New Delhi, June 28 (IANS) Delhi Metro Friday rejected a notice issued by Reliance Infrastructure to stop operating the Airport Metro Express Line from Sunday, an official statement said Friday. "Reliance Infrastructure-led Delhi Airport Metro Express Private Limited (DAMEPL) had sent a notice Thursday to Delhi Metro intimating that they would stop operating the Airport Line from Sunday night, which is been rejected," Sudhir Krishna, secretary, urban development ministry and chairman Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said in a statement. The board of directors of Delhi Metro met and concluded that the notice was in violation of the concession agreement and the ongoing arbitration proceedings. "The board decided to reject the notice and call upon them to continue the operations of the line in terms of the agreement. If, however, they do not do so, DMRC shall step in and operate the line in larger public interest," Krishna said. Delhi Metro and DAMEPL have been at loggerheads over the corridor when some serious defects were found in the structure of the airport metro corridor. Operations on the Airport Metro Line were suspended July 8 last year and were restarted in January. The urban development ministry had set up a committee comprising officials from the Indian Railways, Delhi Metro and Reliance Infrastructure to look into the nature of the defects. Built at a cost of Rs.5,700 crore ($1.2 billion at the exchange rate then), public-private project, the DMRC was to carry out civil works of the airport project and a consortium led by Reliance Infrastructure was to operate the line for 30 years and share the revenue. The Airport Metro, which ferries over 15,000 people daily on the 23 km network, 70 percent of those using the line are headed to the airport.

KOCHI: Don't risk travelling without tickets from Ernakulam Junction railway station from now on. In a move to bring rabid ticketless travel under control, the railways has recently reconstituted the ticket checking squad at the station.And what more, the squad has levied fines of about Rs 90,000 in the first week of June itself, showing the illegal practice is quiet rampant. The squad charged nearly 50 people for ticketless travel everyday.The checking squad was dissolved early this year due to shortage of hands for regular train duty. The reconstituted squad will have three members, including a travelling ticket examiner and ticket collector.The railway decided to reintroduce the squad after finding no improvement in ticket sales over the last several months. The station sells around 10,000-11,000 tickets every day. Railway authorities said many season ticket holders have been travelling with expired season tickets. The minimum fine collected for ticketless travel is Rs 250.

"Though the number of passengers has increased over months, there has been no increase in ticket sales," said southern railway (Ernakulam) area manager P L Ashok Kumar. Meanwhile, railway authorities said there has been a marginal increase in ticket sales at the station after checking was resumed in trains. However, the railway has not been able to conduct regular checking for platform tickets due to staff shortage.

Union Minister of State for Railways Kotla Jayasuryaprakasa Reddy flagged off two passenger trains- Kurnool-Secunderabad Intercity express and Kurnool-Nandyal DEMU passenger here on Tuesday.State Minister for Minor Irrigation T.G. Venkatesh, MP S.P.Y. Reddy, General Manager, South Central Railway, B.P. Pandey, MLC M. Sudhakar Babu, MLAs Labbi Venkata Swamy and Muralikrishna were present.Addressing the function, Mr. Suryaprakasa Reddy said development of any region was interlinked with expansion of railways. The areas with well-connected rail transport witnessed rapid development.He said Jaffer Sharieff was the last Railway Minister from the south in 1996 and after that railway progress dented in the South due to various reasons. Every effort was being made to undo the injustice by rolling out railway projects with greater devotion.

‘Long cherished dream’

He described an inter-city express between Kurnool and Twin cities as long-cherished dream of residents of the city. Mr. Reddy said it took nine years for him to rename Kurnool Town as Kurnool city in the railway records which required approval from the Ministry of Home Affairs and other departments.

He said doubling of railway line between Secunderbad and Guntakal, establishment of Midlife coach rehabilitation centre at a cost of Rs. 110 crore, escalators in station and two double deck trains were sanctioned for Kurnool.

Mr. Pandey said 25 new trains were added in the present budget while 51 trains were added in the last two years. He said the SCR was coordinating with the State government to acquire the land for establishment of coach rehabilitation centre.

Mr. Pandey said the unmanned level-crossings would be done away with completely by 2016 which were the source of accidents.

He said the railway station at Kurnool was being developed at a cost of Rs 3 crores and the second entry from the western side was being created.

Mr. Venkatesh said Kurnool would witness rapid development with pumping of funds by the Central and State governments amounting to Rs. 300 crore.

