New Initiative by SCR in the Supply of Bedrolls to Passengers for Improved Comfort

South Central Railway has taken up  another initiative in the supply of Bedrolls in trains with a view to improve the levels of comfort to the passengers. Under this initiative, woollen blankets are being supplied directly wrapped full length in a  cotton cloth cover for enhanced comfort in Train No. 12797/12798 Kacheguda-Chittoor-Kacheguda Venkatadri Express.

Passengers feel better and improved satisfaction since the fabric feel of thecover is softer thanthat of woollen blankets and gives more warmth. The aesthetic, eye pleasing pastel shaded cover of the blanket can be washed after every trip facilitating maintenance of the blankets with improved hygiene.

In addition, moth repellents are also being placed in the linen storage area in coaches to safeguard the blankets and to counterstale odour from blankets.

As there is positive feedback o­n this from the passengers, SCR is taking steps to expand this initiative by introducing this measure o­n other express trains also in a gradual manner.

Imphal, June 26 2013: A little over a year after the first trial engine run was successfully conducted on the Jiri-Tupul rail line on March 22, 2012, digging of the first tunnel along the this railway track under NF Railway at Awang Khun in Tamenglong district has been completed today.

The 460 metre long Tunnel No 19 which was completed today is among the 34 tunnels to be dug along the Jiri-Tupul rail line.

The tunnel was dug by a Hyderabad based private construction company, Sushi Infra Pvt Ltd.

Speaking to reporters who went there today, an official of the construction company engaged in the tunnel construction said that a machine, Rocket Boomer, weighing 37 MT imported from Sweden was deployed in digging the tunnel.

He said a total of 13 Rocket Boomers have been used in different points of the rail line construction by around 20 companies engaged in the construction under NF Railway.

The official said that insurgency problem, frequent bandh, blockade and unfavourable condition of the highway disturb the smooth progress of the railway construction.

He also admitted that the companies have to rely on other highways for transportation of heavy equipment and other basic items as the condition of NH-37 is not favourable for vehicles carrying heavy equipment.

Frequent incidents of extortion, abduction and threats are problems faced by the companies from militants, he said.

It has also been estimated that around Rs 34 crore was spent in digging the tunnel.

On March 22 last year NF Railway successfully conducted the first trial engine run covering over a distance of 12 kilometres from Jiribam railway station to Dholakal.

The foundation stone of the rail line was laid in November 2004 by Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh while Lalu Prasad Yadav was the then Railways Minister.

In 2005 the Jiri-Imphal rail line was declared a National Project.

नई दिल्ली।। दिल्ली के नांगलोई रेलवे स्टेशन के पास गुरुवार शाम को स्थानीय लोगों ने जमकर हंगामा किया। लोगों ने दिल्ली-रोहतक पैसेंजर ट्रेन पर पथराव किया, जिससे कई लोगों को चोट लगी। बताया जाता है कि कुछ दिन पहले कुछ यात्रियों ने स्थानीय लोगों के साथ मारपीट की थी, इसी का बदला लेने के लिए यह पत्थरबाजी की गई।

गुरुवार शाम को नांगलोई स्टेशन के आस-पास रहने वाले लोगों ने दिल्ली-रोहतक पैसेंजर ट्रेन को जबरन रुकवाया। इसके बाद पत्थरबाजी शुरू कर दी गई। बताया जाता है कि कुछ लोगो ने कोच में घुस यात्रियों से मारपीट भी की।

रेलवे पुलिस ने मौके पर पहुंचकर किसी तरह स्थिति को संभाला। इस हंगामे के कारण ट्रेन करीब 45 मिनट तक रुकी रही।

Even as Coimbatore anxiously waits for the release of railway time table on July 1, uncertainty looms, especially in terms of the demand for re-routing nine pairs of trains via Coimbatore which are at present being operated via Irugur – Podanur – Irugur section.

The new entries in the railway time table that might benefit Coimbatore are introduction of the Coimbatore – Rameswaram – Coimbatore weekly express with departure from Coimbatore on Fridays and departure from Rameswaram on Saturdays.

Demand

The demand was for a regular daily express train has been partially conceded with a weekly train service and even the exact date of commencement of service is yet to be notified.

However, the persistent demand of the Coimbatore Railway Struggle Committee was for ending the neglect of Coimbatore by routing some of the trains that were skipping Coimbatore.

As a fallout of the representations and agitations, of the 14 pairs of trains that skipped Coimbatore, five were re-routed enhancing the connectivity of Coimbatore with Chennai, Mangalore, Kerala and some upcountry destinations, added G.K. Nagaraj, convenor of the struggle committee.

The struggle committee was sore over Railways ignoring Coimbatore and continuing to run the trains on the Irugur – Podanur – Irugur line skipping Coimbatore despite the commissioning of the Coimbatore – Coimbatore North – Irugur second line at a cost of Rs. 60 crore after a two-decade-long wait, says MP and chairman of the struggle committee P.R. Natarajan.

Gateway

Coimbatore was the second largest revenue earner for Southern Railway and is a gateway for Udhagamandalam and Kerala.

