Northeast Frontier Railway last year seen a considerable spike in railway crime according to data. This has caused serious concerns within Railway Protection Force of the zone. Although authorities claim that increased vigil has curbed crime rate but data presents another story. As many as 12,281 cases were registered under various section last year in which 1,29,559 persons got arrested out of which 12,580 were prosecuted. This figure is a whopping 181.79% more than compared to 2015; also percentage of cases registered under the Railways Act showed a sharp increase. RPF says that they will compromise on passenger security and a drive will launched soon against offenders on running trains and within railway premises. Besides this 357 minor boys and girls were rescued from human traffickers. 19 traffickers were also arrested in human trafficking. |
