One of the busiest terminal of Indian Railways, New Delhi is gearing up for controlling energy consumption through smart system. On the station there are 1500 fans, 6000 lights and 18 high masts lights. Apart from this, station handles about 5 lakh passengers and more than 300 trains daily. With the help of web based smart power control system control on lights and fans will be synced with weather forecast. The total cost of system came around rupees 37 lakhs and it will allow railways to save energy of about rupees 13 lakh per annum. According to these figures rate of return is around 35% and carbon emission reduction will be around 70 tonnes per annum. The currently installed solar panel capacity is 412 KWP leading to annual saving of Rs 54 lakh. Another work under execution at New Delhi at Platform No 2/3 is for 140 KWP with annual saving of Rs 21 lakh has been undertaken at the division. |
