Duronto Express from Chennai to Coimbatore (12243) on Saturday came to a halt at the Avarampalayam railway gate at 1.43 p.m. after the gatekeeper failed to close the gate.According to sources in the railways, the train crossed the Peelamedu railway gate at 1.42 p.m.When it neared the Avarampalayam railway gate, the locomotive pilot brought the train to a halt after he found the signal red. On seeing the train, the gatekeeper rushed to close the gate. After a two-minute delay, the train left the Avarampalayam railway gate at 1.45 p.m.The sources said that the Avarampalayam gate keeper did not get the information on the approaching train as the phone was faulty. | ||
