AC three tier class has become the most profitable category for Indian Railways and the success of recently launched Humsafar Express comprised of AC three tier class only, has forced Indian Railways to incorporate more AC three tier coaches into its trains.

Besides this Railway is gearing up to launch more Humsafar Express across the country. Member of Railway Board, Mohammed Jamshed said – “We will be launching more Humsafar Express trains and have more trains with AC tier 3 coaches as this category is profitable for us. The Guwahati-Bengaluru Humsafar Express is running at 70%-plus occupancy and so we plan to make it a daily service.”

The point worth noting is that railway practise surge pricing in Humsafar Express despite its base ticket prices were kept 20% high.

Railway has ordered 1000 new AC three tier coaches for the current financial year against the 500 planned earlier. 

The most expensive, luxury train in the world – “Maharaja Express” might run along Goa tracks from September this year. To attract high end tourists Railway ministry has proposed to run this train in Western India.

Railway Ministry feels that there is ample scope for tourism development in Konkan belt and Goa. To extend the facility to the western region, covering Goa, Maharashtra and Kerala Railway Ministry has also issued directions to IRCTC.

At the World Travel Awards 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 Maharaja Express was voted as ‘the world’s leading luxury train four times in a row.

Besides this eight new trains were introduced in Goa including recently launched Tejas Express eyeing scope of tourism in Western India.

गाड़ी संख्या 59389 / 59390 इंदौर - भोपाल - इंदौर पैसेंजर को एक्सप्रेस गाड़ी के रूप में चलेगी | चार अगस्त से इसे एक्सप्रेस के रूप में चलाया जाएगा | एक्सप्रेस गाड़ी में परिवर्तित होने के कारण इसकी गाड़ी संख्या बदलकर 19303 / 19304 इंदौर - भोपाल - इंदौर एक्सप्रेस हो जाएगी |
19303 इंदौर - भोपाल एक्सप्रेस इंदौर से रात पौने बारह बजे चलेगी और दूसरे दिन सुबह पांच बजकर बीस मिनट भोपाल पहुँच जाएगी | दूसरी तरफ से 19304 भोपाल - इंदौर एक्सप्रेस भोपाल से रात साढ़े दस बजे चलेगी और अगले दिन सुबह साढ़े चार बजे इंदौर पहुंचेगी | 
इस गाड़ी के बीच के ठहरावों में कोई बदलाव नहीं किया गया है और नाही इसकी संरचना में|

Ministry of Railways has issued a notification to accept printed E-Aadhaar card as prescribed identity proof. Railway passengers can now carry printed E-Aadhaar as proof of identity while travelling in reserved class coaches apart from following identity proofs –

• Passport
• Driving Licence
• Voter Photo Identity Card
• PAN Card
• Nationalised Bank Passbook with Photograph
• Ration Card with photograph
• Credit Cards issued by Banks with laminated photograph
• Photo Identity Card having serial number
• Student Identity Card with photograph

एक अक्टूबर से रेलवे ने ट्रेनों का स्टॉपेज काम करने का निर्णय लिया है | राजधानी और शताब्दी जैसी ट्रेनें अधिकतम तीन मिनट का लिए ही बीच के स्टेशनों पर रुकेंगी जबकि एक्सप्रेस और मेल अधिकतम पांच मिनट तक रोकने का निर्णय लिया गया है | 
रेलवे इन दिनों लगातार नई ट्रेनें चलने के दबाव से जूझ रहा है | वर्तमान में चलने वाली ट्रेनों को रास्ता न मिलने के कारण ट्रेनें लेट हो रही हैं | नयी रेल लाइन बिछाना ही इस समस्या का समाधान है परन्तु उसमे काफी समय लगेगा | तत्काल समाधान के लिए रेलवे ट्रेनों के रुकने का समय कम करना चाहता है जो एक अक्टूबर से लागू होगा | 
इस योजना के अनुसार जिस ट्रेन का इंजन बीच सफर में बदलता है या उसमे डिब्बे जोड़े जाते हैं उन्हें ही 15 मिनट का अधिकतम समय मिलेगा | प्लेटफार्म पर ट्रेनों के कोच में पानी भरने के समय में भी 5  मिनट की कटौती कर 10 मिनट किया जाएगा| 
राजधानी, शताब्दी और गरीबरथ जैसी ट्रेनों का ठहराव अभी पांच मिनट होता है जिसे तीन मिनट कर दिया जाएगा |

142 special trains were announced for the occasion of Ganeshotsav to check extreme rush of passengers. However earlier reservation booking date was not announced which finally came up as June 6.

Accordingly passengers can book seats in advance from June 6 on special charges. Reservations can be made online or on PRS counters at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus Mumbai, Dadar, Lokmanya Tilak Terminus and Pune.

General Second Class coaches in trains number 01445, 01447, 01113 and 01185 will run as unreserved coaches.

Northern Railways has taken power and traffic block between Meerut City and Daurala Stations from June 3 to June 13. This section falls under Delhi division affecting following trains –

• 64561 Delhi-Ambala MEMU Train will depart at 12:30PM from Delhi from June 3 to 13. Enroute this train will be further regulated for 45 minutes.
• 14521 Delhi-Ambala Express Train Journey Commencing from June 3 to June 13 will be regulated for 30 minutes enroute between Ghaziabad - Meerut City.
• 54472 Haridwar-Delhi Passenger Train Journey Commencing from June 3 to June 13 will be regulated for 45 minutes enroute at Sakhoti Tanda and the link train 54473 Delhi Jn.-New Delhi-Saharanpur passenger will start late accordingly.     

Train number 13006 / 13007 Shri Ganganagar – Howrah – Shri Ganganagar is one of the slowest express trains currently running in Indian Railways list of trains when there is too much noise of speeding up the journey. Recently launched Tejas Express may be the new pride for railways but perhaps the pride is too less when majority of trains are not running on time.

For Abhatoofan Express total journey distance between Howrah junction and Shri Ganganagar is 1976kms. This train completes the whole journey in 50 hours and 35 minutes with an average speed of about 39 kmph. However, a data analysis by runningstatus.in reveals that on average this train runs 8 hours approx. combining both sides. If we add this to the total journey time it becomes approx. 58 hours and 35 minutes with an average speed of 33. Now this becomes more of a shame for Indian Railways.

What’s worth noting is that this data is of last year forget this year which tells even worst story. As per data this train has not arrived even once on its scheduled time in last 5 months.
