उत्तराखंड में कुदरत के कहर के बाद आयी आफत में राहत के लिए रेलवे ने भी सहयोग किया है। रेल प्रशासन द्वारा बड़ी संख्या में रेल के डिब्बे उत्तराखंड भेजे गए हैं। परिणामस्वरूप कोच के अभाव में रेल प्रशासन ने तीन ट्रेन निरस्त कर दी हैं। जिनमें से एक का संचालन विभिन्न व्यवस्थाओं के बाद आज से शुरू कर दिया जाएगा। जबकि दो ट्रेन अग्रिम आदेशों तक निरस्त रहेगी। वहीं एक रेलगाड़ी का समय परिवर्तन किया गया है।
उत्तराखंड में इन दिनों आफत के बीच राहत का कार्य चल रहा है। हजारों श्रद्धालु मौत से जूझ रहेहैं। जबकि हजारों लापता है। सेना के जवान फंसे हुए लोगों को सुरक्षित स्थानों पर पहुंचा रहे हैं। सुरक्षित स्थान से गंतव्य तक पहुंचाने के लिए जहां एक ओर उत्तर प्रदेश परिवहन विभाग ने निगम की बसें उत्तराखंड भेजी हैं। वहीं दूसरी तरफ रेलवे ने भी रेलगाड़ियां रद्द करते हुए उनके कोच उत्तराखंड भेज दिए हैं। कोच के अभाव में शनिवार को लखनऊ से चलकर 14:45 बजे कासगंज पहुंचने वाली ट्रेन संख्या 55325 रद्द कर दी गई। इस ट्रेन का संचालन आज से विभिन्न व्यवस्थाओं के बीच कर दिया जाएगा। जबकि ट्रेन संख्या 55341 कासगंज से भरतपुर 17:25 बजे जाने वाली रद्द कर दी गई है। आज से भरतपुर से कासगंज 10:50 से पहुंचने वाली ट्रेन संख्या 55342 रद्द रहेगी। यह दोनों रेलगाड़ियां अग्रिम आदेशों तक के लिए निरस्त की गई है।
रेलवे ने कासगंज से 12:10 पर मथुरा जाने वाली रेलगाड़ी संख्या 55339 का समय परिवर्तित किया गया है। यह ट्रेन अब 17:25 बजे रवाना हुआ करेगी। इज्जतनगर मंडल के जन संपर्क अधिकारी राजेंद्र सिंह ने बताया कि उत्तराखंड में हुई घटना के बाद राहत कार्य के मद्देनजर रेलवे ने यह निर्णय लिया है।
परेशान रहे यात्री
कासगंज: रेल प्रशासन द्वारा की गई ट्रेन निरस्त के बाद यात्रियों को परेशानियों का सामना करना पड़ा। कासगंज से चलकर मथुरा जाने वाले ट्रेन संख्या 55339 जो कि 12:10 पर जाती थी। यात्री उससे यात्रा के लिए रेलवे स्टेशन पहुंचे। लेकिन वहां ट्रेन निरस्त की जानकारी के बाद मायूस हो गए।

Sanction divisional Railway headquarters to Gulbarga, Kharge urged

The zilla panchayat general body meeting on Friday approved an action plan for the first phase of the Backward Region Grant Fund (BRGF) of Rs. 11.55 crore.The panchayat had originally sent a proposal seeking Rs. 25.78 crore to the Union government. Of this, Rs. 3.3 crore would be given to gram panchayats; Rs. 2.99 crore to taluk panchayats, Rs. 3.14 crore reserved for the zilla panchayat and Rs. 1.84 crore to urban local bodies.A sum of Rs. 76 lakh would be reserved to pay the salaries of guest teachers appointed to fill vacancies in government schools.Panchayat members were unhappy over the cut in allocation of funds to individual members, and pointed out that at the district planning committee meeting, Rs. 12 lakh was promised to each of the 43 members. Now, as per the revised plan, Rs. 7 lakh would be given.After a prolonged discussion, it was decided to use the funds available under other programmes to increase allocations to panchayat members to Rs. 11.95 lakh.A resolution passed at the meeting urged Railway Minister M. Mallikarjun Kharge to sanction the divisional Railway headquarters to Gulbarga and expedite the construction of the Gulbarga–Bidar line.

