এ-পার বাংলা ও-পার বাংলা ট্রেন যোগাযোগে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা নিতে চলেছে বনগাঁ সীমান্ত স্টেশন। এখন মৈত্রী এক্সপ্রেস চলে গেদে সীমান্ত দিয়ে। ওই ট্রেনে যাত্রী-সংখ্যা বেড়েছে দ্বিগুণেরও বেশি। আর গেদের সেই সাফল্যই বনগাঁ সীমান্ত দিয়ে ভারত ও বাংলাদেশের মধ্যে মৈত্রী-সফরের নতুন পথ খুলে দিতে পারে।
রেল প্রশাসন সূত্রের খবর, নতুন পথে আরও একটি মৈত্রী এক্সপ্রেস চালানোর ব্যাপারে দু’দেশের মধ্যে আলোচনা শুরু হয়েছে। এবং নীতিগত সম্মতি জানিয়েছে দু’পক্ষই। বল এখন ভারতের স্বরাষ্ট্র মন্ত্রকের কোর্টে। যাত্রাপথের নিরাপত্তা ব্যবস্থা যাচাই করে সবুজ সঙ্কেত দেবে তারাই।
এ-পারের সঙ্গে ও-পারের সৌহার্দ্য বিনিময়ে বনগাঁর নাম অবশ্য গেদের আগেই থাকবে। কারণ, বনগাঁ সীমান্ত দিয়ে দু’দেশের মধ্যে বাসযাত্রা (শ্যামলী ও সৌহার্দ্য) শুরু হয়েছিল আগেই। একই লক্ষ্যে গেদে সীমান্ত দিয়ে মৈত্রী এক্সপ্রেসের যাত্রা শুরু হয় ২০০৮ সালের ১৪ এপ্রিল। মূলত দু’পারের বাংলাভাষী মানুষের উৎসাহ আর উদ্দীপনার এই যাত্রায় গোড়ার দিকে ট্রেনে যাত্রী হচ্ছিল ভালই। কিন্তু পরে যাত্রী-সংখ্যাও কমতে শুরু করে।
কেন?
ভারতীয় রেলের খবর, সপ্তাহে এক দিন ঢাকা যাওয়ার পথে গেদে ও দর্শনায় ট্রেন থেকে নেমে পড়তে হয় যাত্রীদের। দু’দেশের ওই দুই সীমান্ত স্টেশনে প্রত্যেক যাত্রীর অভিবাসন সংক্রান্ত নথিপত্র খুঁটিয়ে পরীক্ষা করা হয়। এতে সময় লাগে প্রায় চার ঘণ্টা। রেলের এক মুখপাত্র জানান, বাংলাদেশি যাত্রীদের অধিকাংশই এ-পারে আসেন চিকিৎসা করাতে। অভিবাসন বিভাগের পরীক্ষার জন্য যাত্রাপথে দু’বার ট্রেন থেকে নেমে দীর্ঘ সময় বসে থাকাটা অসুস্থ মানুষ তো বটেই, সাধারণ যাত্রীদেরও বিরূপ করে তুলেছিল।
তার পরিণামে যাত্রী-সংখ্যাও কমতে শুরু করেছিল।

