For the convenience of passengers during Rath Yatra Festival, South Eastern Railway will run Fully Unreserved Rath Yatra Special trains between Rourkela and Puri as per details -

Rourkela - Puri Special

• Train number - 08131
• This special train will run from Rourkela on July 21.
• Rourkela departure time - 11:20 AM in the morning
• Puri arrival time - 12:15 AM next day

• Train number - 08132
• This special train will run from Puri on July 22.
• Puri departure time - 11:15 PM in the night
• Rourkela arrival time - 11:00 AM the next day morning

• Bisra, Monoharpur, Goilkera, Chakradharpur, Chaibasa, Dangoaposi, Banspani, Nayagarh, Kendujhargarh, Harichandanpur, Sukinda Road, Jahkapura, Cuttack, Mancheswar, Bhubaneswar and Khurda Road stations

• Unreserved coaches only.

 Kharagpur Division of South Eastern Railway has began aggregation of App-Based Taxis. However this service in now currently available only at Santragachi station. Through this service, Passengers can easily travel towards their destinations like Howrah and Kolkata by hiring app-based taxi services.

Passengers can book cabs and pay as per kilometers. An agreement has been made by Kharagpur Division with Authority of App Cab services and space has been provided at Santragachi station for Cab operators to operate and connect with passengers directly.

At present 5 App Cabs can be parked to drop and go o­n hire. Making App-Based Cab services available at Santragachi Station is a long standing demand of passengers and App-Cab Drivers can easily enter the Railway premises for dropping and taking the passengers from extremely busy Santragachi station.

To encourage cashless transaction at ticket counters, parcel offices and parcel offices; South Eastern Railway has taken initiatives by installing Point of Sale (POS) machines in 4 divisions of its jurisdictions.

In total of 488 POS have been installed till now at Passenger Reservation System (PRS) Counters, Parcel offices, Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS) Counters and suburban and non-suburban sections of South Eastern Railway.

Parcel offices are now equipped with POS machines and South Eastern Railway has also introduced such facility in non-suburban sections along with some static catering units.
Passengers may use Point of Sale machines to purchase season tickets also for their convenience apart from UTS mobile Apps, which have been introduced in all sections of SER jurisdiction in recent past.
The objective of railways is to its ticket sale system to be completely cashless to reduce higher cost of managing ticket windows. Cash dealing in reservation offices and at stations is tough task for the booking officials. It will also be beneficial for Booking and Parcel Clerks as well if railway provides enough Swipe Machines across the Railways.

 It is notified for the information of general public that the 72 hours traffic block scheduled to be avail at Parshipur - Kapsethi - Sewapuri stations o­n Janghai - Varanasi section over Lucknow division has been postponed till further advise with immediate effect. Therefore, all the trains which were earlier notified to be cancelled/partially cancelled/diverted/rescheduled have been restored to run o­n their proper route and schedule.

In an official statement from the Western Railway said today, "The decision to change the name of suburban Elphinstone station on the Western Railway to Prabhadevi will come into effect from midnight."

The statement said that necessary changes were being made to the station boards, indicators and PA system for the benefit of passengers.

The station code for Prabhadevi will be PBHD, it said.

The decision to change the name of the station to Prabhadevi was passed in the winter session of the Maharashtra Assembly in Nagpur on December 16, 2016 .

रेलवे जल्द ही मां पूर्णागिरि एक्सप्रेस का संचालन प्रारम्भ करने जा रहा है जो टनकपुर और देहरादून के बीच चलेगी | रेलवे बोर्ड ने इस ट्रेन के संचालन के लिए हाँ कर दी है | टनकपुर के बड़ी लाइन से जुड़ने के बाद लम्बी दूरी की ट्रेनों की सेवाएं शुरू होने का लोग इंतजार कर रहे हैं | 
मां पूर्णागिरि एक्सप्रेस देहरादून से मुरादाबाद, चंदौसी, बरेली जंक्शन, बरेली सिटी, भोजीपुरा, पीलीभीत होते हुए टनकपुर पहुंचेगी। पहले इस ट्रेन का संचालन भोजीपुरा, लालकुआं, रुद्रपुर, रामपुर होते हुए किया जाना था पर इसमें परेशानी ये थी कि भोजीपुरा और लालकुआं स्टेशनों पर इंजन अलग कर इसकी दिशा बदलनी पड़ती जिसका असर सीधा इसके समय पर पड़ता | इधर, टनकपुर में ठेकेदार को 10 जुलाई तक हर हाल में वाशिंग पिट का निर्माण पूरा करनेे का कहा गया है। इसके बाद ही लंबी दूरी की ट्रेनों का संचालन संभव है।

