For the first time Indian Railway had opened bidding for installation of solar panels across various locations through PPA mode and it is ReNew ventures that won bids for 5Megawatt solar panel installations. The total investment for the company will be close to Rupees 35crore and it will supply energy to Railway for 25years as per the agreement. 5Megawatt allocation has been divided under various zones which are – North Central Railway under which division of Kanpur and Allahabad falls, has been allocated 1MW South Western Railway – 1MW (Bengaluru and Hubli division) East Coast Railway – 1 MW (Vishakhapatnam Division) South Eastern Railway – 2MW (Division of Kharagpur, Adra, Chakradharpur and Jamshedpur) All the installation of Solar Panels will be done on buildings that fall under railway premises. Through this project more than 7milllion unit of power will be generated that will allow railway to cut more than 6000tonnes of carbon emissions. |
