A 58-year-old passenger travelling on Delhi - Ranchi Express passed away due to lack of basic medical facilities at Dadri station. Shiv Bachan Prasad had boarded the Anand Vihar-Hatia Express from Anand Vihar on Saturday evening along with his grandson and daughter Renu. After sometime from boarding train Prasad complained about Chest pain. However by that time train left the station. With time Prasad’s condition deteriorated as chest pain increased. His daughter informed ticket checker about the condition who informed her that he will co-ordinated with loco pilot and guard and will ask them to stop train at Dadri station as unscheduled stop. The train made an unscheduled stop there so that Prasad could be taken to hospital. It arrived at the station at 9.54pm. The station staff said they were informed of the emergency at 9.52pm. and a call was also made to 108 ambulance service. Prasad was unresponsive when he was offloaded. One of the members of Dadri based social service group – Udaan said that ambulance took 40 minutes to arrive railway station, despite health centre in Dadri is just 3kms away. “We tried to revive the man using mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and pumped his heart but it did not work. One of our friends spoke to a doctor he knew and he gave us directions on the process but it was too late. The ambulance arrived only around 10.40 pm.” |
