This year started-off with another train accident for railways indicating a tough year ahead. Derailment of Jagdalpur-Bhubaneswar Express left 32 people killed and 54 injured. The accident occurred at Andhra Pradesh's Vizianagaram district around 11:30PM when the train was going to Bhubaneswar. Out of total 22 coaches 9 coaches got derailed while rest 13 remained unaffected. Rail traffic on the coast line is suspended as of now. The nearest city from the accident site is Vishakhapatnam and at least three trains are cancelled and eight others are diverted. Thirteen unaffected coaches were sent to Rayagada from where they will proceed to Bhubaneswar via Sambhalpur – Angul route. A compensation of two lakh is announced for the kin of those killed in the accident and Rupees 50000 for injured. |
