The Railway administration has decided to operate three local train services from Shivajinagar instead of Pune railway station. Two new local services will start from July 28 by utilising the time saved by terminating some services at Shivajinagar and Talegaon stations instead of Pune station and Lonavala respectively. This will also result in a change in train timings, effective from July 28, railway officials said.“Two locals will run between Shivajinagar and Talegaon and one between Lonavala and Shivajinagar. Now, the total number of locals will be 44,” said Railway PRO Y K Singh.Harsha Shah of Railway Pravasi Group welcomed the move.“The change will help those who use local service board at Shivajinagar station. However, the administrations will have to urgently upgrade the infrastructure at the Shivajinagar station to accommodate more commuters. There’s very little parking space at the station. PMPML bus services should also be regularised for commuters’ convenience,” said Shah. |
