An Indian railway company is preparing to connect the northeast Indian state of Nagaland with Burma, according to a local media report. The Nagaland Post on Thursday quoted an official from Northeast Frontier Railway saying the company was planning new lines to connect northeastern India with both Burma and Bangladesh. It said a survey was being conducted on a 160-mile line to link Indian states Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur, Tripura and Arunachal Pradesh to Tamu, in Burma’s Sagaing division. The plan is sanctioned by Indian Railways and could see new track laid in the next few years, the report said. |
