It was around 10.30 am when youth from the northeast began to gather at the Nashik road railway station here, waiting for the Lokmanya Tilak terminus – Guwahati Express.About 400-500 youths most of them working in Nashik industrial area or in near by towns like Igatpuri, Dindori, assembled in groups and wore an expression of confusion and worry.Amidst all these youngsters was a confident Anup Sharma, hailing from Shivsagar district in Upper Assam. “I don’t see any problem here. I have been working in Nashik for last 8 years and as of now there is no reason to worry. I have come to see off my friends who are leaving but I am going to stay back. There are many others like me”, he said.Bikram Hazarika echoes the same. “I actually don’t think any thing will happen or there is reason to panic. I am working here. If I leave, I will lose my job. My parents had called but I told them that I was safe”.The two friends who have stayed back with many others like them do not want to fuel rumours. They have taken police helpline numbers which in case they need it. But others on the platform no 2 of the railway station thought differently.Binando though reluctant to go was leaving for Khuntamari village in Bagsa district of Assam. “I work in Silvassa. We are a group working there and all of them decided to go back as our parents are worried.” |