NEW DELHI, June 22 (UPI) -- The Indian government says flooding that has killed at least 560 people and trapped thousands in northern parts of the country is a national crisis.Special trains and army helicopters are being used to evacuate parts of the mountainous state of Uttarakhand, where 40,000 people are still stranded, the BBC reported Saturday.At least 560 are known dead. Thousands are missing.Forty bodies were pulled from the Ganges River in the town of Haridwar Friday, a police official said.Officials say more than 33,000 people have been rescued, but rescue efforts have suffered from a lack of coordination among agencies.The army is working to repair roads and bridges, but in the meantime residents of remote area are cut off from receiving any assistance.Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has authorized a $170 million relief package for the state.Singh's cabinet secretary, Ajit Seth, said Saturday rescue efforts would be stepped up, the Press Trust of India reported.Fifty-six helicopters are making 220 trips a day into the flooded area to evacuate people and deliver relief materials. More rain is expected Monday.

A group of citizens, led by S. Muthiah, the chronicler of Madras, will petition Southern Railway, protesting the proposed demolition of Royapuram railway station.According to Mr. Muthiah, “the station is a heritage structure that meets all international requirements that preservation of a heritage building demand: historical value, heritage value, art/architectural value, commemorative value and age value.”

NAGPUR: The special train run for the benefit of the survivors of Uttarakhand tragedy which had just begun to chug out of the railway station was stopped as the doctor was still treating a patient for hypertension. "You cannot imagine the devastation which we saw," said Srikrishna Chandrashekhar, one of the passengers on the 04014 Nizamuddin-Secunderbad special train.With horror still quite visible in his eyes, Chandrashekhar who had lost all his luggage in Kedarnath, had nothing but the clothes that he was wearing. "Big stones were falling from above us. It was frightening, there was no food, but at least our whole group is safe," he said.The Nagpur Division of Central Railway had made provisions for these people. They had also approached some NGOs and institutions to come forward and help the victims with food and drinks.There were about 450-500 passengers in the 17-bogie train which reached Nagpur at 4.45pm and is expected to reach Secunderabad by 1.30am on Sunday. Apart from the railway catering many other organizations including DRUCC, ZRUCC, BYK, Punjab National Bank, Maheshwari Mahila Samiti, Sindhi community, Naivedhyam and Comesum restaurants came forward to help the victims and there was more than enough food for all of them. Medical assistance was also given to the passengers."The division has done a great job with DRM Brijesh Dixit heading from the front. The Bharatiya Yatri Kendra (BYK) had first written to the government to start such specials and we are happy that they took this step," said Basant Shukla, general secretary of BYK."The owner of our hotel came to wake us up at 4am and asked us to run and that is how we have survived. By 5am our hotel was submerged in water," said Mahalakshmi Kumari. "It took us three days to come out of the shock of what had happened. We were in a complete daze," said K Satchidanand.The passengers, who were literally being pampered by the volunteers who had come to provide provisions were very grateful for the help. "Before Amla we were provided nothing. Here we have got plenty," said Ashok Reddy. Recalling the horror, he said, "It was five days in hell.""Nagpur Division has arranged for the dinner of the passengers at Ballarshah," said SK Dash, station manager. To oversee the process a team from Nagpur, under the leadership of divisional commercial manager BL Kori, went in the train to Ballarshah.While departing the smiling faces of the passengers said it all "a big thank you to the railway staff and volunteers".