Mr. S.P.Y. Reddy asked the people to strengthen the hands of elected representatives and the Congress party to render their best.

According to sources, the decision was suspended by Rakesh Mishra, General Manager, Southern Railways on Friday.

The decision comes in the wake of agitations by the All-India Station Masters Association and the Southern Railways Mazdoor Union for the past two weeks ever since the order was passed by Thiruvananthapuram Divisional Railway Manager Rajesh Agarwal.

SAHARSA: Railway authorities are deeply concerned as with the monsoon getting vigorous day by day, the rail track near Fango railway halt on Saharsa-Mansi section under Samastipur division of East Central Railway (ECR) faces great erosion threat, which could snap the lifeline of the vast Kosi division.

The threat of erosion at 6,7,8 and 16th km of the rail track near Fango railway halt is steadily increasing keeping the railway authorities on their tenterhooks. As the water level of river Kosi, dubbed as the sorrow of Bihar, are showing an upward trend, the threat perception too has heightened, according to railway sources.

Divisional railway manager (DRM), Samastipur, Arun Malik, on Friday, said, "I am very much concerned about the rail track between Saharsa and Mansi, which is a true lifeline to the vast swathe of Kosi region." Though at the moment, the situation is "not very alarming" and all possible efforts are on to protect the rail track, he said. Anti-erosion measures are in full swing as boulder pitching and crating on the rail track is already in full blast, he said and hoped that these measures would adequately address the problem.

A reputed construction company, which is said to have the expertise and knowhow in respect of protecting the rail track, has been engaged and is going about the protection work. Besides, hosts of railway engineers are keeping a round the clock vigil, railway sources said. The 44-km-long Saharsa-Mansi rail route has a disconcerting record of facing threat of erosion by the Kosi. The surging waters of Kosi have a worrisome record of changing its course from time to time, railway sources say.

In 2011 and 2012, the Saharsa-Mansi rail track was under tremendous pressure at the same points near Fango railway halt, when some spurs were heavily eroded. War like efforts, which had persisted for days, had salvaged the situation and the all important lifeline was finally protected, railway sources recalled. A rail bridge could be a permanent solution, they suggested.

Meanwhile, overnight torrential rains in catchment areas and plains which continued till late in the day, resulted in swelling of the rivers like Mahananda and Kosi . Mahananda, which traverse through vast parts of Kishanganj, Katihar and partly Purnia districts, was flowing 65.22 metre a little below the danger mark of 66 metre at Taiyabpur ( Kishanganj) and 34.77 metre against the danger mark of 35.65 metre at Dengrahaghat (Purnia ) at 8 am on Friday.

The water discharge level of the Kosi surged to 1,30,670 cusec and 83,125 cusec at Kosi barrage at Bhimnagar near Birpur and Barahkhetra (Nepal) at 8 am on Friday, according to Central Water Commission (CWC) office in Purnia.

