In its continuous eandeavour to enhance safety in Railway operations, the Indian Railways is now adopting first ever unique modern technology for maintenance of its passenger coaches, wagons and locomotives. The new maintenance technique which uses acoustic method of diagnostics is known as Acoustic Bearing Detectors (ABD) & Wheel Impact Load Detectors (WILD). When used in combination together they are known as Online Monitoring of Rolling Stock (OMRS) systems. This technique involves placing arrays of microphones and sensors that record the audible noise and forces generated by the running coaches, wagons and locomotives. Conventional method to maintain passenger coaches, wagons and locomotives is to physically examine when these are in stationary condition at the maintenance depots. Under the new technique, the faults in the Rolling stock can be detected while on run which is a big advantage as it will make maintenance faster reducing turn around time for Rolling stocks thereby ensuring availability of high number of wagons/coaches etc. for operation.

The OMRS equipment is so sensitive and accurate that it is often able to indicate the specific sub-component that is not behaving the way it should and therefore causing abnormal noise. Moreover, this can be monitored remotely using mobile communication facilities. In the conventional method, it is nearly impossible to detect this problem unless major assemblies are completely dismantled and checked in the maintenance depot. One such system, which is a combination of ABD, OMRS & WILD systems, is installed near Bakkas in Lucknow division of Northern Railway as a pilot project. It has successfully detected a number of wheel bearing faults avoiding the problem of wheel bearing becoming hot which results in the stoppage of the train at the station or worse still-in between two stations. WILD have been installed in 15 locations across the country in the initial phase and these have also detected faulty vehicles that have caused higher than normal impact force on the rails. These 15 locations are; Ajni, Asansol, Mughal Sarai-I, Mughal Sarai – II, Barwadih, Vishakhapatnam, Arakkonam, Gunakal, Mahalimarup, Dongargarh, Bilai, Hospet, Bina, Itarsi and New Katni.

रेलवे से सफर करना और  महंगा होने वाला है. 7 अक्टूबर से रेल किराया 2-3 फीसदी बढ़ सकता है. रेल मंत्री मल्लिकाजरुन खड़गे ने रेल भाड़ा बढोतरी के प्रस्ताव पर गौर किया. खड़गे ने कहा, ‘‘बजट में फ्यूल एडजस्टमेंट कंपोनेंट (एफएसी) की घोषणा की गयी और बजट प्रस्ताव के मुताबिक यह 7 अक्तूबर से लागू होना चाहिए. एफएसी प्रस्ताव संबंधी फाइल मेरे पास आया है और इस गौर कर रहा हूं और जल्द ही फैसला लिया जाएगा.’’ 

गौरतलब है कि यात्री खंड में नुकसान कम करने के लिए आगामी दिनों में यात्री और माल भाड़े में एफएसी से जुड़े संशोधन संबंधी सवालों पर खड़गे ने किसी भी बढोतरी की संभावना से इनकार नहीं किया था उन्होंने कहा था  ‘‘मैं गौर कर रहा हूं. जितनी जल्द हम किसी निष्कर्ष पर पहुंचेगे हम इस बारे में फैसला करेंगे.’’ बजट प्रस्ताव के मुताबिक, एफएसी के तौर पर भाड़े से ईंधन घटक को अलग किया गया है. रेलवे, मौजूदा बाजार स्थिति और लागत को ध्यान में रखते हुए हरेक छह महीने में यात्री और माल भाड़े में संशोधन की उम्मीद कर रहा है. आकलन के मुताबिक ईंधन और लागत में बढोतरी के कारण रेलवे को अगले छह महीने में 1,200 करोड़ रुपये का भार उठाना होगा.

A proposal to increase rail fare is under examination and a decision will be taken shortly, Railway Minister Mallikarjun Kharge today said. 'Fuel adjustment component (FAC) was announced in the budget and as per the budget proposal it should have been implemented from October 1. The file containing the FAC proposal has come to me and I am examining it and a decision will be taken shortly,' Kharge said at the sidelines of a function here. To repeated queries whether there will be a FAC-linked revision in passenger and freight tariff in near future to reduce the losses in passenger segment, Kharge did not rule out the possibility of any increase and only said, 'I am examining it. As soon as we arrive at some conclusions, then we will decide on it.'

According to the budget proposal, the fuel component is segregated from tariff as FAC. Railways is expected to revise the passenger and freight tariff in every six-month after taking into account the input cost and the prevailing market condition.
According to the calculation, railways will have to bear a burden of Rs 1,200 crore due to increased energy and input
cost in the next six month. The cross-subsidy for passenger service is currently touching Rs 26,000 crore in a year.
The then Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal had announced the implementation of FAC-linked revision in only freight tariff from April 1. As regards to passenger fare, since it was revised only in January this year, it was not touched then.

Railways had decided not to pass the additional burden of Rs 850 crore because of the fuel hike to the passengers and absorbed it then. Railways has imposed 15 per cent levy as the busy season charge on all commodities from October 1.

A  special train will be run  between Nanded & Bikaner to clear extra rush of passengers .