It also hosts a number of industries, educational institutions and hospitals and the traffic potential was growing in leaps and bounds day-by-day, pointed out R. Raveendran of struggle committee.

The issue of routing some more pair of trains was taken up with the General Manager of Southern Railway during his recent visit to Coimbatore and he promised to get some trains diverted if not all the trains.

This has renewed the hope, pointed out Jameel Ahmed, Divisional Railway Users Consultative Committee member (DRUCC).

Contrary to expectations and promises, rail activist S. Ravi quoting sources pointed out that the only pair of train to be re-routed via Coimbatore will be train number 12654/53 Mangalore – Tiruchirapalli weekly express to be extended to Puducherry as announced in the railway budget.

There are nine pairs of trains from Thiruvananthapuram, Kochuveli, Mangalore and Kannur towards Chennai and Bangalore and the struggle committee had been asking for routing these trains via Coimbatore to enhance its connectivity and augment the availability of berths to ease pressure on road traffic, pointed out U.K. Sivagnanam, another member of DRUCC.

Despite not being a super fast express and with no risk of losing that fast tag, Railways was not showing any concern for routing the 16527/28 Yesvantpur – Kannur – Yesvantpur express via Coimbatore and passengers from Coimbatore find it hard to get berths for Bangalore and had to rely on omni buses compromising on safety besides exorbitant fare, Mr. Ravi pointed out.

The meagre benefits for Coimbatore would be the increase in frequency of Coimbatore Intercity Express from three days to four days a week, introduction of the Mangalore – Kacheguda – Mangalore bi-weekly express on Wednesdays and Sundays towards Kacheguda and on Tuesdays and Fridays towards Mangalore, besides Yesvantpur – Mangalore – Yesvantpur weekly express from Mangalore on Mondays and from Yesvantpur on Sundays.

Bhopal, Jun 28 (PTI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has asked Railway Minister Mallikarjun Khadge to clear pending rail-related proposals of the state at the earliest.

In a letter written yesterday, Chouhan has drawn the minister's attention towards the fact that no significant provisions were made in the 2013-14 railway budget for rail network and connectivity in Madhya Pradesh, which has disappointed the state.

कुलाबा ते सिप्झ या मुंबईतील तिसऱ्या मेट्रोच्या टप्प्याला केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडळाने गुरुवारी मंजुरी दिली. सुमारे ३३.५ किमीचा हा मार्ग भुयारी असून २७ स्टेशन्स असतील. प्रकल्पाला २५ हजार कोटी खर्च अपेक्षित असून त्यापैकी ५६ टक्के रक्कम ' जायका ' या जपानी अर्थसंस्थेकडून मिळणार आहे. केंद्र सरकारही या प्रकल्पासाठी तफावत निधी देण्याची शक्यता आहे.

मेट्रोचा वर्सोवा ते घाटकोपर हा पहिला टप्पा या वर्षात खुला होण्याची शक्यता आहे . चारकोप ते मानखुर्द हा दुसरा टप्पा मात्र पर्यावरण मान्यतेच्या कचाट्यात अडकेला आहे . त्या पार्श्वभूमीवर केंद्रीय ‌ मंत्रिमंडळाने दिलेल्या मंजुरीमुळे तिसऱ्या टप्प्याची टेंडर प्रक्रिया लवकरच सुरू होईल . प्रकल्प मंजुरीच्या वृत्तास एमएमआरडीएचे आयुक्त यु . पी . एस . मदान यांनी दुजोरा दिला .

रायपुर। रेल मंत्रालय द्वारा घोषित नई ट्रेनों का लाभ रेल यात्रियों को अभी मिलने वाला नहीं है। इसके लिए कम से कम पांच महीने इंतजार करना होना। रायपुर रेल मंडल को हाल ही में दो नई साप्ताहिक ट्रेनों की सौगात मिली है। इसके अलावा रेल बजट में भी लोकल ट्रेन चलाने की घोषणा हुई है। लेकिन गर्मी की छुट्टी में यात्रियों को इस ट्रेनों का लाभ मिलता नहीं दिख रहा।

नई ट्रेनों को शुरू करने के बारे में बिलासपुर जोन को अब तक कोई सूचना नहीं मिली है। हालांकि एक अप्रैल से घोषणाओं पर अमल करने का काम शुरू होने की बात कही गई है। इस दौरान समर स्पेशल ट्रेनों को चलाकर भीड़ पर नियंत्रण करने की तैयारी चल रही है। नई ट्रेनों का अभी रूट चार्ट भी जारी नहीं हुआ है।

रूट चार्ट जारी होने के साथ ही समय अवधि को भी लागू किया जाएगा। इन वजहों से नई ट्रेनों के परिचालन में अभी देरी होगी।

