New Delhi : A group of over 100 children suffering from cancer along with their family members today visited Metro Museum at the Patel Chowk station and also travelled in the metro for the first time.Cancer-afflicted children and their family members enjoy a metro ride in New Delhi on Friday. Tribune photoThe children, who are in the age group of 5-14 and hail from different parts of the country, are under treatment for cancer under the aegis of an NGO CanKids…KidsCan. They spent over one hour in the metro travelling from the AIIMS station to the Patel Chowk station and back to the Race Course station. At the Patel Chowk station, they were shown around Metro Museum, according to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) spokesperson."We have been arranging visits for sections of the society who need special attention and care. We have arranged such joyrides for NGOs like Saksham Daksh from Noida involved with blind children, Masoom Duniya from Dwarka looking after mentally challenged children, Samarthyam working for people with different abilities and Family India Foundation dealing with underprivileged children," he said. |
