DIWALI :: SPECIAL ARRANGEMENTS BY NORTHERN RAILWAY In order to meet the Diwali rush Northern Railway made some important arrangements for the benefit of the passengers.

NO SALE OF PLATFORM TICKET

Northern Railway decided to temporarily stop the sale of platform tickets at four busy stations. The following are the stations New Delhi, Old Delhi, Anand Vihar and Nizamuddin Railway stations. The ban of sale of platform tickets will remain effective till 23-11-2012. NO PASSENGER RESERVATION OFFICES

Northern Railway will close all the Computerized Passenger Reservation offices in New Delhi on 13-11-2012(02.00 pm -08.00 pm and 4.00 pm -10.00 pm).The reservation offices at Parliament House, Press Club of India, Supreme Court, Delhi University, Jawahar Lal Nehru University, IIT, Tis Hazari, High Court, Kashmiri Gate, Railway Board & Mushkil Assan Van facility will remain closed for the whole Diwali day(13-11-2012). ADDITIONAL BOOKING COUNTERS

Northern Railway introduced 25 Extra Booking Counters for Reserved tickets in New Delhi area, and 7 additional Counters for Unreserved tickets in New Delhi. Anand Vihar Terminal and Delhi Jn. SPECIAL TRAIN DISTRIBUITIION

Northern Railway distributed special trains at the 4 major Terminals to avoid overcrowding at any one particular stations. SPECIAL TRAINS AND EXTRA COACHES

Northern Railway announced 80 pairs of Special Trains with  1762 trips and Northern Railway augmented 15 pairs of trains  with 177 extra coaches.
