MYSORE: Kavya, 19, who was pushed out of a moving train by a group of four youths in Mandya on July 24, is likely to be discharged Monday.The victim is undergoing treatment at the Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences. The girl will be relocated to the state home for girls in Mandya or Mysore for counselling. She is physically fit, but the department will give counselling before sending Kavya with her grandmother Akkavamma who is claiming her custody, Vimala, deputy director of women and child welfare department, Mandya, told TOI.According her, the family is living in a pathetic condition. "She lost her mother a decade ago. Soon after, the girl's father abandoned her and brother. They were living with grandmother in a village in T Narasipura taluk till recently," Vimala said.

A resident of Mysore
The probe by the government railway police (GRP) has revealed that the girl, who was molested on a moving train, was not an orphan. She has a brother, grandmother and uncle at Yachenahalli of Bannur hobli in T Narasipura taluk. GRP DySP Mir Arif Ali said the victim is not a resident of Hubli as she told earlier, but is from Mysore. According Ali, the girl did not reveal her identity initially. She has aadhar card issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India.

Sources claimed that she left her village three months ago and was living in Bangalore as she was working in a garment factory.

Women's panel chief visits rape victim