वर्ष 2015  में एक महिला वकील ने उपभोक्ता अदालत ने सेंट्रल रेलवे के खिलाफ याचिका दायर की थी जिसमे उन्होंने शिकायत की थी कि  मुंबई - एर्नाकुलम दुरंतो एक्सप्रेस से सफर करते समय उन्होंने पाया कि ट्रेन की उक्त बोगी में चूहों की भरमार है | शिकायत में महिला ने लिखा था कि चूहों की वजह से संक्रमण फैला हुआ था जिस वजह से वह खुद और उनकी रिश्तेदार बीमार हो गयीं थीं | 
महिला का कहना था कि इस मामले में सेंट्रल रेलवे दोषी है क्योंकि वो अच्छी सेवा नहीं दे पायी जबकि उनकी तरफ से पूरा किराया चुकाया गया था | बर्थ की हालत खराब थी और बोगी में चारों तरफ चूहे दौड़ रहे थे | स्टाफ से शिकायत करने के बाद उनको जवाब मिला कि ट्रेन में चूहे होना तो आम बात है लेकिन फिर भी जितना समय मिला उसमे हमने ट्रेन जितनी साफ हो सकती थी कर दी है | स्टाफ के ना सुनने के बाद महिला ने टीटीई से भी शिकायत की पर कुछ भी नहीं हुआ | 
आखिर में नाराज महिला ने मुंबई डिस्ट्रिक्ट कंज्यूमर डिस्प्यूट्स रिड्रेसेल फोरम में  सेंट्रल रेलवे के खिलाफ शिकायत की और कोर्ट ने रेलवे को  19 हजार का मुआवजा देने का फैसला सुनाया है।

लगेज के साथ सफर करने वाले यात्रियों के लिए रेलवे ने आरक्षित टिकटों की तर्ज पर ऑनलाइन बुकिंग की सुविधा शुरू करने की प्रक्रिया शुरू कर दी है | इससे यात्रा के दौरान निर्धारित वजन से अधिक लगेज लेकर चलने में कोई परेशानी नहीं होगी और साथ ही पार्सल घर भी नहीं जाना पड़ेगा | यात्री कंप्यूटर सिस्टम या मोबाइल पर आरक्षित टिकटों की बुकिंग करते समय साथ लेकर चलने वाले लगेज की भी बुकिंग कर सकेंगे |
लगेज बुक करने के लिए सिस्टम में ही एक ऑप्शन दिया जाएगा जिसमे सामान का वजन आदि भरना होगा | ओके करने के साथ ही यात्री का लगेज उसके टिकट के साथ बुक हो जाएगा | लगेज बुकिंग सिस्टम रेलवे के पार्सल से लिंक रहेगा जिससे कि लगेज बुक होते ही पार्सल सिस्टम को पूरा ब्यौरा मिल जाएगा | रेलवे को उम्मीद है कि इस नए सिस्टम से पार्सल घर पर बुकिंग के लिए भीड़ कम हो जाएगी | 
रेलवे ने निर्धारित सीमा से अधिक सामान लेजाने वाले यात्रियों पर नकेल कसने के लिए अब ऐसे यात्रियों पर किराये के साथ छह गुना अधिक जुर्माना लगा वसूलेगा | ऐसे में ये ऑनलाइन सिस्टम यात्रियों के लिए बड़ी राहत है |

रेल प्रशासन ने यात्रियों की अतिरक्त भीड़ को देखते हुए आज 18 जुलाई को इन ट्रेनों में अतिरिक्त डिब्बे लगाए हैं | अतिरिक्त डिब्बों के लगने से वेटिंग टिकट के यात्रियों को त्वरित रहत मिलती है | जिन ट्रेनों में अतिरिक्त डिब्बे लगाए गए हैं वो इस प्रकार हैं  -
