S.R. Jeyadurai, Tuticorin MP, has sought additional train service in the interest of passengers hailing from his constituency. He sought Union Railway Minister Mallikarjun Kharge to operate a train to Mumbai from Tuticorin, from where many had been frequenting Mumbai on business by other means of communication.A memorandum was submitted to Mr. Kharge seeking Tuticorin–Dadar (Mumbai) express train. Tuticorin, a Port City, which is also emerging as a power hub to suit the growing energy demands, had immense potential to introduce facilities of additional train services to various destinations. He said that Tuticorin required more trains to Chennai as passengers had to depend on Pearl City express at night and a daytime link express train. He also placed the demand for extending the Chennai Egmore – Tirunelveli (12631 / 12632) to Tiruchendur, a famous pilgrimage place. |