প্রথম তিন বছরের এই অভিজ্ঞতা থেকে শিক্ষা নিয়ে দু’দেশের রেলকর্তারা নিজেদের মধ্যে আলোচনা করে জটিলতা অনেকটাই কাটিয়ে ফেলেন। বিশেষ করে বাংলাদেশ সরকার যাতায়াতের পথে (দুই ট্রেনেই) অভিবাসন পরীক্ষার কাজ চলন্ত ট্রেনেই সেরে ফেলায় দর্শনা স্টেশনে নামা এবং দীর্ঘ সময় বসে থাকা থেকে রেহাই পান যাত্রীরা। ভারতের তরফে স্টেশনে নেমে অভিবাসন পরীক্ষার কাজ এখনও চলছে। তবে এ-পারেও বেশ কিছু জটিলতা কাটিয়ে ফেলা গিয়েছে। ফলে সব মিলিয়ে গত দু’বছরে মৈত্রীর যাত্রী-সংখ্যা বেড়েছে। ট্রেনযাত্রার সময়ও কমেছে অনেকটাই। রেলের তথ্য জানাচ্ছে, প্রথম বছর কলকাতা থেকে ঢাকা যাওয়ার ভারতীয় রেলে যাত্রী-সংখ্যা ছিল ৪৪৭৩। গত বছর তা বেড়ে হয়েছে ৯৭৬৪। চলতি আর্থিক বছরের প্রথম পাঁচ মাসে যাত্রী-সংখ্যা বেড়ে ৪০৮০ হয়ে গিয়েছে। একই হারে বাংলাদেশ রেলের যাত্রী বেড়েছে গত দু’বছরে।
সাফল্যের এই ছবিটাই বনগাঁ সীমান্ত দিয়ে মৈত্রী এক্সপ্রেস চালানোর ভাবনায় অক্সিজেনের কাজ করেছে। বনগাঁ সীমান্ত দিয়ে প্রস্তাবিত রুটে যশোহর হয়ে খুলনা পর্যন্ত যাবে ট্রেন। ভারতীয় রেল বোর্ডের খবর, এই বিষয়ে দু’দেশের রেলকর্তাদের মধ্যে ইতিমধ্যে বেশ কয়েক দফা আলোচনা হয়েছে। বাংলাদেশের মতো এ দেশেও অভিবাসন বিভাগের পরীক্ষার ব্যাপারটা চলন্ত ট্রেনেই সেরে ফেলা যায় কি না, তা খতিয়ে দেখা হচ্ছে। এই ব্যবস্থা চালু হলে দর্শনার মতো এখানেও যাত্রীদের প্রায় দু’ঘণ্টা সময় বাঁচবে। তাতে যাত্রী আরও বাড়বে বলে আশা করা হচ্ছে।
রেল প্রতিমন্ত্রী অধীর চৌধুরীও এই ব্যাপারে রেল বোর্ডের কর্তাদের কাছে খোঁজখবর নিয়েছেন। পরিকল্পনাটি কোথায় আটকে আছে, তা খতিয়ে দেখে প্রয়োজনীয় ব্যবস্থা নেওয়ার নির্দেশও দিয়েছেন তিনি। অধীরবাবুর অনুকূল বার্তা পেয়ে নতুন উদ্যমে ফাইল চালাচালি শুরু হয়েছে রেল ও স্বরাষ্ট্র মন্ত্রকের মধ্যে। রেল সূত্রে জানা গিয়েছে, বনগাঁ সীমান্ত দিয়েই অনেক আগে কলকাতা-উত্তরবঙ্গ ও কলকাতা-অসম ট্রেন চলত। তাই যাত্রাপথে বেশির ভাগ এলাকায় লাইন পাতা রয়েছে। বাংলাদেশের মুক্তিযুদ্ধের সময়েও এই পথে ট্রেন চলত। পরে যাত্রিবাহী ট্রেন চলাচল পুরোপুরি বন্ধ হয়ে যায়। এখন শুধু মালগাড়ি চলে। রেলের প্রাক্তন কর্তা সুভাষরঞ্জন ঠাকুর আশাবাদী, “এই রুটে ট্রেন চললে যাত্রী-সংখ্যা অনেক বেড়ে যাবে।”
রেলের এক মুখপাত্র জানান, বনগাঁ থেকে যশোহর-খুলনা রুটে ট্রেন চলাচল শুরু হলে আগের মতো উত্তরবঙ্গ ও অসম-রুটে রেল চালানোর ভাবনাও ফের শুরু হবে।

The Union Cabinet today cleared a proposal of Railways to give its employees 78-day wages as bonus for 2012-13.Productivity-linked bonus is paid to railway employees each year before the Dussehra festival."The Union Cabinet today approved the proposal of the Ministry of Railways for payment of Productivity-Linked Bonus (PLB) equivalent to 78 days wages for the financial year 2012-13 for all eligible non-gazetted railway employees," said a government statement.Over 12.37 lakh non-gazetted railway employees will benefit from the decision of the Cabinet.The PLB equivalent to 78 days wages will be paid as a special case considering the good financial performances which is expected to motivate the employees, the statement said.The financial implication of payment of 78 days' bonus to railway employees, the same as last year, has been estimated to be over Rs 1043.43 crore.The wage calculation ceiling prescribed for payment of bonus to eligible non-gazetted railway employees is Rs 3,500 per month and an employee is likely to get about Rs 8,975 as this year's bonus.During 2012-13, the Gross Traffic Receipt (GTR) of Railways was Rs 1.24 lakh crore, an increase of 18.85 per cent against GTR of Rs. 1.04 crore during 2011-12.While Railway unions had demanded more than 78 days of bonus as Railways had given bonus of as many days last year also, Railways officials said they would be hard-pressed to give more bonus than last year given the financial condition of the organisation.

Though there are a total of 13.26 lakh railway employees, 1.26 lakh are not covered under the bonus.

