The Railways have announced the timings of some new trains, which are yet to be introduced, in the New Time Table effective from July 1.

The new trains, the introduction of which will be announced later, are Bhubaneswar-Tirupati-Bhubaneswar (22879/22880), Visakhapatnam-Gandhidham-Visakhapatnam via Vijayawada (18501/18502), Visakhapatnam-Bhagat Ki Khoti (Jodhpur)-Visakhpatnam, Visakhapatnam-Kollam-Visakhapatnam (18567/18568) weekly express, Visakhapatnam-Tatanagar-Visakhapatnam (185516/18515), Visakhapatnam-Rayagada-Visakhapatnam Passenger, Santragachi-Chennai Central-Santragachi and Hatia-Yesvathpur-Hatia weekly.Train no. 22879 Bhubaneswar- Tirupati weekly super-fast express will leave Bhubaneswar on Saturdays at 12 p.m. (noon) reaching Visakhapatnam on the same day at 7 p.m. and leaving at 7:20 p.m. to reach Tirupati at 9: 25 a.m. the next day (Sunday).In return direction, train no. 22880 Tirupati- Bhubaneswar weekly super fast express will leave Tirupati at 12:45 p.m. (noon) arriving at Visakhapatnam on the next day (Monday) at 2 a.m. and leave at 2:20 a.m. and reach Bhubaneswar at 10:10 a.m. on the same day.

Train no. 18501 Visakhapatnam- Gandhidham weekly express will leave Visakhapatnam on Thursdays at 5:35 p.m. and reach Gandhidham on Saturdays at 9:50 a.m. In return direction, train no. 18502 Gandhidham-Visakhapatnam weekly express will leave Gandhidham on Saturdays at 10:45 p.m. and arrive at Visakhapatnam on Mondays at 2:25 p.m. Train no.18567 Visakhapatnam – Kollam Weekly Express will leave Visakhapatnam at 9 a.m. on Thursdays and reach Kollam on the next day at 4 p.m. In the return direction, train no.18568 Kollam - Visakhapatnam weekly express will leave Kollam at 9 p.m. on Fridays and arrive at Visakhapatnam on Sundays at 1:35 a.m.

Train no.18516 Visakhapatnam– Tatanagar express will leave Visakhapatnam on Sundays at 5:45 p.m. and reach Tatanagar on the next day at 10:45 a.m. In the return direction train no.18515 Tatanagar – Visakhapatnam express will leave Tatanagar at 1 p.m. on Mondays and reach here on Tuesdays at 4:40 am

Train no.22807 Santragachi – Chennai AC Super-fast Express will leave Santragachi on Tuesdays and Fridays at 7 p.m. and reach here the next day morning at 8:20 a.m and depart at 8:45 a.m. to reach Chennai on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 10:45 p.m.

In the return direction, train No.22808 Chennai –Santragachi AC Super-fast Express will leave Chennai on Thursdays and Sundays at 7:45 a.m., arrive here the same day at 8:35 p.m., and leave at 8:55 p.m. to reach Santragachi on Fridays and Mondays at 10:25 a.m.

Train no.18637 Hatia – Yesvantapur weekly Express will leave Hatia at 6.15 p.m. on Saturdays and arrive at Visakhapatnam on Sundays at 9:45 a.m., depart at 10:05 a.m., and will reach Yesvantapur on Mondays at 5.00 a.m.

In the return direction, train no.18638 Yesvantapur –Hatia weekly express will leave Yesvantapur at Tuesdays at 00.30 a.m. (Midnight), and arrive at Visakhapatnam the same day at 8.35 p.m., depart at 8.55 p.m. and reach Hatia at 1.30 p.m. on Wednesdays.

The Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) on Sunday demanded that the Central government declare the historic Havelock Bridge across river Godavari in Rajahmundry as a ‘heritage spot’. It took strong objection to the Railway Board’s proposal to sell it as scrap and appealed to local public representatives to take the initiative to protect the marvel of British engineers.A team of INTACH members led by M. Vedakumar, co-convener of the organisation, visited the Havelock Bridge on Sunday and spoke to media persons on the proposal of the Railway Board, keeping it in abeyance, demanding Rs.67 crore by South Central Railway General Manager. It has to be recalled that over the years, INTACH has taken up the restoration and protection of hundreds of monuments that fall outside the coverage of the Archaeological Survey of India and other government agencies and at times, local authorities hand over the upkeep and restoration of heritage structures to INTACH directly.Mr. Vedakumar said that the Railway General Manager or Board should first speak to local representatives and also address the concerns of the public in this region.He said that if this bridge is handed over to the State government as a monument or heritage spot and in turn it is converted into a footbridge, it will serve for another 200 years. “This is a marvel of British engineers and their technology. The future engineers of the country have a lot to learn from this construction,” he added.

The INTACH co-convener said that it is the responsibility of the local MP, MLA and other public representatives to push the matter effectively with governments and see that the bridge is declared a heritage structure.

Sowmya Ranjan Mahapatra, accused of duping two businessman of over Rs.1.32 crore, was detained by immigration authorities at Chennai airport when he flew in from Singapore

An Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) officer dismissed from service, Sowmya Ranjan Mahapatra, accused of duping two businessman of over Rs. 1.32 crore, was arrested by the city police on Monday.He had been operating from Singapore for the past few months.The Immigration authorities at Chennai airport detained him two days ago based on a look-out notice issued by the Hyderabad city police when he had flown in from Singapore. The Tukaramgate police of Hyderabad took him into custody from the airport authorities. He was brought to city and remanded in judicial custody after being presented in a local court.Mahapatra worked with the South Central Railway (SCR), Secunderabad, for some time in 2004 before being transferred to the South West Central Railway at Hubli. Following allegations about misconduct and corruption, he was removed from service there.

“Since he worked in a top position in railways in Secunderabad, he came in contact with many businessmen. Dropping names of some IAS and IPS officers, he used to claim that he was well-connected with people in powerful positions,” Tukaramgate Inspector B. Sudarshan Reddy said.

He lured two businessmen, Narsaraju of Saidabad, and Venugopal of Gandhinagar, to join his business leading them to believe that he was into iron ore trade and that they can make huge money in a short span.

According to the police, he had collected Rs. 70 lakh and Rs. 62 lakh from Narsaraju and Venugopal, respectively.

Mahapatra started evading them after sometime. When Narsaraju pressurised him to return his money, the accused sent his partners – the father-son duo of Ibrahim and Yasin of Banjara Hills, to forcibly collect the business agreement papers, promissory notes and other documents from the former’s and threatened to kill him if he approached the police.

Puducherry-Mangalore Express too will skip main line

The Railways has once again let down Delta districts by announcing the introduction of the extended Puducherry-Mangalore weekly express via the chord line.This is the second time in as many months that the people of the delta district have been disappointed, the Railways has introduced the much-awaited Madurai-Kacheguda Weekly Express, announced in the Railway Budget 2012 via Tiruchi, Karur, and Erode instead of the much expected main line.The weekly Tiruchi-Mangalore Central overnight express was extended to Puducherry and an announcement in this regard was made in the Railway Budget presented in February last. However, no route was announced in the extended portion then.With the chord line route between Villupuram and Tiruchi remaining highly congested and the delta districts not having direct connectivity to Mangalore, people expected the Railways to introduce the train on the main line. The representatives of the Thanjavur District Rail Users’ Association even called on V. Narayanaswamy, Union Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, who was instrumental in getting the weekly express extended to Puducherry, to impress upon him the need for operating the train on the main line.The association said that operation of the train on the main line would immensely benefit the people of the major towns of Cuddalore, Chidambaram, Mayiladuthurai, Kumbakonam, and Thanjavur. Moreover, the commuters of Karaikal could easily reach Mahe, also a part of Union Territory of Puducherry, by this train.According to the new Railway Time Table of the Railways, the train will be operated on the chord line.The Puducherry-Mangalore Central Express (16857) will depart from Puducherry at 4.35 p.m. on Saturdays, Tiruchi Junction at 8.50 p.m., and will reach Mangalore Central at 9.50 a.m. on Sundays. In the return direction, the train (16858) will leave Mangalore Central at 4.50 p.m. on Sundays, Tiruchi Junction at 5.25 a.m. on the next day and will reach Puducherry at 10 a.m.However, the introduction of the new Puducherry-Kanyakumari Weekly Express on the main line has brought some solace to the travelling public of the central districts. Another notable feature of this train, it will be operated via Pudukottai, Karaikudi, Devakottai Road, Sivagangai, Manamadurai, Aruppukottai, Virudhunagar, and Sattur, instead of the regular route of Tiruchi, Dindigul, Madurai.The Puducherry – Kanyakumari Express (16861) will depart from Puducherry at 11.30 a.m. on Thursdays and will reach Kanyakumari at 3.15 a.m. on Fridays. In the return direction, the train (16862) will leave Kanyakumari at 1.35 p.m. on Fridays and will reach Puducherry at 5.25 a.m. on the next day.

