The City and Industrial Development Corporation (Cidco) will soon award bids for rolling stock and systems for Navi Mumbai’s first metro rail corridor – Belapur–Kharghar–Taloja–Pendhar.“A pre-bid meeting was conducted with bidders to reply to their queries last week. Soon, we will award contract for systems and rolling stock of Belapur–Pendhar metro,” said Sanjay Bhatia, managing director and vice-chairman of Cidco. The tender has an estimate cost of Rs1,020 crore and the corridor a price tag of Rs1,985 crore.Refuting reports about delay in the execution and deadline of the Navi Mumbai Metro project, Bhatia added that Cidco has not revised any completion date and the project is expected to be completed early in 2015.“We rescheduled the date for submission of bids so we could first resolve all queries raised by companies,” said Mohan Ninawe, public relations officer of Cidco. As per the schedule prepared, the installation and testing of rolling stock, once installed, is likely to happen in December 2014. Nine firms and consortia have shown interest to supply telecommunication, signalling, electrical, power supply systems, traction and SCADA, driving simulators, fare collection and rolling stock -- metro rakes and rails. The 11.10-km-long metro has been taken up as the first phase to connect Navi Mumbai with the proposed Navi Mumbai International Airport. A total of 11 metro stations have been planned along the corridor. | ||
