The hassle of standing in lengthy queues to obtain train tickets may soon be a thing of the past. As many as 23 Automated Ticket Vending Machines (ATVM) will soon be installed in the Mysore Division of South Western Railway. In its bid to improve passenger amenities, Indian Railways has rolled out ATVMs across the country and five of them would be commissioned at the Mysore station. While four of them would be located at the main entrance, one would be placed at the second entrance (from CFTRI side).Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Anup Dayanand Sadhu said this would eliminate the long queues. The public has to procure a smartcard from vendors and swipe it to get the tickets, he added.Interacting with members of the Mysore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) here on Monday, he said the railways had also taken up a project to provide 100 escalators in various stations across the country, of which two had been sanctioned for the Mysore station.Responding to a demand for additional coaches for the train to Mangalore,Mr. Sadhu said that permission has been sought from the Commissioner of Railway Safety to augment the number of coaches from 16 to 23 and a response was awaited. |
