Secunderabad: Disruption in power supply owing to anti-Telangana stir hit train services, especially those bound to Tirupati, Vijayawada, Guntakal and Guntur in Seemandhra region, but the railways ensured that the problem does not affect its all India operations.

“As a precautionary measure and to ensure continuous supply of power with adequate voltage to haul Express Trains in case of possible shortfall in power supply, the movements of goods trains in some sections have been temporarily curtailed.

Also, 25 passenger trains and 6 express trains have been cancelled and 5 passenger Trains have been partially cancelled, many of which are for the purpose of rake balancing,” sources informed.

In view of the power crisis the railways have cancelled a number of trains starting from here and passing through on Tuesday, including major trains like Godavari, Ratnachal, Simhadri and Dakshin link, according to a release from the East Coast Railway. A number of express trains, scheduled to leave or passing through Visakhapatnam, have been cancelled on Tuesday also. Visakhapatnam-Hyderabad Godavari Express, Visakhapatnam-Secunderabad Janmabhoomi Express, Visakhapatnam-Secunderabad Duronto, Visakhapatnam-Vijayawada Ratnachal Express, Visakhapatnam-Tirupathi Tirumala Express, Visakhapatnam-Secunderabad Garib Rath, Visakhapatnam-Nanded Express, Visakhapatnam-Guntur Simhadri Express, Visakhapatnam-Nizamuddin Dakshin Link Express, Koraput –Visakhapatnam Intercity have all been cancelled, according to an official release.

Train no. 18411/18412 Bhubaneswar-Visakhapatnam-Bhubaneswar Intercity, 17015 Visakha Express and 12898 Bhubaneswar-Puducherry weekly Express and all passengers trains, cancelled on Monday, will remain cancelled on Tuesday also.

Meanwhile, many passenger trains were either cancelled or short-terminated on Monday owing to the agitation by the A.P.GENCO and A.P. TRANSCO employees and the high tension power-grids not being attended depriving 25 KV power supply to overhead electric traction, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager of Waltair Division M. Yelevender Yadav said in a statement. Several trains were running late.

The following trains were cancelled:

Train No.18412 Visakhapatnam-Bhubaneswar Intercity express; 67292 Visakhapatnam-Vizianagaram MEMU; 18512 Visakhapatnam-Koraput Intercity express; 58504 Visakhapatnam-Rayagada passenger; 78532 Visakhapatnam-Palasa passenger; 58530 Visakhapatnam-Durg passenger; 58528 Visakhapatnam-Raipur; 67295 Rajahmundry-Visakhapatnam; 57225 Vijayawada-Visakhapatnam; 67296 Visakhapatnam-Rajahmundry; 57230 Visakhapatnam-Machilipatnam and 57256 Visakhapatnam-Kakinada were cancelled.

Train no.18411 Bhubaneshwar-Visakhapatnam intercity express was short-terminated at Sompeta and no.58417 Puri-Gunupur passenger was short-terminated at Rambha.

              The 04506 Chandigarh- Varanasi Express Puja Special train will depart from Chandigarhon 08.10.2013, 11.10.2013 & 15.10.2013 (03 trips) at 11.15 P.m. to reach Varanasi at 05.30 p.m. the next day. In the return direction, the 04505 Varanasi- Chandigarh Express Puja Special train will depart from Varanasi 09.10.2013, 12.10.2013 & 16.10.2013 (03 trips) at 09.10 p.m. to reach Chandigarh at 02.30 p.m. the next day.

औरंगाबाद: औरंगाबाद ते मुंबई आणि औरंगाबाद ते दिल्लीकडे जाणाऱ्या प्रवाशांसह इतर रेल्वेतून जाणाऱ्या अनेक प्रवाशांना वाढलेल्या तिकिट दराचे भाडे , रेल्वे तिकिट तपासणी अधिकाऱ्यांकडे भरावे लागले. जनशताब्दी वगळता इतर रेल्वेतून प्रवास करणाऱ्या या रेल्वे प्रवाशांना अचानक प्रवासादरम्यान भाडेवाढीचा फटका सहन करावा लागला. औरंगाबाद ते मुंबई आणि औरंगाबाद ते दिल्ली या मार्गासाठी दहा ते तीस रुपयाचा भुर्दंड प्रवाशांना सहन करावा लागला.

रेल्वे विभागाने अचानक रविवारी मध्य रात्रीपासून रेल्वेच्या प्रवास दरात दोन टक्क्यांची वाढ केली. सचखंड एक्सप्रेसने औरंगाबाद ते दिल्ली प्रवास करणाऱ्या प्रवाशांना प्रत्ये‌क तिकिटाच्या मागे दहा ते तीस रूपये अतिरिक्त पैसे प्रवासादरम्यान भरावे लागले. याशिवाय दररोज नियमित प्रवास करणाऱ्यांच्या तिकिटामध्ये ३० रुपयांवरील तिकिटावर एक रूपया वाढीने तिकिट घ्यावे लागले आहे. रेल्वेचे दर दोन टक्क्याने वाढविण्यात आले आहे. जुन्या दरात तिकिट घेऊन सोमवारी प्रवास करणाऱ्या प्रवाशांकडून पैसे वसूल करण्यासाठी रेल्वे स्थानकावर विशेष तिकिट तपासणी अधिकारी किंवा पर्यवेक्षकाची नेमणूक करण्यात येत होती. याशिवाय , प्रवासादरम्यान प्रवाशांकडून तिकिट तपासणी अधिकारी यांनी वाढीव दराप्रमाणे तिकिटावरील वाढीव पैसे वसूल करून त्यांना पावती देण्यात येत असल्याची माहिती नांदेड रेल्वे विभागाचे वाणिज्यिक विभागाचे चार्ल्स हेरेंज यांनी दिली.

