‍For the convenience of the rail passengers and to increase the passenger carrying capacity Railway Has decided to increase the passenger carrying capacity  of 12985/12986 Jaipur-Delhi Sarai Rohilla-Jaipur Double    Decker And 12059/12060 Kota Hazrat Nizamuddin Jan Shatabdi Express Trains o­n temporary basis as per the under-mentioned  programme:
The 12985/12986 Jaipur-Delhi Sarai Rohilla-Jaipur Double    Decker Trains will be augmented  by attaching o­ne additional Executive chair car from 21.06.2013 to 18.09.2013 from Jaipur and Delhi.
12059/12060 Kota Hazrat Nizamuddin-Kota Jan Shatabdi Express Train will be augmented  by attaching o­ne additional AC Chair Car from 21.06.2013 to 01.07.2013 from Kota and Hazrat Nizamuddin. The other features like timings, route, stoppages, composition etc. will remain as unchanged.

The engine of train no. 12623 mail superfast express from Chennai to Thiruvananthapuram seized up after it left the station here and reached the nearby tunnel around 7.35 a.m. on Tuesday.As it got stranded on the single line, several trains were held up at stations such as Changanassery, Ettumanur and Thiruvalla for two-and-a-half hours.The line was cleared after an engine was brought from Ernakulam and connected to the stranded train at 10 a.m. Many passengers had got off the train by then and took buses to their destinations.Railway authorities said the engine started malfunctioning soon after the train left the Tripunithura station.

In the absence of any follow-up measure after last year’s budget announcement by the Railways to accord Adarsh status to Tiruverumbur station, the major station located on the Tiruchi-Thanjavur railway section presents a pathetic sight.Although a highly-patronised station, it is yet to get a footbridge and a host of amenities. Rail passengers still have to cross the tracks riskily. The danger caused by the absence of footbridge and inadequate lighting is prominently felt at night when passengers board the Rockfort Express and Mysore Express trains in large numbers. The only visible work is the construction of platform shelters.According to official sources, 50 trains cross the station every day in both directions and of them 30 stop at the station that is patronised largely by the public in BHEL Township, ordnance factory estate, Kattur, and residents of Thuvakudi. The footbridge project, initiated a few years ago, is still in progress.The station lacks basic amenities. Inadequacy of drinking water and lack of toilet facilities cause enormous discomfiture for passengers, says Anbalagan, spokesperson, Tiruverumbur Taluk Development Committee.Alongside platform shelters, drinking water facility and pay and use toilets, an Adarsh station ought to have electronic coach indication boards, spacious waiting room, passenger reservation system centre, ramps for benefit of the people with disabilities, connecting platforms, and cloak room.

Users of Tiruverumbur railway station were promised that all the facilities would be put in place in a year’s time. Railway sources say, the Ministry had earmarked Rs. 13 crore for developing the station. However, there was no indication as to when the funds would be received, sources said.

In recent months, after the eviction of encroachments at the entrance by the National Highways Authority of India, the approach road to the station appears broader. The road should be further broadened to lay separate entry and exit roads, says Raja, a local industrialist.

Removing encroachments on the approach road was one of the pre-requisites specified by the BHEL two years ago to sanction funds for developing a spacious parking lot, landscaping, and providing lighting arrangements.

Ghaziabad: In order to curb the illegal sale of tickets, a CBI team today conducted a raid at the old railway station here.In an attempt to nab middlemen who indulge in illegal sale of tickets, they seized records and questioned railway officials, sources said.The raid was part of a crackdown on illegal selling of tickets in various parts of the country, they said.

The 40 posts in 28 railway stations have gone even when 77 stationmaster’s posts lie vacant in the division.The decision of Thiruvananthapuram railway division authorities to axe 40 posts of assistant stationmaster in the transportation wing has raised fears about rail safety.The decision is based on a work study report, but Railway sources say stationmasters across the division extending from Sengulam to Vallathol Nagar are under tremendous work pressure and fewer hands means safety will take a backseat.A “memorandum” signed by the Senior Divisional Operations Manager, the Senior Divisional Finance Manager and the Divisional Personnel Officer, which is available with The Hindu, says the Divisional Railway Manager has approved the decision.The posts had been kept vacant for a year and they were axed citing a rule that if a post remains unfilled for six months, it can be done away with.

Sources say stationmasters are given more and more responsibilities even after the introduction of latest technology. Moreover, the number of trains has gone up.Besides the designated work of passing trains and issuing tickets in small stations, the stationmasters are responsible for the functioning of manned level crossings and intermediate block stop signals and axle count (provision to ensure complete arrival of trains).As a 25 per cent leave reserve is not maintained as per the Establishment Manual, the stationmasters are denied leave even if ill.For the past month, many have been forced to do two shifts at a stretch. The supervisory station superintendents have been forced to take up the train-passing duty in Thrissur, Guruvayur, Chalakudy, Thiruvalla and Varkala.The 439 posts of stationmasters in the division have been allocated considering the importance of the stations and requirement, and an agreement was signed two months ago with representatives of recognised unions by the Divisional Operations Manager.The work study, which should be done continuously for 24 hours to 48 hours in the railway stations, has not been proper as the Transport Inspector and the Welfare Inspector did not even visit the stations, sources say.The Divisional Railway Manager reportedly overruled the request of the Divisional Personnel Manager to hold discussions with the recognised unions on the axing of the posts.Sources allege that the stationmasters are harassed and transferred on flimsy grounds.The platform stationmaster was suspended for the mayhem at the Central Station here on May 6, though he was not in charge of the shunting operations. The suspension was later revoked.The divisional authorities are reportedly trying to axe 20 posts of commercial clerk and those of enquiry-cum-reservation clerk, train clerks and train ticket examiners.

