Padmavathi and Narayanadri Expresses from Tirupati to Secunderabad to run on normal route

TRAIN NO. 12764 TIRUPATI-SECUNDERABAD PADMAVATHI EXPRESSand TRAIN NO. 12733 TIRUPATI-SECUNDERABAD NARAYANADRI EXPRESS departing Tirupati today i.e., 6th October 2013 which were earlier intimated to run o­n diverted route (vide PR No. 333) will now run o­n NORMAL ROUTEonly.

Vijayanagaram: Curfew has been imposed in Vizianagaram town with police given the orders to shoot at sight in the wake of large-scale violence by anti-bifurcation agitators, police said in Hyderabad. Additional forces have also been rushed to the district. More than 50,000 employees of the electricity department have threatened to boycott work. As a precautionary measure, the railways have cancelled fifteen passenger trains. "In view of the prevailing situation in Seemandhra and also the commencement of strike by the electricity department employees, this morning railways have cancelled 15 passenger trains on Vijaywada to Kanchipet and also to Vijaywada, Gonur, Renigunta, Tirupati sections," said Railway PRO K Sambasiva Rao.

Describing the revision of railway fares as unjustifiable, Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalithaa on Sunday said the latest proposal would put an additional financial burden of about Rs. 1,150 crore on the people and demanded its immediate rollback.  The Railways has decided to increase the passenger fare and freight tariff by about 2% from tomorrow to offset the financial burden arising out of increased input cost.   "For the next six months about Rs. 1,150 crore financial burden has been placed on people through the revision of railway fares. Through this, low and middle income groups will suffer more. I strongly condemn the proposal to increase the fares and ur ge the Centre for its rollback", she said in a release.   Referring to the early practice of revising fuel prices every six months, she said the Union government has subsequently led (the oil marketing companies) to revise it every month.   Similarly, the practice of hiking railway fares every two years has been revised to every six months, she said, adding, "This is a betrayal to the common man".   She alleged that if the UPA government had prevented various scams like the 2G spectrum scam, coal scam and Commonwealth Games scam, revising fuel prices for every month may have been "avoided".   "At a time when the price of essential commodities are increasing and fuel prices have been hiked, how far is it justifiable for the Centre, to revise the price of Railway fares?," she asked.

Diversion of Trains:
      1)Train No. 12764 Tirupati-Secunderabad Padmavathi Expressdeparting Tirupati at 17 00 hrs today i.e., 6th October 2013 is diverted to run via Renigunta, Gooty, Dhone and Kacheguda.
2)  Train No. 12733 Tirupati-Secunderabad Narayanadri Expressdeparting Tirupati at 18 25 hrs today i.e., 6th October 2013 is diverted to run via Renigunta, Gooty, Dhone and Kacheguda.

Ratnagiri:  A major tragedy was averted after Konkan Railway’s Mumbai-Goa Mandovi Express derailed on Sunday afternoon.

Konkan Railway will remain affected till the restoration work is completed on the single-line track.

National trains passing the route will also remain affected. Railway police said that the driver of the speeding train spotted a track fracture on time and braked the train, averting a major crash.

Initial reports said there were no injures.  The locomotive and the first coach of the train went off the track near Khed station after the incident. The derailed Mandovi Express had advanced WDP-4 diesel-electric locomotive that has aircraft-like sound. It took the brunt of the fall.

Over 70 railway stations in the city will soon be provided with infrastructure that will encourage commuters to shun motorised transport. It will also aid in better connectivity.

A survey of four corridors — Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS), suburban lines from Chennai Beach to Tambaram, Chennai Central to Gummidipoondi and Chennai Central to Tiruvallur — will begin next month.

Non-motorised transport infrastructure at stations will include bicycle tracks and partial pedestrianisation and this is likely to enhance the ambience around the stations, providing last-mile connectivity.

According to officials in the Chennai unified metropolitan transport authority (Cumta), a five-km radius around each station will be studied over an 11-month period.

