In order to make train journey safer, the Ministry of Railways has urged passengers not to carry and also not let their co-passengers to carry inflammable objects while travelling on the trains."Travelling in trains with explosives and inflammable objects like crackers, gas cylinder, acid, petrol, kerosene, dry grass/leaves, thermic welding, sigri, stove etc is not permitted," said the ministry in a statement on Wednesday."Carrying such inflammable objects on the trains is a punishable offence under Section 164 of the Railway Act, 1989 where the offender may get an imprisonment upto 3 years, or a fine of Rs. 1,000/- or both and under Section 165 where a fine of Rs. 500/- is applicable," it said.Passengers can use security helpline numbers -011-23303982, 011-23303983, 011-23303748 - in this regard. |