With the Dasara and Navratri festivities beginning in the state, the railway stations are witnessing a mad rush of people heading towards the Seemandhra districts.
With the festival season beginning this Saturday and extending up to Bakrid next Wed-nesday, there were long queues of passengers waiting for trains and private buses at stations and terminuses in the twin cities as well as in the districts.

SCR meanwhile, cancelled 30 trains on Monday as after the Vijayawada division, the Waltair division of East Coast Railway felt the Samaikyandhra heat due to shortage of power supply to run the trains. EcoR authorities cancelled at least 10 passenger trains and were trying to make alternate ar-rangements with diesel engines.

SCR Vijayawada divisional manager P. Pradeep Kumar said that passengers could contact the helpline number 0866-2576796 and 10 other lines. Meanwhile, the cancellations hit transport connectivity in Seemandhra districts and also between major cities like Chennai and Visakhapatnam as in the absence of RTC buses, the trains were the only means of public transport for commuters. Railway officials cancelled over 20 passenger trains in the Vijayawada division on Monday. Express trains like the Janashatabdi and Pinakini were also cancelled.

Around Rs 1.27 lakh cash kept inside the railway ticket counter at Junction railway Station at Kottar near here on Sunday night has been reported missing from the counter.

According to sources, senior commercial clerk Muthuswamy Pandian was on duty at the ticket counter at Junction railway station on Sunday from 10 am to 8 pm. After finishing his work at around 8 pm, Pandian counted the cash amounting to Rs 1.27 lakh collected through ticket sale and kept it on a table behind him, sources said.

Meanwhile, after keeping the money on the table, Muthuswamy Pandian started checking the accounts. During the course of work, when he turned back, he was shocked to find the cash kept on the table missing, said railway police.

On information railway police led by Inspector Paulraj rushed to the ticket counter and conducted an enquiry. Except railway staff, none other could enter the ticket counter and the table in which Pandian was said to have kept the cash was also not approachable through the ticket counter opening, said railway police.

Subsequently, the railway police conducted an enquiry with three railway employees who were at the ticket counter when the incident occurred on Sunday. Following a complaint from Pandian, railway police filed a FIR and are investigating.

To address the grievances of retired railway officials, Northern Railway holds the Pension Adalat or Pensioners Grievances Tribunal each year. In the current year, the Pension Adalat shall be held at 11.00 a.m. o­n 16.12.2013. The Pension Adalat shall be held at the Zonal Headquarters Office at Baroda House, New Delhiand at all its’ Divisional Headquarters Offices i.e. Delhi, Firozpur, Ambala, Lucknow and Moradabad o­n the same day.

The Zonal Headquarters Office, Baroda House, New Delhi shall adjudicate o­n the grievances pertaining to employees retired from Headquarters Office, Electrical Workshop, Dayabasti, Dy. Controller of Stores, Shakurbasti and from the office of Chief Administrative Officer/ Kashmere Gate/Delhi. The retired railway employee who intends to submit his/her application relating to his/her pension/ settlement dues is required to forward two copies each of his/her application along with relevant documents to the Dy. Chief Personnel Officer, Headquarters office or the Sr. Divisional Personnel Officer of respective Division in case he/she has retired from there.  The last date of receipt of all applications is 01.11.2013.

Parts of southern India stared at dark days and huge industrial losses as the southern power grid creaked on Tuesday with workers at generating units shutting down thermal plants. Thousands of villages and towns remained cut off from power supply due to electricity employees' strike protesting bifurcation of the state.On October 3, the Union Cabinet had decided to go ahead with the process for the creation of a separate Telangana state carved out from Andhra Pradesh.The electricity employees strike has badly hit power supply to all major establishments and services including airports, railways, and hospitals and for supply of drinking water.

Power generation at Srisailama Right Canal Hydal Unit and Vijayawada, Rayalaseema and Simhadri Thermal Units was almost stopped suffering huge power losses.

Rail and air traffic beside emergencies like medical services have been badly hit due to lack of electricity. Tirupati and Vijayawada airports are running on backup power.

Despite severe hardships, people and state employees in Rayalaseema and coastal Andhra regions relentlessly continue their agitation protesting against the Union Cabinet's decision to bifurcate the state.

In an attempt to mount pressure on the central government, four Union ministers from Seemandhra region met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in the national capital on Monday and requested him to accept their resignations over Telangana creation.

Union tourism minister K Chiranjeevi, Union human resource and development (HRD) minister M M Pallam Raju, minister of state for commerce D Purandeswari and minister of state for railways Surya Prakash Reddy met the Prime Minister and pressed for acceptance of their resignations.

"We, in detail, gave him (Prime Minister) a clear picture of the ground situation in Andhra (Pradesh). And, we have requested him to kindly accept our resignations, and we also told him that the people of Andhra Pradesh did expect the Antony Committee to come to the state of Andhra Pradesh but since the Antony Committee has not come, now the people are losing confidence that justice would be done to them," said Purandeswari, according to ANI.

The Prime Minister told them that he will look into their request.

Meanwhile, curfew in Vizianagaram town was eased for an hour on Tuesday morning after normalcy began to return in the violence-hit area even as strict vigil was being maintained during the relaxation period, PTI reported. Curfew was clamped in Vizianagaram town on Saturday night in wake of large-scale violence by anti-bifurcation agitators who remained unabated and clashed with police on Monday also.