An inventory of all roads and existing civic infrastructure in the neighbourhoods will be made, covering aspects such as deficiencies in parking facilities. Civic development work will be taken up in the five-km radius based on the plan for each neighbourhood.

“Suburban stations in Pazhavanthangal and St. Thomas Mount require better infrastructure for non-motorised connectivity. These areas also suffer from poor bus connectivity. This bothers commuters,” said A. Raghavan, a resident of Nanganallur.

The proposed civic improvement near these stations will also facilitate bus connectivity and new parking lots.

“Simple alterations in areas near Park station or Chintadripet MRTS will increase the number of users at these stations. We are trying our best. But proper planning is required. A number of residents in slums near the stations are likely to be evicted shortly. The authorities should make optimum use of the land to create infrastructure,” said M. Pandian, councillor of ward 62 under which Park station and Chintadripet MRTS fall.

Bus stops near the stations will also have information kiosks to help commuters get information on distances and bus timing. “After implementation of the project, ridership will improve,” said an official.

Roads forming a loop around the proposed super-specialty hospital in Omandurar Government Estate are on the list for civic infrastructure for non-motorised transport.

Trains Partially Cancelled:

Jaipur: The festival of Diwali is not far and the Railways already thought of gifting the people ahead of the festival by running three special trains on route from Jaipur to Asansol. The addition of these trains have not only saved commuters from waiting for long hours in the queue but also provided relief. The trains would ply from Asansol to Jaipur and back to Asansol on a weekly basis. There are weekly trains from Ahmedabad to Jaipur and back to Ahmedabad. Another train would be seen on the tracks of Ahmedabad to Lucknow and back to Ahmedabad on a weekly basis.

The train from Jaipur to Asansol was flagged off on Saturday at eight in the morning.

As per information released by the Ministry of Railways, the train from Jaipur to Asansol was flagged off on October 5 will continue to ply on an weekly basis till November 30. The train would start from Jaipur at 8 am on every Saturday and would reach Asansol the next day at 9.25 am. The train from Asansol to Jaipur would start on Friday at 9 am from Asansol and reach Jaipur at 6.30 am. The schedule will be followed till November 29.

The train would stop at Dhanbad, Koderma, Gaya, Dehri on Sone, Sasaram, Mughalsarai, Allahabad, Kanpur, Tundla, Agra Fort, Bandikui, Dausa, and Gandhi Nagar stations.

The timings of the Ahmedabad-Jaipur-Ahmedabad weekly trains are a special train from Ahmedabad to Jaipur from October 18 to November 29 with the train starting from Ahmedabad, every Friday, at 4.30 pm and reach Jaipur on the next day at 6.35 am. The train from Jaipur would start from October 19 at 8 am and reach Ahmedabad at 7.35 pm the next day. This schedule is expected to continue till November 30. The train would cross Sabarmati, Mehsana, Palanpur, Abu Road, Sirohi Road, Falna, Rani, Marwad junction, Byavar, Ajmer, Kishangarh, and Fulehra stations.

The special train that would ply on Ahmedabad-Lucknow-Ahmedabad route would be scheduled from October 14 to November 25 as: Special weekly train would start from Ahmedabad on every Monday at 11.35 am and reach the next day at Jaipur at 11.20 am, at Lucknow at 2.30 pm. The train from Lucknow to Ahmedabad would be scheduled on a weekly basis from October 16 to November 27 with train from Lucknow starting at 2.30 pm and reaching Jaipur at 6.35 pm, and on Thursday to Ahmedabad at 7.15 pm. This train would stop at Sabarmati, Mehsana, Palanpur, Abu Road, Falna, Marwar Junction, Ajmer, Kishangarh, Jaipur, Gandhi Nagar, Dausa, Bandikui, Bharatpur, Achnera, Mathura Junction, Mathura Chhavni, Haathras city, Kaasganj, Gunjdudwada, Farukkabad, Kanauj, Kanpur, and Anwarganj stations.