जबलपुर. पल पल संवाददाता. इटारसी, जबलपुर, कटनी, सतना, इलाहाबाद के बीच इलेक्ट्रिफिकेशन का कार्य पूर्व में स्वीकृत हो चुका था लेकिन दो ज़ोनो के बीच का मामला होने के कारण इसमें कार्य को लेकर सहमति नहीं बन पा रही थी पर अब इस कार्य को प्रगति देने के कार्य योजना को अमलीजामा पहनाने इलाहाबाद के महाप्रबंधक और पश्चिम मध्य रेल के महाप्रबंधक के बीच हुई बैठक में यह निर्णय ले लिया गया है की बहुप्रतीक्षित मांग को पूरा करके ही रहेंगे. पश्चिम मध्य रेल के बीना-भोपाल व इटारसी-हबीबगंज के बीच तीसरी लाईन बीना-रुठवाई-कोटा के बीच दोहरीकरण इलेक्ट्रिफिकेशन के कार्य कराये जा रहे है. उसी तरह पिछले वर्ष बीना-रुठवाई-कोटा के बीच का कार्य पूर्ण हो गया है. अब इटारसी, जबलपुर, कटनी, सतना, इलाहाबाद के बीच के कार्य को पूरा करने योजना बन गई है. मिली जानकारी के मुताबिक़ चार खंडो में बाँट कर एक साथ कार्य किये जाने की भी सहमति बन गई है. इसके पूर्ण होने से ट्रेनों की लेटलतीफी से यात्रियों को निजात मिल सकेगी. उल्लेखनीय है कि इन स्टेशनों के बीच के 24 खंडों के बीच कार्य को लेकर सहमति बन गई है. कार्य के दौरान अधिकारियों/कर्मचारियों की नियुक्ति के सम्बन्ध में भी विचार कर रूपरेखा तैयार की गई है ताकि कार्य शीघ्र पूरा हो सके. यह महाकौशल क्षेत्र की वर्षों पुरानी मांग थी. इस पर राजनीतिक दलों के नेता भी मौन साधे हुए थे लेकिन पमरे के महाप्रबंधक सुनील वी आर्य के प्रयासों से यह योजना शीघ्र शुरू हो जायेगी.

प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन सिंह के 25 जून को काजीगुंड-बनिहाल रेल सेक्शन के संभावित उद्घाटन से पहले मंगलवार को कमिश्नर रेलवे सेफ्टी (सीआरएस) आरके करदम ने सेक्शन की जांच शुरू की। दो दिवसीय जांच के पहले दिन सीआरएस ने रेल ट्राली पर काजीगुंड से बनिहाल रेल सेक्शन तक का सफर तय किया। बुधवार को इस सेक्शन पर इंजन युक्त आठ कोच वाली ट्रेन के साथ फुल ट्रेन रनिंग ट्रॉयल होगा।
सूत्रों के अनुसार, सीआरएस सुबह 11:50 बजे हवाई जहाज से श्रीनगर पहुंचे और सड़क मार्ग से सीधे काजीगुंड रवाना हो गए। दोपहर करीब ढाई बजे वह रेलवे के अन्य अधिकारियों के साथ मोटरयुक्त रेल ट्राली पर बैठकर काजीगुंड सेरवाना हुए और रात करीब साढ़े आठ बजे बनिहाल पहुंचे। पांच घंटे की अपनी जांच के दौरान उन्होंने पूरे सेक्शन के साथ रेलवे ट्रैक व अन्य तकनीकी चीजों की भी जांच की। बुधवार को सीआरएस रेलवे स्टाफ के साथ फुल ट्रेन रनिंग ट्रायल करेंगे। इस दौरान यह भी देखा जाएगा कि इस सेक्शन पर ट्रेन अधिकतम किस गति सीमा पर चल सकती है। संभावना जताई जा रही है कि फुल ट्रॉयल बनिहाल से काजीगुंड की ओर किया जाएगा। इंस्पेक्शन के बाद सीआरएस अपनी रिपोर्ट रेलवे को सौंपेंगे। सीआरएस की रिपोर्ट को बेहद महत्वपूर्ण माना जाता है, उनकी मुहर के बाद ही सेक्शन पर रेल यातायात चल सकेगा।
मंगलवार को इंस्पेक्शन के दौरान सीआरएस के साथ डिप्टी सीआरएस अनिल कुमार, सीएओ बीडी गर्ग, डीआरएम फिरोजपुर एनसी गोयल, चीफ इंजीनियर कंस्ट्रक्शन अचल जैन, चीफ इंजीनियर सिग्नल एंड टेलीकॉम, चीफ इंजीनियर इलेक्ट्रिकल आरके चौधरी, चीफ इंजीनियर आरसी, डिप्टी चीफ इंजीनियर विनोद कुमार भी मौजूद रहे।
