Till Friday, August 17 train services between Mangaluru and Hassan were cancelled following landslides on at least 20 sites between Subramanya and Sakleshpur. According to a South Western Railway (SWR) official, “Due to continuous heavy rainfall and since we expect more rain, it is unsafe to run trains from 5pm on Tuesday and up to 7am on August 17. Since Monday night, landslide have been reported in many places. Because of the continuous rainfall and lack of access to the spots where landslides have occurred, progress of restoration works has been affected.”
