you feel like an emperor. This train gives state of the art facilities to the passengers and essentially ethnic taste of Rajasthan. The train has 14 compartments which are named after 14 princelystates of the Rajasthan of yesteryears. These stations are Alwar, Bharatpur, Bikaner, Bundi, Dholpur, Dungargarh, Jaisalmer, Jaipur, Jhalawar, Jodhpur, Kishangarh, Kota, Sirohi and Udaipur. The train departs from New Delhi and during its eight day journey, travels around Rajasthan with stops in Jaipur, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Sawai Madhopur, Chittaurgarh, Udaipur, Bharatpur, and Agra. This train has been posed as one of the top 10 luxurious trains of the world. But the incomparable and intoxicating facilities provided in the train are nowhere to be found in the world. Facilities include a bar with selected Indian and international spirits, a lounge with a good collection of books, and a television and DVD player. The train was first launched on 26 January, 1982. But at its earlier days only foreigners were allowed to travel on Palace on Wheels. The train was renovated and restructured in the year 2009 and Indians are also allowed now to travel on the train. Palace on Wheel is a heaven for the connoisseurs of ethnic as well as continental cuisine. The Palace on Wheels has 2 restaurants cum kitchen cars offering traditional Indian, Continental and Chinese cuisine with Chef's special variety of the day. Its well stocked bar serves Indian liquor and variety of scotch, wine and cocktails and interesting games for children. The interiors of the salons are lavished with ethnic handicrafts and exotic furniture. Every saloon has been designed differently from the others but the overall ambiance has been kept similar by painting the walls with cream yellow colour. With this brief introduction or this Royal experience on the wheels we will start our journey with this train and stop at the Pink City Jaipur and will explore the beautiful city, but next time.