प्रतापगढ़। ट्रेन के डिब्बों से स्टेशन की जानकारी करने के लिए अब ताकझांक करने की जरूरत नहीं होगी। स्टेशन का नाम यात्रियों को ट्रेन के अंदर ही पता चल जाएगा। इसके लिए ट्रेन के डिब्बों में इलेक्ट्रानिक डिवाइस लगाने की तैयारी चल रही है। यही नहीं डिब्बे में एनाउंसमेंट की भी व्यवस्था किए जाने की तैयारी है।
ट्रेन पर बैठे यात्री रास्ते में पड़ने वाले सभी स्टेशनों का नाम जानना चाहते हैं। इससे वे गंतव्य स्थल की दूरी का हिसाब किताब लगाते रहते हैं। ट्रेन जब भी किसी स्टेशन पर रुकने लगती है तो यात्री खिड़कियों से झांकते हैं। यही नहीं इमरजेंसी खिड़की से तो लोग सिर निकालकर स्टेशन का नाम पढ़ने का प्रयास करते हैं। इसके साथ ही दरवाजों पर भी कुछ लोग आकर खड़े हो जाते हैं। ऐसे में यात्रियों के साथ दुर्घटना होने के चांस तो बनते ही हैं। ट्रेन में सवार होने वाले यात्रियों को भी कठिनाई का सामना करना पड़ता है। दुर्घटनाओं से बचाने और यात्रियों की सहूलियत के लिए रेलवे डिब्बे में ही अब इलेक्ट्रानिक डिवाइस लगाने की व्यवस्था कर रहा है। इससे अब बर्थ पर बैठे-बैठे ही यात्री किस स्टेशन पर पहुंचे हैं इसका पता चल जाएगा। यही नहीं डिब्बों में स्पीकर लगवाए जाएंगे। इनके माध्यम से यात्रियों को यह बताया जाता रहेगा कि वे किस स्टेशन पर पहुंचने वाले हैं। स्टेशन पहुंचने के पहले यात्रियों को स्टेशन पर गाड़ी रुकने और उतरने के लिए सजग रहने के लिए कह दिया जाएगा।
स्टेशन से चार मेल और तीन लोकल ट्रेनें चलती हैं। इनमें उद्योग नगरी, पद्मावत, भोपाल एक्सप्रेस व भोपाल सुपरफास्ट के साथ ही प्रतापगढ़-लखनऊ शटल, प्रतापगढ़ कानपुर इंटरसिटी व प्रतापगढ़ वाराणसी पैसेंजर ट्रेनें हैं। लखनऊ से मांगे गए निर्देश के मुताबिक सभी ट्रेनों में लगने वाले डिब्बों की लगभग संख्या और उनके रूट की सूचना दे दी गई है। उम्मीद की जा रही है कि जल्द ही इन ट्रेनों में यह व्यवस्था लागू हो जाएगी।
सीडीओ दिनेश यादव ने बताया कि लखनऊ डीआरएम आफिस से ट्रेनों की सूचना मांगी गई थी जो दे दी गई है। जैसा भी निर्देश इस बारे में मिलेगा उस पर अमल किया जाएगा।

उत्तर रेलवे महाप्रबंधक विजय कुमार गुप्ता ने एक जुलाई से प्रभावी नई समय सारणी का विमोचन शुक्रवार को कर दिया। नई समय सारणी के तहत फरीदाबाद को तीन साप्ताहिक ट्रेनों का स्टॉपेज दिया गया है। जबकि चार ट्रेनों के प्रस्थान में और तीन के आगमन के समय में बदलाव किया गया है। एक एक्सप्रेस ट्रेन के रूट में बदलाव किया गया है।  नई समय सारणी के हिसाब से प्रमुख विशेषताओं में 42 नई रेलगाड़ियां चलेंगी। जिसमें मेल एवं एक्सप्रेस 33 गाड़ियां शामिल है।  जबकि 9 पैसेंजर और ईएमयू ट्रेनें हैं। 9 रेलगाड़ियों के सेवा दिनों में बढ़ोतरी की गई है।



15 एक्सप्रेस और 2 पैसेंजर रेलगाड़ियों की यात्रा को विस्तार दिया गया है। 10 के चलने के दिनों में परिवर्तन, 2 ट्रेनों के नंबर में बदलाव  और  106 गाड़ियों के प्रस्थान के समय को बदला गया है।  आगमन में यह आंकड़ा 85 ट्रेनों का है। जबकि 6 ट्रेनों को अतिरिक्त ठहराव दिया गया है। नॉर्दर्न रेलवे के चीफ प्रवक्ता नीरज शर्मा ने बताया कि ओल्ड फरीदाबाद स्टेशन पर तीन साप्ताहिक ट्रेनों बांद्रा-हरिद्वार 22917, कोटा-जम्मूतवी 19803 और इंदौर-चंडीगढ़19307 का स्टापेज तय किया गया है।



इसमें बांद्रा-हरिद्वार बुधवार को बांद्रा से 11.50 पर चलेगी। जबकि हरिद्वार से गुरुवार को 18.50 पर निकलेगी। कोटा-जम्मूतवी कोटा से शनिवार को 15.00 बजे निकलेगी। रविवार को जम्मू से 23.45 बजे चलेगी। इंदौर-चंडीगढ़ का इंदौर से बुधवार को 3.30 बजे और चंडीगढ़ से गुरुवार को 6.25 बजे का समय है।



उन्होंने बताया कि फरीदाबाद रुकने वाली उत्कल एक्सप्रेस के रूट में बदलाव किया गया है। जबकि सचखंड, मुंबई जनता, देहरादून और मेवाड़ के प्रस्थान समय में 5 से 40 मिनट का बदलाव है। इसी प्रकार आगमन में सचखंड, मुंबई जनता और उज्जैनी एक्सप्रेस के समय में 5 से 10 मिनट का बदलाव किया गया है।
