વિવિધ ટ્રેનોમાં સુરત અને ઉધના રેલવે સ્ટેશનની આસપાસ ચેઈન પુલિંગ કરી શહેરમાં દારૂ ઘૂસાડવામાં આવતો હોવાની વ્યાપક ફરિયાદને આધારે આજે આરપીએફએ ટ્રેનનું ચેઈન પુલિંગ કરી દારૂ ઉતારતા એક શખ્સને દારૂના જથ્થા સાથે ઝડપી પાડી કાયદેસરની કાર્યવાહી કરી છે.

આ અંગે મળતી જાણકારી મુજબ છેલ્લા કેટલાય સમયથી વિવિધ ટ્રેનોનું સહારા દરવાજા પાસે ચેંઇન પુલિંગ કરવાના બનાવોમાં સતત વધારો થતો હોવાની વ્યાપક ફરિયાદ આરપીએફને મળી રહી હતી. જે આધારે આરપીએફ પીઆઇ ગ્રેસિયસ ફર્નાન્ડીઝની સૂચનાના આધારે કોન્સટેબલ વનરાજ અને જગમલે સહારા દરવાજા વિસ્તારમાં વોચ રાખીને બેઠા હતા. દરમિયાનમાં સહારા દરવાજા પાસે જમ્મુતાવી એકસપ્રેસનું ચેઈન પુલિંગ કરીને એક શખ્સ ભાગતો હતો. જેને આરપીએફએ ફિલ્મીઢબે પીછો કરી દારૂ ઉતારતા શખ્સ સુજીતકુમાર એસ. મોર્ય (રહે. ૯૨-કિશોર ભવાની સોસાયટી, ગોડાદરા) ની ધરપકડ કરી તેની પાસે રહેલ દારૂના ૯૨ જેટલાં કવાર્ટર સાથે ઝડપી પાડી કાયદેસરની કાર્યવાહી હાથ ધરી હતી. જેમાં આરપીએફએ ચેઈન પુલિંગ કરવાનો કેસ કર્યો હતો, જ્યારે દારૂ લાવવા બદલ શખ્સને રેલવે પોલીસને હવાલે કર્યો હોવાની વિગતો જાણવા મળી છે.
અત્રે ઉલ્લેખનીય છે કે, શહેરમાં વિવિધ ટ્રેન મારફતે દારૂ લાવવા માટે કેટલાંક શખ્સો સવારે ફલાઇંગ રાણી દ્વારા દમણ જતાં હોય છે. તેઓ ત્યાંથી દારૂનો જથ્થો લઇ સુરત મોટાભાગે જમ્મુતાવી, ફિરોજપુર જનતા અથવા તો વિરાર શટલ દ્વારા આવતાં હોય છે. જેના કારણે આ ત્રણેય ટ્રેનોમાં ચેઈન પુલિંગના બનાવોમાં સતત વધારો થતો હોય છે. કારણ કે ચેઈન પુલિંગ ઉધના અથવા તો સુરત રેલવે સ્ટેશન પાસે કરીને પોલીસની નજરથી બચીને ભાગી જતાં હોય છે. આવા તત્ત્વો સામે આરપીએફએ કાર્યવાહી કરતાં દમણથી દારૂ લાવનારા તત્ત્વોમાં ફફડાટ વ્યાપી જવા પામ્યો છે.

ट्रेनों में यात्रियों की भीड़ को देखते हुए रेल प्रशासन ने जम्मू से चलने वाली तीन ट्रेनों में अतिरिक्त कोच लगाने का फैसला किया है।
इसके अलावा राजधानी और दुरंतो में भी आरएसी का कोटा बढ़ा दिया गया है। इस कोटे के बढ़ाए जाने से पचास फीसदी यात्रियों को अब इन दोनों ट्रेनों में बैठने की सीटें उपलब्ध हो पाएंगीं, जबकि सोने की सीटें कम हो जाएंगी।
जानकारी के अनुसार तीन ट्रेनों में अहमदाबाद एक्सप्रेस विशेष साप्ताहिक ट्रेन, विवेक एक्सप्रेस और अंडमान एक्सप्रेस शामिल हैं। इन ट्रेनों में गर्मियों के दिनों में माता वैष्णो देवी और श्री अमरनाथ यात्रा के श्रद्धालुओं की भीड़ अधिक होती है।
इस फैसले से रेलवे को मुनाफा भी अधिक होगा और लोगों को सीटें भी मिल सकेंगी। इसके अलावा राजधानी और दुरंतो में भी करीब दो सौ अतिरिक्त यात्रियों को लाभ होगा।
गौरतलब है कि इन दिनों ट्रेनों में काफी भीड़ है और लोगों को आरक्षण मिलना असंभव हो गया है। इमरजेंसी जाने वाले यात्रियों को तत्काल टिकट पर ही निर्भर होना पड़ रहा है, जिसके लिए भी काफी मारामारी है।

6.15 pm: Mallikarjun Kharge becomes new Railway Minister.