अब चार नई ट्रेनों को भी यहीं से चलाना तय किया गया है। हालांकि इनकी तारीख तय नहीं की गई है, लेकिन संभवतया जुलाई में ही ऐसा हो जाएगा। इस तरह कुल नौ ट्रेनों का संचालन यहां से होने लगेगा। रेलवे ने यहां दो व तीन नंबर प्लेटफॉर्म तैयार कर दिया है। स्टेशन के बाहर सर्कुलेटिंग एरिया को नए सिरे से तैयार करने का प्रस्ताव जयपुर मुख्यालय को भेज दिया गया है।
इसलिए पड़ी जरूरत सिटी रेलवे स्टेशन पर वर्तमान में पांच प्लेटफॉर्म हैं। ट्रेनों की संख्या लगातार बढ़ रही है। प्लेटफॉर्म खाली नहीं होने से ट्रेनों को जोधपुर के बाहर रोके रखना पड़ता है। सिटी स्टेशन पर दबाव कम करने के लिए बैंगलुरु, यशवंतपुर, बांद्रा रानीखेत व पुणे एक्सप्रेस जैसी साप्ताहिक ट्रेनों को भगत की कोठी से चलाया जा रहा है।
अब बिलासपुर, विशाखापट्टनम, कामाख्या व अहमदाबाद एक्सप्रेस का संचालन भी भगत की कोठी से होगा। मंडल रेल प्रबंधक राजेंद्र जैन ने बताया कि भगत की कोठी के बाहर सिस्टम बेहतर बनाने के लिए प्रस्ताव भेजा हुआ है। नक्शा आदि पास होने पर पार्किंग व यात्रियों के आवागमन की सुविधा बढ़ जाएगी।

LUCKNOW: A seven-member gang was busted by special task force (STF) sleuths on Sunday for allegedly leaking question paper of the exam for Railway Protection Force (RPF) constables. The seven were arrested from Muzaffarnagar and Delhi in separately held operations. The sleuths received a tip-off that some persons were in the process of providing solved question papers to candidates for money. The gang used to provide sophisticated telecommunication device to candidates before they entered the examination hall and told them the correct answers. Alok Singh, STF deputy superintendent confirmed that seven persons were arrested, including Abrar, Vineet, Kuldeep, Sandeep, SubhashTomar, VivekTomar and Rahul. The sleuths claimed that question paper, OMR (optical mark response) answersheet, admit card and some items related to the examination were recovered from the group. The sleuths were provided name of coaching centre owner from Meerut and said that further probe was on.

The centrally located madapam is lying unused for years

People residing in and around Ayanavaram have to look elsewhere if they need to organise a function. The spacious Railway Kalyana Mandapam, located on the Konnur High Road, is lying unused for over six years now.Residents say even if they were to conduct a simple function they are depended on private party halls, which charge exorbitant amount.“It was a preferred mandapam for many as it is centrally located, has spacious halls that could accommodate nearly 500 people with adequate parking facility,” said a resident of the railway quarters. “In the

Ramadoss, president of Ayanavaram Exnora Innovators Club, some renovation work was undertaken in 2008 to replace the broken ACC roof and brick walls but the mandapam was not reopened for the public use.He says even the newly-constructed toilet in the building is in poor shape.“I have complained several times to the Railway’s grievance cell that no steps have been taken to reopen it,” he says.Sources in the Railway say the building had poor stability and was found to be unsafe to conduct functions, so it had to be shut.

“The building needs to be razed to the ground to build a new one,” added the source.