Train no 07408 Nanded – Bikaner special train will depart from Nanded at 08.00 hrs o­n 05thOctober,2013 o­nly and will reach Bikaner at 23.45hrs o­n next day. This train o­n its journey o­n Western Railway will reach Nandurbar at 21.30 hrs  o­n 05th October,2013 and will reach Surat at 01.50 hrs , Vadodara at 04.27 hrs , Ahmedabad at 08.05 hrs , Mehsana at 10.05 hrs and Palanpur at 12.15 hrs o­n 06th October,2013.

Similarly Train no 07409 Bikaner – Nanded special train will depart from Bikaner at 20.40 hrs o­n 07th October,2013 and will reach Nanded at 10.00hrs o­n 09thOctober,2013 . This train o­n its journey o­n Western Railway will reach Palanpur at 07.47 hrs , Mehsana at 08.42 hrs , Ahmedabad at 10.45 hrs , Vadodara at 13.12 hrs , Surat at 15.35 hrs and Nandurbar at 19.40 hrs o­n 08th October,2013.

It will also halt at Purna Jn., Parbhani Jn., Selu, Partur, Jalna, Aurangabad, Manmad, Jalgaon, Amalner, Abu Road,Sirohi Road,Falna,Rani,Marwar Jn., Pali Malwar,Luni Jn, Jodhpur Jn,Gotan,Merta Road Jn.,Nagur and Nokha stations in both direction  besides stations mentioned above over Western Railway .

This train will have AC 3Tier , AC 2Tier , Second Class sleeper and Second Class general coaches.

CHANDIGARH: With the Northern Railways finally announcing to start the train between Kalka-Chandigarh-Shirdi, lakhs of Sai devotees across the tricity of Chandigarh-Mohali Panchkula and the region have the reason to celebrate.

Union minister and Ambala MP Selja will flag off the train from Kalka at 7pm while Chandigarh MP Pawan Kumar Bansal will flag off the train at 7.40pm on Sunday. With this, Sai devotees long pending demand has finally met.

Earlier devotees had to either board the train from Ambala or from New Delhi to reach Shirdi. After New Delhi, this is the second such direct train which will reach Sai Nagar Shirdi. Train no.22455/22456 (Kalka-Sai Nagar Shirdi bi weekly Superfast) is being inaugurated from Kalka to Sai Nagar Shirdi on 06.10.2013. The train will comprise of total 13 coaches having the composition of 2-Tier AC (01 coach), 3-Tier AC (01 coach), Sleeper (03 Coaches) and Unreserved ( 06 Coaches) & SLR's (02 Coaches).

On its outward journey, train No. 22456 will depart on every Thursday & Sunday ex-Kalka at 19:00 hrs. and will reach Sai Nagar Shirdi on Friday & Monday at 22:15 hrs. having stoppages at Chandigarh, Ambala Cantt, Panipat, New Delhi, H. Nizamudin, Mathura, Agra Cantt, Gawalior, Bhopal, Bhusawal & Manmad.

On its return journey from Sai Nagar Shirdi weekly train no. 22455 will depart on every Tuesday & Saturday ex- Sai Nagar Shirdi at 10:00hrs. and will reach Kalka on Wednesday & Sunday at 12:35 hrs. having stoppages at Manmad, Bhuswal, Bhopal, Gwalior, Agra Cantt, Mathura, H.Zimamudin, New Delhi, Panipat, Ambala Cantt & Chandigarh.

The Sai devotees have hailed the decision of railway authorities. Said Ramesh Kalia, the president of Shirdi Sai Samaj, `` Keeping in view the tourist rush in other trains, the railway authorities should make this train as daily train or atleast three days in the week."

To clear extra rush of rail passengers during festival season, Railways have decided to run festival special train nos. 04113/04114 Allahabad- Udhampur- Allahabad Weekly express & 09003/09004 Mumbai Central- New Delhi- Mumbai Central Bi- Weekly Superfast express as per the following programme:-

            The 04113 Allahabad- Udhampur Weekly Express festival special train will depart from Allahabadon every Saturday from 12.10.2013 to 30.11.2013 (08 trips) at 03.20 p.m. to reach Udhampur at 05.20 p.m. the next day. INTRODUCTION OF BI-WEEKLY SUPER-FAST EXPRESS

BETWEEN SAINAGAR SHIRDI AND KALKA

Railways have decided to run 22455/22456 Sai Nagar Shirdi-Kalka-Sai-Nagar Shirdi Bi-weekly super-fast express.  The details are as under:-

Train No. 22455 superfast express will leave Sainagar Shirdi at 10.00 am o­n every Tuesday and Saturday w.e.f 8.10.2013 and will arrive Kalka at 12.30 pm next day.

Train No. 22456 superfast express will leave Kalka at 7.00 pm o­n every Sunday and Thursday w.e.f 6.10.2013 and arrive Sainagar Shirdi at 10.15 pm next day.

     

Halts :- Manmad, Bhusawal, Itarsi, Bhopal, Jhansi, Gwalior, Agra Cantt., Mathura, Hazrat Nizamuddin, New Delhi, Panipat, Ambala Cantt. and Chandigarh.
