जुलाई से रेलवे उदय एक्सप्रेस उन मार्गों पर शुरू करने जा रहा है जिनपर यात्रियों की भीड़ कम होने का नाम ही नहीं लेती है | उदय एक्सप्रेस एक डबल डेकर वातानुकूलित ओवरनाइट ट्रेन सर्विस होगी जिसमे सिर्फ कुर्सीयान लगा होगा | हालाँकि इसमें लगने वाली सीट को अपनी सुविधानुसार झुकाया और सीधा किया जा सकेगा | एक डिब्बे में कुल 120 यात्रियो के बैठने की व्यवस्था होगी और हर डिब्बे में खाना और चाय/कॉफी इत्यादि विक्रय करने वाली मशीनें भी लगी होंगी | 
दिल्ली - लखनऊ जैसे मार्गों पर ये ट्रेन चलायी जाएंगी जो रातभर में पूरा किया जा सकेगा और जिनपर वर्षभर भरी संख्या में यात्री सफर करते हैं| ऐसे मार्गों पर अगर आपको त्वरित यात्रा करनी हो तो किसी भी ट्रेन में टिकट मिल पाना बहुत मुश्किल होता है | 
उदय ट्रेन का किराया सामान्य तीसरे श्रेणी के वातानुकूलित ऐसी शयनयान डिब्बे से कम रहेगा और ये ट्रेन 110 किमी की अधिकतम गति से चलेगी |

On high demand routes Indian railway will start Uday Double decker AC Express from July to deal with extra rush of passengers. Uday express will run as special class overnight service on routes with high number of passenger traffic.

Every coach will have a capacity to carry 120 passengers. There will be comfortable reclining chairs for passengers and every coach will have food and beverage vending machines.

Routes like Delhi – Lucknow witness high number passengers throughout year; Uday train service will allow passengers to travel from Lucknow to Delhi or vice versa on fare lower than that of AC three tier of regular mail / express trains.

The point to be noted is that these trains will not have sleeper berths despite being an overnight service. These trains will run with a maximum speed of 110kmph on high density routes.

Indian Railways is all set to unveil its first train between Mumbai and Goa with state-of-art facilities. The new premier Tejas train service between Mumbai and Goa will provide passengers unheard travelling experience before on Indian Railways.

This train will consist of 20 coaches with automatic doors and secured gangways. Besides this cuisine curated by celebrity chefs, tea and coffee vending machines with snack tables and individual LCD screen for passenger with wifi facility will provide a luxurious travelling experience for passengers. These trains will also have bio vacuum toilets with water level indicators and hand driers.

After launch of first Tejas train between Mumbai and Goa another Tejas train will be launched by railway to run between Delhi and Chandigarh.

Since its inception, the world’s first “Ladies Special” train has completed its 25 years. The train was dedicated to women passengers to allow them travel safely to and from home and their workplaces.

When Western Railway launched its first dedicated women special train, the same was also acknowledged by various railway zones in country and by the railway authorities of other countries also.

After launch of “Ladies Special” train, Western Railways got much appreciation by women who were till then forced to travel in regular ladies compartment in a cramped manner.

"The 1990s witnessed huge industrial and commercial boom towards south Mumbai with an increase in the number of working women commuting from the suburbs. The Ladies Special trains helped them commute more comfortably and safely."

Ladies special train runs from Churchgate to Borivali to Bhayander, Vasai and Virar.
