One more victim of the Tamil Nadu Express fire accident in Nellore died in Chennai in the early hours on Friday. The victim, identified as M.V. Sambasiva Rao (34), a resident of T. Nagar, died at a private hospital where he was undergoing treatment. With this, the death toll in the accident has risen to 33.A total of 32 died on Monday, the day of accident and 20 injured persons were admitted to various hospitals in Nellore and Chennai.Mr. Rao, a businessman returning from a village near Vijayawada, succumbed to burns. He was travelling by the S11 coach, which was completely gutted in the incident. According to his wife Jhansi, Mr. Rao had woken up to flames and smoke around him. He rushed to the adjacent coach and got down. He called Jhansi around 4.30 a.m. and told her that the train had caught fire and that he had been burnt. “I am in a lot of pain. Please help me, help me,” he told her.Mr. Rao was admitted to the DSR Government Headquarters Hospital in Nellore. His wife came by car and took him back with her to Chennai. He was admitted to Apollo Hospitals where he died on Tuesday.Meanwhile, three persons who were admitted to the Railway Hospital in Perambur have been discharged, but two others have been admitted for treatment. |
