Under Suresh Prabhu our railway minister, railways is trying hard to change its age old image and form a new image between commuters around the world. Though it might take time but things will happen slowly. This year railway has decided to push on these ten things – 1. Railway lines of 3,500 kms 2. Modernisation and up-gradation of identified corridors 3. 500 stations will be made differently-abled-friendly 4. 7,000 stations will be powered by solar in the medium term 5. Unmanned level crossings on broad gauge lines will be eliminated 6. Rashtriya Rail Sanraksha Kosh will be created 7. 'Coach Mitra', a single-window interface to register all coach-related complaints and requirements 8. By 2019, all coaches of Indian Railways will be fitted with bio-toilets 9. SMS-based Clean My Coach Service 10. Tariffs of railways would be fixed, taking into consideration costs, quality of service and competition from other forms of transport. |
