Udaipur: The luxury train, ‘Royal Rajasthan on Wheels’ started by Rajasthan Tourism in conjunction with Indian Railways will start on its journey from Safdarjung railway station in New Delhi  on October 6. There will be 26 passengers on board the train as compared to the actual limit, which is 82.

During its journey of seven nights or eight days, the train would start on its royal journey from New Delhi and travel through Jodhpur, Chittorgarh, Udaipur, Sawai Madhopur, Jaipur, Khajuraho in Madhya Pradesh and then enter Agra for the tourists to visit Taj Mahal. Apart from Agra in Uttar Pradesh, the train would travel through Varanasi back to Delhi.

Proving to be a perfect example of travelling extravaganza, this train offers a travel experience that attracts tourists from far and wide. With interiors furnished with details that remind one of the bygone era of splendor and magnificence, this train contains all items of luxury such as ‘spa’, ‘gym’ among others.

The royal luxury train, designed to satisfy the growing demand of luxury train travelling, has a capacity of 82 passengers on board and its fare is 5775 $ per person and its cost per person per suite is estimated to be 11,200 $.

In view of the strike in Andhra Pradesh Power Transmission Corporation o­n account of Samaikya Andhra agitation, the following trains are cancelled/partially cancelled/diverted o­n 6th & 7thOctober 2013.

Diversion of Trains:

2)  Train No. 12733 Tirupati-Secunderabad Narayanadri Expressdeparting Tirupati at 18 25 hrs today i.e., 6th October 2013 is diverted to run via Renigunta, Gooty, Dhone and Kacheguda.

Over 70 railway stations in the city will soon be provided with infrastructure that will encourage commuters to shun motorised transport. It will also aid in better connectivity.

A survey of four corridors — Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS), suburban lines from Chennai Beach to Tambaram, Chennai Central to Gummidipoondi and Chennai Central to Tiruvallur — will begin next month.

Non-motorised transport infrastructure at stations will include bicycle tracks and partial pedestrianisation and this is likely to enhance the ambience around the stations, providing last-mile connectivity.

According to officials in the Chennai unified metropolitan transport authority (Cumta), a five-km radius around each station will be studied over an 11-month period.

An inventory of all roads and existing civic infrastructure in the neighbourhoods will be made, covering aspects such as deficiencies in parking facilities. Civic development work will be taken up in the five-km radius based on the plan for each neighbourhood.

“Suburban stations in Pazhavanthangal and St. Thomas Mount require better infrastructure for non-motorised connectivity. These areas also suffer from poor bus connectivity. This bothers commuters,” said A. Raghavan, a resident of Nanganallur.

The proposed civic improvement near these stations will also facilitate bus connectivity and new parking lots.

“Simple alterations in areas near Park station or Chintadripet MRTS will increase the number of users at these stations. We are trying our best. But proper planning is required. A number of residents in slums near the stations are likely to be evicted shortly. The authorities should make optimum use of the land to create infrastructure,” said M. Pandian, councillor of ward 62 under which Park station and Chintadripet MRTS fall.

Bus stops near the stations will also have information kiosks to help commuters get information on distances and bus timing. “After implementation of the project, ridership will improve,” said an official.

Roads forming a loop around the proposed super-specialty hospital in Omandurar Government Estate are on the list for civic infrastructure for non-motorised transport.

Ratnagiri:  A major tragedy was averted after Konkan Railway’s Mumbai-Goa Mandovi Express derailed on Sunday afternoon.

Konkan Railway will remain affected till the restoration work is completed on the single-line track.

National trains passing the route will also remain affected. Railway police said that the driver of the speeding train spotted a track fracture on time and braked the train, averting a major crash.

Initial reports said there were no injures.  The locomotive and the first coach of the train went off the track near Khed station after the incident. The derailed Mandovi Express had advanced WDP-4 diesel-electric locomotive that has aircraft-like sound. It took the brunt of the fall.

Due to disruption in the power supply to train operations, caused by strike in Andhra Pradesh Power Transmission Corporation, the following trains are cancelled/partially cancelled  as detailed below:-

Trains Partially Cancelled:

    T.No. 66033 Tirupati-Nellore Passenger of today (6.10.13) is partially cancelled between Venkatagiri and Nellore.

Jaipur: Bad news for Jaipurites. The commercial run of Jaipur Metro may get delayed further. The ‘oscillation trial’ of the Metro will start after the Diwali festival in November. In oscillation trial, engineers usually check the impact of vibration on the tracks when the train is on the move. Experts also check other things like wobbling of coaches at different locations.

The officials of Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation (JMRC) are yet to announce the date on which it will start the oscillation trial of the train. The Research Design and Standards Organisation (RDSO) wing of ministry of railways will supervise the trial.

Earlier, the JMRC officials were saying that the commercial run of Metro would start in December. But as many trials and formalities are still pending, it seems the commercial run of the train will begin only by the end of January next year. Subodh Jain, a member (engineering), Railway Board and ex-officio secretary to Central government, along with other officials inspected the Jaipur Metro sites on Saturday.

Jain checked the railway tracks, electrification work, signalling system and viaduct. He also took a ride in the Metro from Mansarovar to Shyam Nagar station.

After the inspection, Jain said, “Oscillation trial is a necessary test to be conducted before the commercial run of the Metro. During this trial, engineers will test the impact of vibrations of running train on the tracks. The ‘criteria committee’ will also test the welding of tracks.”



Jain added that every city takes time to ‘adjust to the Metro’. “Jaipur residents will also take time to align their schedule with the Metro services. It is generally seen that the main problem faced by Metro officials is aligning the Metro’s timings with that of local buses, their connecting routes and traffic management.”

According to the JMRC officials, the oscillation trial will take a time of around one month. After the completion of this trail, the file would reach the table of commissioner of Metro safety.

Meanwhile, the South Central Railway has cancelled several passenger trains running on Kazipet-Vijayawada, Vijayawada-Gudur-Tirupati sections on Sunday with a view to handle any situation arising out of possible break in power supply to Railways.

In the morning, three trains were stopped between Vijayawada-Gudur by Samaikhyandhra agitators and later they were resumed with police escort, sources said.

The Jaipur-Chennai Express, Secunderabad-Gudur Simhapuri Express and Yaswantapur-Howrah Express trains were stopped on Vijayawada-Gudur Section, railway sources said. Meanwhile, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy appealed to the employees of the power generation, transmission corporations and and distribution companies "to resume their duties immediately since their strike is seriously impacting important services like hospitals, drinking water, railways etc."

He held a review meeting on the situation with senior officials of energy department, transmission and distribution companies, official sources said.

A special train will be run between Nanded & Bikaner to clear extra rush of passengers .
