From this October onwards railway staff will be sporting designer uniforms with fluorescent jackets with black and yellow T-shirts. All railway employees including station masters, guards, TTEs board staff, loco pilot and catering personnel will wear new designed uniform. Currently railway employs about 5 lakh people and all these employees will be seen in new colours from October onwards. For front office staff full sleeve T-Shirts in Yellow and Black colour has been assigned. T-shirts will also carry embossed Indian Railway Logo. For the catering staff white with black border T-shirts has been created. Two types of half-fluorescent jackets - yellow and green - are being designed keeping TTEs, guards and drivers in mind. Presenting Railway budget of 2016 – 17 Suresh Prabhu, Union Railway minister said, “The uniforms of all customer-facing roles will be refurbished to clearly distinguished them on our network." The new uniform will also be given to the technical staff in workshops and production units. As part of Project Swarn, the new design would be tried on a few Rajdhani and Shatabdi trains first before extending to other services. |
