In the near future, Secunderabad and Vijayawada railway station will get a thorough makeover which will include facilities like malls, restaurants and multiplexes. Both these railway stations are selected to be redeveloped in first phase itself under station redevelopment project. The primary focus of this project is to upgrade passenger amenities by redeveloping platform surfaces, renovating station premises and circulating area to serve the needs of passengers in a better way. Once the redevelopment project will get over, the ownership of land will remain with Railways but developers will hold the right for commercial exploitation of land at the stations for 45years. The project will be implemented under the Swiss challenge method which involves inviting a proposal online and permitting rival bidders to beat that proposal with a more attractive plan. | ||
