The Ministry of Tourism (MoT), Government of India has undertaken joint development of tourist amenities at Amritsar, Rai Bareilli, Trivandrum, Gaya and Agra Cantt railway stations in association with Ministry of Railways, Government of India. MoT has granted a Central government assistance of Rs 10.28 crores, Rs 5.98 crore, Rs 5.18 crore and Rs 5.05 crore, respectively, for this purpose, stated a PIB release. This financial support is being provided as part of an initiative by Dr K Chiranjeevi, Minister of State with Independent Charge for Tourism, Government of India, to provide assistance to Central agencies for tourism infrastructure development.

As part of the initiative, Ministry of Railways shall make land for the project available free of cost and render all possible assistance for completion of the project on time. Also, Railways will set up a monitoring committee with a member from the MoT to monitor physical and financial progress of the projects.
