The Hyderabad metro rail project may have activists almost always on a song, opposing its every ill-planned move but the project's authorities are now humming a song of their own, literally. The metro rail authorities have now cut an album (you read that right) on, no surprises for guessing, the metro rail project. The album has five folk songs in Telugu and the songs not only explain the salient features of the metro rail but also its many benefits. Given that people have otherwise not been able to understand the logic behind a hugely derailed and delayed project that entails tall pillars supporting metro corridors zipping through the city's skyline, maybe a musical explanation would help. But there are more surprises in the album. Donning the poet's hat is none other than managing director of Hyderabad Metro Rail, NVS Reddy, himself. While he has company of another poet (Bandi Sattenna), we get a feeling that Reddy garu may have masterminded the song's lyrics. Last heard, officials wanted Ganpati pandals to keep the albums and distribute them for free to the public. |