Twelve Special Trains between Tiruchchirappalli and Sai Nagar Shirdi for Festival Season

In order to clear extra rush of passengers during ensuing festival season, twelve Special Trains will be run between Tiruchchirappalli and Sai Nagar Shirdi as per the following schedule:-
Accordingly, Train No. 06806 Tiruchchirappalli - Sai Nagar Shirdi Weekly Special Train will depart Tiruchchirappalli at 16 00 hrs on 7th, 14th, 21st 28thOctober, 4th and 11th November 2013 (Mondays) and arrive Sai Nagar Shirdi at 03 25 hrs o­n Wednesdays.
In the opposite direction, Train No. 06805 Sai Nagar Shirdi-Tiruchchirappalli Weekly Special Train will depart Sai Nagar Shirdi at 08 25 hrs o­n 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th October 6th and 13thNovember 2013 (Wednesdays) and arrive Tiruchchirappalli at 15 15 hrs o­n Thursdays.
Enroute, these special trains will stop at Srirangam, Vriddhachalam, Villupuram, Chengalpattu, Tambaram, Chennai Egmore, Arakkonam, Tiruttani, Puttur, Renigunta, Koduru, Rajampet, Cuddapah, Yerraguntla, Tadipatri, Gooty, Guntakal, Adoni, Manthralayam Rd, Raichur, Yadgir, Wadi, Solapur and Daund stations in both directions.
            These special trains will have 20 coaches viz, o­ne AC II Tier, two AC III Tier, thirteen Sleeper Class, two General Second Class and two Luggage cum Brake Van Coaches.

Mumbai:  The suburban railway services were hit Tuesday after 17 coaches that were being shunted derailed at 4.15 am near Parel car shed. At least 50 services were cancelled and many more delayed as all the five lines between Mahalaxmi and Lower Parel on Western Railway were blocked.

An inquiry has been ordered into the incident, a senior railway official said.

According to railway officials, the coaches were being sent off for periodic overhauls (POH), when the rear set of wheels derailed near the track while it was entering the Parel car shed. The derailment blocked the entire suburban section. POH is the overall maintenance work conducted on railway coaches every 18 months.

“Coaches scheduled for maintenance are generally sent off to the car shed when local services are not operating. The crossovers connecting tracks between the two stations are so designed that all the coaches that were being sent off blocked the tracks,” said an official.

Officials said normalcy in services was restored after 8 am.

KOLHAPUR: The Konkan railway officials in a statement said that Konkan Railway has earned Rs 50.10 crore from its Roll on-Roll off service for transportation of loaded trucks from Mumbai area to southern states. The Konkan railway has started the service more than a decade ago. In last 15 years, the railways have earned Rs 205.60 crore so far. The Railways had offered a special service for the heavy commercial vehicles to transport the loaded trucks to the southern parts of the country. The offer proved to be economical as the railways is not charging very high amount while the trucks are saving heavy expenses on fuel and maintenance. It also reduces transportation time as the railway speed is faster. The annual transport figure is close to 35,000 and it is increasing every year as demand for goods is going up. The railways need more allocation of compartments to transport the vehicles while the vehicles also need a service like Ro-Ro to minimize their expenses over fuel costs and wages.

The proposed connection of Karad with Chiplun is also another aspect which may increase the number of vehicles going to south via train route. The survey is going on from Chiplun to Karad town, which will cover aspects like increase in potential revenue, growth in the business and infrastructure for the project. The railway officials also said that the survey was done by a private company and it will submit a detailed report about it soon.

पानीपत : रेलवे विजिलेंस की टीम ने बुधवार को पानीपत स्टेशन पर छापा मारा। रेलवे टिकट का मोलभाव करते हुए एक दलाल को मौके पर धर दबोचा। रिजर्वेशन काउंटर पर तैनात एक रेलकर्मी के हिसाब में गड़बड़ी मिली। विजिलेंस छापे की कार्रवाई से हड़कंप मचा रहा।

विजिलेंस की टीम सुबह लगभग 10.30 बजे जनशताब्दी एक्सप्रेस से पानीपत स्टेशन पहुंची। टीम में शामिल विनोद व रियाज अहमद ने सर्वप्रथम बुकिंग कार्यालय पर छापेमारी की। छापेमारी के दौरान एक रिजर्वेशन काउंटर का चुकता हिसाब सही नहीं पाया, जो पैसे कम मिले ड्यूटी पर तैनात रेलकर्मी से उसका चुकता करा लिया। रेलकर्मी को विभागीय चार्जशीट थमाने की बात कही जा रही है। विजिलेंस टीम ने बुकिंग कार्यालय के रिकार्ड भी चेक किए। रिजर्वेशन कतार में खड़े टिकट दलालों को जैसे ही छापे की भनक लगी वे फौरन वहां से भाग गए। एक टिकट दलाल रमेश को मौके पर मोलभाव करते धर दबोचा। आरपीएफ ने रेलवे एक्ट के तहत टिकट दलाल पर मामला दर्ज कर लिया।

विजिलेंस व आरपीएफ की संयुक्त कार्रवाई में स्टेशन परिसर में दो वेंडर दबोचे गए। अवैध तरीके से खानपान बेचने के आरोप में वेंडरों पर रेलवे एक्ट 144 के तहत मामला दर्ज कर लिया गया। टिकट दलाल व वेंडरों को बृहस्पतिवार को अदालत में पेश किया जाएगा।
