New Delhi: With the Maharashtra government having decided to bear half the cost of the proposed 265 km Pune-Nashik railway line, the Union government has referred the project to the Planning Commission for its approval.The project is estimated to cost Rs 1,899 crore as the per survey done in 2009-10 but the rate of return from the project has been projected at a minus 2.84 per cent, according to sources in the Railways Ministry here.The Maharashtra government had decided to chip in with 50 per cent of the cost in March.Pune and Nashik are fast developing cities and the direct rail link between the two will give a further boost to their development. |