‘It is easier to administrate and implement programmes in small taluks’

The former Chief Minister N. Dharam Singh, MP, has said there is no need to take a relook at the decision to bifurcate bigger taluks.Mr. Singh, who was addressing a press conference here on Thursday, was referring to statements by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Revenue Minister V. Srinivas Prasad on the formation of new taluks. It was easier to administrate and implement government programmes in smaller taluks, he felt.The BJP government had made the announcement on the new taluks and now the Congress government should take further steps in this regard, Mr. Singh said.If needed, another committee could be constituted to look into the need for bifurcating more taluks, the former Chief Minister added.Mr. Singh said he would discuss the issue with the Chief Minister and Revenue Minister. “Bigger taluks, particularly those in north Karnataka districts, posed problems for easy administration,” he added.Expressing happiness over the Railway portfolio going to M. Mallikarjun Kharge, Mr. Singh said an important portfolio had been given to Mr. Kharge at a critical juncture, just when the Lok Sabha polls were around the corner.“I am confident he will rise to the occasion and fulfil the aspirations of the people in the State, particularly Hyderabad Karnataka, by conceding long-pending demands such as establishment of a divisional Railway headquarters in Gulbarga, introduction of new trains to Bangalore, and expediting work on the Gulbarga-Bidar line.”

Asked if the Lok Sabha polls would be advanced, Mr. Singh said: “anything could happen in the fast-changing political scenario, now that the Janata Dal (United) has come out of the National Democratic Alliance. There are both advantages and disadvantages in holding early elections … nothing can be said for sure.”

To another question if Mr. Siddaramaiah would complete the full tenure of five years as Chief Minister, Mr. Singh countered: “why should he not?” However, “everything will be up to the party high command.”

“Mr. Siddaramaiah is a seasoned politician, and has held important government posts and also presented many budgets. He is doing good work as Chief Minister,” Mr. Singh said. His son, Ajay Singh, MLA, was present.

Haridwar:
In view of thousands of pilgrims stranded in calamity-struck Uttarakhand, the Railways has started special trains from Haridwar, Dehradun and Rishikesh to other parts of the country.Stranded passengers are being transported free of cost as per coordination between the Railways and the Uttarakhand Government ensuring that sufficient empty coaches are sent to Haridwar and Dehradun.Three special trains were run yesterday to Lucknow, Delhi and Ambala and more were being planned as per the expected requirement in the coming days, according to sources in the Ministry of Railways.A task force has also been set up at the level of the Railway Board under its Chairman Vinay Mittal, who is monitoring the situation.The Northern Railway, under which the Moradabad Division, Haridwar and Dehradun railway stations fall, have also geared up by making additional arrangements for the pilgrims.Senior officers have been deputed as special officers in charge of four most crucial points. These officers will be responsible for liaison and coordination with the state civil authorities, ensuring management and dispersal of passengers by trains, running of special trains and also ensuring setting up of 24-hour passenger help booths at these locations.The designated officers are Sanjeev Garg for Dehradun (09717630953), DK Singh for Rishikesh (097171630969), Hitendra Malhotra for Haridwar (09760534001) and Vivek Shrivastava for New Delhi (09717631001).

Railway Police Force officials with adequate personnel of inspectors and constables have also been deputed at these four locations along with doctors and paramedical staff.

Adequate arrangements of catering facility, drinking water and frequent announcements via a public address system regarding the status of trains and other passenger-related information is also being done

Meanwhile, a delegation of the BJP met railway officials and complained about lack of sufficient additional trains for the disaster-affected pilgrims from Haridwar.

Led by party unit district chief Vikas Tiwari, the activists gave a memorandum in this regard to Moradabad Divisional Manager Hitendra Malhotra. They demanded extra bogies and trains from Haridwar to other parts of the country.

Malhotra said additional bogies were being attached to the trains bound for Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and other states. In case of cancellation of reservation, full payment was being done to the passengers.

He added that additional counters and information centres had been set up at the Haridwar and Rishikesh railway stations in view of a rise in the number of passengers owing to the natural calamity. The passengers mainly comprise pilgrims who were rescued from Kedarnath, Badrinath, Yamunotri, Gangotri, Chamoli, Uttarkashi, Karanprayag, Tehri, Srinagar, Garhwal and Rudraprayag areas.