नई दिल्ली. रेलवे के राजस्व में गत अप्रैल-मई के दौरान 12.73 प्रतिशत वृद्धि दर्ज की गई. रेलवे ने एक अप्रैल में 31 मई के दौरान पिछले साल की इस अवधि के दौरान प्राप्त राजस्व 19905.32 करोड़ की तुलना में 12.73 प्रतिशत की बढोत्तरी के साथ 22433.30 करोड़ रूपए का राजस्व अर्जित किया है.
इस दौरान माल ढुलाई से होने वाली आय में 10.52 प्रतिशत की बढोत्तरी हुई है. पिछले साल अप्रैल मई के दौरान माल भाड़े में 14169.34 करोड़ रूपए आय की तुलना में इस साल अवधि मे 15660.11 करोड़ रूपए की आय हुई है.
इस अवधि में यात्री किराए से आय 4940.04 करोड़ रूपए से बढकर 5803.43 करोड़ हो गई. अन्य मदो से इस वर्ष अप्रैल-मई मे 696.12 करोड़ रूपए की आय हुई.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will effect a cabinet reshuffle Monday evening, official sources said.

The swearing in of new ministers is scheduled for 5.30 p.m. at Rashtrapati Bhawan.

The exit of the erstwhile allies DMK and the TMC, as well as the resignations of Pawan Kumar Bansal, Ashwani Kumar, C.P. Joshi and Ajay Maken, have created vacancies in the cabinet.

Bansal resigned after his relative was accused of taking money for a plum post in the Railway Board. Ashwani Kumar quit on charges of vetting a CBI report on the allocation of coal blocks. Joshi and Maken resigned over the weekend and have been given Congress party charges for the Rajasthan and Delhi assembly elections later this year.

Mallikarjun Kharge is likely to be shifted to railways ministry from the labour ministry, while Congress leader from Rajasthan Sis Ram Ola might be given charge of the surface transport ministry, previously held by C.P. Joshi.

Another MP from Rajasthan, Girija Vyas might step in as housing and urban poverty alleviation minister in place of Maken, who resigned Saturday.

The cabinet reshuffle will come a day after the overhaul of the Congress party apparatus in which Maken and Joshi, along with Ambika Soni and Gurudas Kamat were brought in as general secretaries, while Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and Oscar Fernandes were dropped from the posts.

Meenakshi Natarajan, considered close to party vice president Rahul Gandhi, might also find a place as a minister of state. The name of Birender Singh, who was dropped as Congress in-charge of Himachal Pradesh and Delhi is also doing the rounds for a berth.

New Delhi: Mallikarjun Kharge, who lost out in Karnataka Chief Minister's race, has been given the charge of the Railways Ministry. Eight new faces were inducted in the Council of Ministers today, with Sisram Ola and Oscar Fernandes making a re-entry after a gap of four years.

President Pranab Mukherjee administered the oath of office and secrecy to the new ministers.

Ola, along with Girija Vyas and K S Rao, were inducted as Cabinet Ministers. The Ministers of State inducted were Manikrao Gavit, Santosh Chowdhury, J D Seelam, E M S Natchiappan. Ola and Fernandes were ministers in the UPA-I but did not find a place in the UPA-II government. With the new inductions, the strength of the Council of Ministers went up to 77.

Girija Vyas may get the Housing and poverty alleviation portfolio, Sis Ram Ola, is likely to get the Labour Ministry.

Era Infra Engineering today said that it has bagged a contract from Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Ltd worth about Rs 384 crore.The project, in a joint venture with Chengdu Ranken, is  for construction of five elevated stations including architectural finishing and plumbing works of stations on Alwaye-Petta Line of Kochi Metro Rail Project at Kochi, Kerala by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation.Shares of the company were trading 1% lower at Rs 144 on BSE.