नई ट्रेनों से यात्रियों को उम्मीद

नई ट्रेनों की घोषणा में बिलासपुर रेलवे जोन को चार नई ट्रेनों की सौगात मिली है। रायपुर, बिलासपुर और दुर्ग से ट्रेनों को चलाया जाएगा। रायपुर से जम्मूतवी तक जाने के लिए एक साप्ताहिक ट्रेन चलेगी, जो अमृतसर होकर जाएगी। इससे राजधानीवासियों को जम्मू के साथ ही अमृतसर के लिए भी एक सीधी ट्रेन मिल गई है। इसी तरह दुर्ग से छपरा के लिए एक नई साप्ताहिक ट्रेन चलेगी।

इलाहाबाद, वाराणसी होते हुए छपरा तक जाने वाले रेल यात्रियों को इस ट्रेन से काफी राहत मिलेगी। इस ट्रेन का महत्व इससे भी है कि दुर्ग से छपरा तक चलने वाली नियमित सारनाथ एक्सप्रेस को गोंदिया से मुजफ्फरपुर तक विस्तार दिया गया है। इसके कारण प्रदेश के सैकड़ों रेल यात्री प्रभावित हो रहे थे। इसका विरोध भी व्यापक स्तर पर किया गया था। बिलासपुर से जोधपुर और बीकानेर के लिए दो ट्रेनें सप्ताह में दो दिन चलाने की घोषणा की गई है। हालांकि यह ट्रेन रायपुर होकर नहीं जाएगी।

पांच अप्रैल से चलाई जाएगी पुरी-शिरडी समर स्पेशल

ट्रेनों में बढ़ रही भीड़ और गर्मी की छुट्टियों को देखते हुए रेलवे प्रशासन ने समर स्पेशल ट्रेन चलाने का फैसला किया है। सबसे पहले 5 अप्रैल से पुरी-साईं नगर शिरडी एक्सप्रेस चलाई जाएगी। यह ट्रेन प्रत्येक शुक्रवार को पुरी और प्रत्येक रविवार को शिरडी से चलेगी। 02746 गाड़ी पुरी से 03 अप्रैल से 28 जून तक प्रति शुक्रवार 13 ट्रिप और 02745 साईं नगर शिरडी से प्रति रविवार 7 अप्रैल से 30 जून तक 13 ट्रिप चलेगी। इसमें 2 एसएलआर, 06 सामान्य, 9 स्लीपर, 2 एसी-3, 1 एसी-2  सहित कुल 20 कोच रहेंगे। भीड़ नियंत्रित करने और यात्रियों को अधिक सुविधा उपलब्ध कराने के लिए जल्द ही अन्य रूट पर भी समर स्पेशल ट्रेनें चलाने की घोषणा की जाएगी।

SWR CONDUCTS 53RD TOWN OFFICIAL LANGUAUGE IMPLEMENTATION COMMITTEE (TOLIC) MEETING ATHUBLI


The 53rd meeting of the Town Official Language Implementation Committee (TOLIC) presided over by Shri A.K.Mital, Chairman of the Town Official Language Implementation Committee & General Manager of South Western Railway was held at Railway Officers Club (ROC), Hubli o­n Wednesday, the 26th June, 2013. The meeting was also attended by all the Heads of Central Govt. Offices, Banks, Public Sector Undertakings etc. located in Twin cities of Hubli-Dharwad.
In his presidential address, Shri ASHOK KUMAR MITAL, the Chairman of the Town Official Language Implementation Committee & General Manager of South Western Railway, noted that Hindi has been given a status of official language of the Union of India  in constitution and provisions have been made in Official language Act and Rules  under the constitution that official work should be done originally in Hindi.He suggested the officers to write at least o­ne or two lines in Hindi language in their notings, endorsements, correspondence etc.daily, so that their subordinate officials can be motivated to write in Hindi. He emphasized the use of technology in propagation of Hindi by using Unicode and o­nline would definitely help all employees.
Shri Mital suggested the members of TOLIC to conduct various Hindi programmes under the common banner of TOLIC during Hindi fortnight/week to be observed during September in consultation with the sub-committee comprised of Hindi officers of various offices in the twin city.
Earlier, while welcoming the TOLIC members, Shri O.P. Khare, Vice Chairman of the TOLIC, Mukhya Rajbhasha Adhikari & Controller of Stores, South Western Railway, highlighted the achievements of the committee during the last six months.He further said that TOLIC is a forum which provides opportunities to member offices to jointly help and cooperate each other in achieving the targets prescribed in Annual Programme  by department of Official language and in conducting Hindi progrmmes under the auspices  of TOLIC.
Shri Ajay Kumar Shrivastav, Deputy Director(Implementation), Department of Official Language/Bangalore, who attended the meeting, reviewed the reports received from various offices and urged the members to send their Quarterly Hindi Progressive Report o­n o­nline.He also demonstrated how to register o­nline to Rajbhasha department portal by registering some offices.  He urged the members to send their reports in time for reviewing the same.
The Member Secretary of the TOLIC, Smt. C. Latha, Rajbhasha Adhikari, SWR submitted the Progress report through power point presentation and conducted a successful deliberations.The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Shri Sachin.R.Jain,Rajbhasha Adhikari/Hqrs/Hubli.
