The Madhya Pradesh Rail Coordination Committee will be constituted for accelerating the pace of implementation of rail projects connected to Madhya Pradesh and increasing rail facilities with coordination between railway officers and the State Government.Chief Secretary Avani Vaish chaired the first meeting of eight Divisional Railway Managers associated with Madhya Pradesh and senior officers of Madhya Pradesh Government here on Thursday. OSD in the Chief Secretary’s Office R Parasuram, West-Central Railway General Manager, Jabalpur Sunil Arya and senior officers of railways and the State Government attended the meeting.It was decided that meetings of the coordination committee will be held in every six months. The meeting also decided to constitute four sub-committees for accelerating the pace of development of rail facilities in Madhya Pradesh. These committees will be helpful in the implementation of works pertaining to land, forests, construction and finance. Meeting of the sub-committee will be held in every two months.Railways officers of DRM offices of Bhopal, Ratlam, Jabalpur, Bilaspur, Jhansi, Nagpur, Allahabad and Mumbai associated with Madhya Pradesh attended the meeting.The meeting chiefly discussed construction of orverbridges, underbridges, making more rakes available for transportation of wheat and fertilisers, gauge conversion of railway tracks, construction of VIP room at prominent railway stations, making better passenger facilities available and providing security during railway journeys.Vaish said that Madhya Pradesh’s interests were discussed in last November at a meeting with Chief Minister Shivraj Singh during the visit of Railway Minister to Bhopal.The participants felt the need for increasing coordination between the Centre and concerning departments of the State Government. At the meeting between the Railway Minister and the Chief Minister, it was decided to constitute a coordination committee for effective implementation.Under this strategy, important issues were discussed at on Thursday’s meeting. Vaish said that problems pertaining to railways will be solved at the earliest in the wake of coordination committee’s constitution and its regular meetings. Cooperation will especially be extended in removal of encroachments near railway stations, closure of dangerous railway level crossings and necessary action for gauge conversion. |
