A 58-year-old passenger travelling on Delhi - Ranchi Express passed away due to lack of basic medical facilities at Dadri station. Shiv Bachan Prasad had boarded the Anand Vihar-Hatia Express from Anand Vihar on Saturday evening along with his grandson and daughter Renu. After sometime from boarding train Prasad complained about Chest pain. However by that time train left the station.

With time Prasad’s condition deteriorated as chest pain increased. His daughter informed ticket checker about the condition who informed her that he will co-ordinated with loco pilot and guard and will ask them to stop train at Dadri station as unscheduled stop.

The train made an unscheduled stop there so that Prasad could be taken to hospital. It arrived at the station at 9.54pm. The station staff said they were informed of the emergency at 9.52pm. and a call was also made to 108 ambulance service.

Prasad was unresponsive when he was offloaded. One of the members of Dadri based social service group – Udaan said that ambulance took 40 minutes to arrive railway station, despite health centre in Dadri is just 3kms away.

“We tried to revive the man using mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and pumped his heart but it did not work. One of our friends spoke to a doctor he knew and he gave us directions on the process but it was too late. The ambulance arrived only around 10.40 pm.”

कांग्रेस संगठन ने मध्य रेल के महाप्रबंधक को पत्र लिख कर भोपाल से नागपुर तक इंटरसिटी चलाए जाने की मांग की है। संगठन के पत्र में कहा गया है कि बैतूल से नागपुर जाने के लिए 9 बजे के बाद और शाम को 4 बजे के बाद भोपाल जाने जाने के लिए कोई ट्रेन नहीं है। उन्होंने बैतूल शहरवासियों के लिए भोपाल से नागपुर तक इंटरसिटी चलाने की मांग की है। छिंदवाड़ा से दिल्ली तक चलने वाली पातालकोट एक्सप्रेस का समय भी बदला जाएं। इसे शाम को करने पर आमला और बैतूलवासियों को भी सुविधा होगी।

Railways has decided to withdraw the Garib Rath Express between Chennai and New Delhi and will soon replace Garibrath with Humsafar Express. Fares on Humsafar Express begin at Rs 2,200 that rises with demand. Railway board ordered the conversion of the Chennai - Hazrat Nizamuddin Garib Rath Express into Humsafar Express with effect from September 29.

“Northern and Southern railways will suspend booking of Garib Rath Express trains with effect from September 29 and shall define Humsafar Express train on the notified Humsafar fare structure,” says the order.

Introduced in 2005 to provide AC class travel at lower costs, Garib Rath Express became farely popular among masses. Garib Rath Express train covers 2176 km in 28.5 hours, the shortest travel time on the route. While the fares for three-tier AC class in regular trains in Chennai - Delhi route starts at Rs 2050, passengers availed the same service for Rs 1380 a ticket in Garib Rath Express.

Railways has provided additional stoppage to Train number 12101 / 02 Gyaneswari Express at Rajnandgaon station effective immediately. However, this stoppage is on experimental basis and will be available for a period of 6 months.
