NEW DELHI/CHANDIGARH: Congress Legislature Party leader in Punjab Sunil Jakhar today met newly inducted ministers in the union cabinet and congratulated them for having been entrusted with challenging assignments. He called upon Union cabinet minister of Railways Pawan Kumar Bansal, Union Cabinet Minister of Law Ashwani Kumar Minister, State with Independent charge of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises K.H.Munniyappa and Ninag Ering, Minister of State for Minorities. While congratulating Bansal on assuming august office of Railway Minister , Jakhar said that now north and especially Punjab will see huge upside in railway projects and especially extension of Eastern freight corridor from Ludhiana to Amritsar and its early completion. He hoped that the railway network will also extend to border areas contiguous to Pakistan boundary especially to Abohar-Fazilka belt. He requested the minister to pay special attention to modernisation of railways in Punjab and major overhaul of the railway stations of Punjab which are in state of dilapidation. He drew attention of the minister to the huge demand of the people of Punjab for railway service to Mata Vaishno Devi. He hoped that very soon a direct railway link is established between Sri Ganganagar to Jammu & Katra via Abohar , Ferozpur and Jalandhar. Jakhar also met Union Cabinet Minister from Punjab Ashwani Kumar and congratulated him as representing Punjab in the union cabinet.Jakhar requested him to wield his influence in national social and economic policies to address to issues of unemployment and economic slump inflicting Punjab. He hoped that the issue of quality legal services to weaker sections of society will be addressed effectively. Minister of State of Micro , Small and Medium Enterprises (independent charge) K.H. Munniyappa warmly received Jakhar’s good wishes. He assured Jakhar that his concern about industrialisation of Punjab will be fully addressed and that he will ensure that existing industry in Punjab is helped in best possible way to tide over the crisis inflicting them. Jakhar requested the Minister to work out package for under industrialized districts of Punjab and especially border districts of Fazilka, Ferozpur, Tarantaran, Amritsar, Pathankot and Gurdaspur. |
